Starmer, "Well men's feelings get hurt, so.."(literal quote from recent interview about women's rights).
Tories, "We'll do xyz.." don't do xyz.
LIB d3ms - " Women can have a penis/Free Gaza!
Reform - "No more violent boat male migrants who are raping our women/stabbing our men'.

How do you think Reform will stop the male migrants?

Fireplacewatcher · 30/06/2024 16:17

If I go to another Country, I cannot access that Country’s healthcare or financial aid. I have to have private insurance and evidence the ability to not become reliant on that system. This is very fair.

Why is it that if the UK proposes to do similar, we are racist?

There are so many hypocrites here that sit complaining about the state of the NHS and the housing crisis but expect an endless pot available for a free for all.

Which countries do you mean?
In Europe certainly, if you live and work in another country you have the same access to health care as anyone else living and working there.

Annielou67 · 30/06/2024 16:21

If you are concerned at all about climate change, reliance on fossil fuels, the rise in far right politics across Europe, all things Nationalist, the poorest in society - They are not for you. They are definitely not for me.

Iseeyoupekingduck · 30/06/2024 16:23

Farrage lead the campaign for Brexit can you you tell me how Brexit has helped this country? Because the country has gone right down the pan and there are no benefits from Brexit, it was all built on lies and deceipt and you would trust a party that he is in?

Merryoldgoat · 30/06/2024 16:24

magentarain · 30/06/2024 16:14

You really think someone voting Reform is a wind up? Have you not seen the polls?

No, I mean the poster know how that would be received here so they’ve posted it for a laugh.

magentarain · 30/06/2024 16:24

I don't think there's anything racist or misogynistic in Reform's policies. However, the party, being one of the most right-wing mainstream parties at present, does attract some individuals who are like that, and a minority of its candidates are racist. Just as Labour attracts a great deal of Anti-Semites and full-blown Communists, but isn't inherently anti-semitic or communist.

I agree with their migration policy (to bring migration back to net levels, i.e. as many people entering as leaving), and I strongly support their proposals for the NHS and appreciate the fact that finally a party is not mythologising one of the worst performing health systems in the developed world, but wants to completely reform it and change the way it's funded and operates (i.e. an insurance system, underwritten by the government, so that it remains free for those who can't afford to pay). This system is widely used in Europe and has better outcomes, despite their funding being comparable to that received by the NHS. There is nothing special about the NHS and this sickening deification of it on the part of Labour and the Tories is killing people.

However, I was really cross about Farage's comments on Ukraine. I have a lot of Ukrainian family and frankly he was just spouting the most basic, ignorant Russian propaganda that shows 0 understanding of history. So I can't vote for Reform any more.

Why? Is MN only for left and centre-left voters?

We were in this thing called 'the EU' where we could go to another country and do exactly all those things you said we couldn't do.

We threw that away.

Yes. Thats exactly what I meant.

Fofftwenty21 · 30/06/2024 16:26

@MeadowL what is it that makes you want to vote reform?

magentarain · 30/06/2024 16:27

Goldenbear · 30/06/2024 15:07

Are you joking- MN is not left wing, constant links to the DM and is all a bit shit these days!

EVERY time someone links the DM, it's full of comments scoffing at a poster who reads the "Daily Fail".

Looking at their manifesto it says NHS and social care staff to pay zero basic rate tax for 3 years. Write off student fees pro rata per year over 10 years of NHS service for all doctors, nurses and medical staff. Sounds good to me. Any NHS staff on here who think this is a good policy?

I read their manifesto the other day and the zero tax is for frontline NHS and social care staff, which seems a great way of causing division between front line and other staff. I work in a hospital, not front line, and at the moment feel like I and my colleagues form part of a team with the front line staff, all working for our patients. We work with and support the front like staff go deliver patient care. I'd feel massively undervalued if the government had a different tax policy for front line staff.

Also, think the manifesto said it was a way to encourage people to join and stay in the NHS, but it's no use getting more front line staff if you don't have enough of the other staff to support them. Seems Reform don't realise a hospital needs more than just frontline staff to function.

Motomum23 · 30/06/2024 10:59

I find it really amusing that all those who are against reform have. Nothing to say about the paid actor pretending to be a racist reform candidate. Its election interference and highly illegal - nazism at its absolute finest (if anyone remembers the burning of the reischtag)

That's absolute Trumpian nonsense spin. The man was campaigning in the Clacton seat where Farage is standing with three other well know Reform activists. He was at the reform headquarters. He used the racist slurs but it was one of the others close to Farage that disciples gay people as faggot degenerates.

Parker lists acting as one of his interests. Doesn't stop him being a rabid right winger. Look at Fox and Valance.

So easy to spin it into a conspiracy argument that just feeds the febrile imaginations of the extreme right.

They lied about Brexit so this will be all lies as well.

Thank you for posting this. Without non-frontline staff, the NHS would not run at all.

And how do you define frontline? There's nothing of substance in there at all.

Megifer · 30/06/2024 16:34

Yanbu to vote for whoever you want.

I was really surprised when my friend, who has voted Labour since I've known her, announced she was also voting Reform. I thought she was taking the piss tbh but she's dead serious.

Also a bit shocked when a few also said they were voting Reform in work recently, I cringed waiting for it to kick off but it was a weirdly respectable debate (while I pretended I was on a webinar)

I've always stayed out of chats about politics but if feels like it's more acceptable for people to share who they are voting for with this election 🤔

First they came for the Communists
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a Communist
Then they came for the Socialists
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a Socialist
Then they came for the trade unionists
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a trade unionist
Then they came for the Jews
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a Jew
Then they came for me
And there was no one left
To speak out for me

So no. I won't be voting for extremists, ever.

Not sure that is appropriate given the allegations against Justin.
Lostprophets next maybe?

Have a good long hard think about Brexit and all the lies that were told and how this country has benefitted from Brexit and how many lies were told during that campaign and you would trust that man???
