Looking at their manifesto it says NHS and social care staff to pay zero basic rate tax for 3 years. Write off student fees pro rata per year over 10 years of NHS service for all doctors, nurses and medical staff. Sounds good to me. Any NHS staff on here who think this is a good policy?

It’s easy to propose such policies when you haven’t got a chance of implementing them!

EasternStandard · 30/06/2024 15:14

France tries to stop them but expecting complete stoppage is, in the words of one French spokesperson, delusional

Traffickers will always find a way to get around barriers. If you think it’s just the U.K. look at Med crossings and voting in France, Italy and the EU issue generally

I'd like to know what we get from the French for our 50 odd million a year.

That's like saying I'm sick of pasta and potatoes, I'm going to rub my face in shit instead

Best response ever 😂

oh no I didn't realise documentation protected women from rape!

do you think all the women raped and murdered by 'indigenous' British men with full documentation know that?

these same people forget (or just ignore) the fact that we are statistically more likely to be sexually assaulted or raped by a man we know rather than a stranger.

bur that’s ok cos they just want the excuse to hate foreigners so they twist everything to suit that.

LlamaTwirl · 30/06/2024 15:21

I voted YANBU, it's your vote so you can use it to vote for whoever you like. It really doesn't matter what anyone else thinks.

Could the same be said for the other main parties as well though? I mean they're all saying that they are going to stop the small boat crossings, but the Conservatives haven't stopped them in 14 years so not sure Labour will be able to.

You can have a look but it’s surveillance which stops about 55% of traffic. It takes a lot to stop people as it’s such a vast problem with very high profits for traffickers

That may change it the far right get in there. They could easily clear out all their camp problems and Labour will do what?

I’m starting to suspect you are a troll. You think GB News provides a more balanced view than the BBC? The GB News which has been found to have breached impartiality guidelines? The one on which Nigel Farage has a show?

Are you a comedy writer?

Who are the indigenous people of the UK?

Missed the pro Labour threads and posters?

I think most people would agree they've been drowned out by the disproportionate number of private school parents on here.

I think it'll be a Labour rout. And I don't think Farage will join with the Tories. It would be a complete betrayal of the Reform voters and he's had enough of their weasly back stabbing.

My hatred for what the Tories have done to this country is really boundless. And for what? Personal and party political gain. The Labour party will continue to destroy the country but at least half of it will be because of their shitty ideology rather than pure grift.

VickyEadieofThigh · 30/06/2024 15:26

Movinghouseatlast · 30/06/2024 10:26

Voting for fascists is not the answer. Farage has already done his best to ruin this country.

This is how extremists gain power, people who don't have a brain in their heads.

Absolutely this.

Farage is just a power-hungry despot. He needs resisting as much as is humanly possible.

TizerorFizz · 30/06/2024 15:28

@Whatwhat123 Most political parties have to balance wants with finances and economic reality. If everyone had a wish list, whose do we listen to? I don’t want racists, bigots and those full of bile being listened to. We actually need them to change, to not blame others and to grasp the opportunities out there for them.

As for GB news! I assume Cooter is a GB news employee!

Indigenous population in Britain were Celtic Brythons (Britons).

Not many left these days 😂, as they yielded to the invading Angles, Saxons, Jutes and many other non-invading migrants that have come here since then.

2dogsandabudgie · 30/06/2024 15:32

StormingNorman · 30/06/2024 14:55

I do live in the southeast and have seen migrants being picked up by the coastguard when I’m out sailing, and hearing the coastguard siren go off continuously on good crossing days.

Unless we erect a ring of steel around the country a couple of hundred yards out to sea we are not going to stop people landing. And I don’t know about you, but I don’t want to live in some dystopian island prison.

The boats would stop if we didn't make it easy for the traffickers. Why do you think that if we stopped the small boats out island would become dystopian? We would still have immigration but it would be legal and we would know who was coming into the country.

derxa · 30/06/2024 15:32

pandasorous · 30/06/2024 15:11

I have never said I have a problem with this

I want the boat crossings to stop and the poor asylum seekers to stop dying in the channel. I want proper safe and legal pathways for asylum seekers to come to the UK. i want refugees around the world to be treated humanely and there to be a fair processing system that helps those who are displaced.

while we were part of the eu, there were far fewer crossings as France had a vested interest in preventing them.

also about 95% of immigration numbers are made up of legal immigrants here on work visas etc. this has increased because our own labour market is dead for various reasons. small boat crossings and undocumented asylum seekers make up a very small proportion of the numbers.

I was responding to a point that a previous poster made where they said the reason asylum seekers are more likely to assault women is because they don't have documents

I said nothing of the sort. I simply said that it is not a good idea to allow undocumented people into this country and you know it.

I bet that's not what the deleted Reform supporter meant, though. Or any of the Reformites who wang on about the UK's indigenous people/natives etc.

They obviously don't know the meaning of the word indigenous.
