It's interesting that the poll sits at 21% YANBU. Which is about what the general opinion polls are saying. But given how left wing it is on here I think that speaks volumes about how much secret support Reform have. I wouldn't be surprised if they got 25% vote share on Thursday.

I'll be voting for them because I want to see the Tories completely obliterated and a stake driven through their zombie corpse. They haven't conserved anything in this country. They've pillaged and looted it while throwing open the door even wider to mass immigration. They're just an obstacle to a sincere conservative movement rising and they must be finished off.

Are you joking- MN is not left wing, constant links to the DM and is all a bit shit these days!

chosenone · 30/06/2024 15:08

Im a consistentl Labour voter, not hugely enthralled by Keir but I remain Labour on most issues. I know loads of people voting Reform. I live in a working-class red wall area. Lots of trad labour voters completely disillusioned with the main parties. Lots of new immigrants have arrived here, no problems that I know of but when you're languishing on a housing list for years I can see where jealously and divide breeds.

The ‘intolerant left’ winds people in my community up. Less educated people, people with mental health problems are allowed to vote for who they want, even if they haven't thought it through and have just listened to sound bites. Also, lots of people I speak to claim not be racists but many do take issue with Islam. It is certainly a faith that does not align well with western values.

Excellent. I don’t want another showman representing me. I want a competent politician. I’d actual prefer them a bit dull and boring.

Absolutely @cardibach Substance over “style”.

I do live in the southeast and have seen migrants being picked up by the coastguard when I’m out sailing, and hearing the coastguard siren go off continuously on good crossing days.

Unless we erect a ring of steel around the country a couple of hundred yards out to sea we are not going to stop people landing. And I don’t know about you, but I don’t want to live in some dystopian island prison.

Dismantling the criminal gangs exploiting desperate people for money is likely to be a better tactic than demonising those who get on the boats.

I don’t disagree, but I still think people who want to live and work in this country should be vetted and have job prospects… other countries like Australia do this, I don’t see why it’s beyond us.

Aus have had strong border policies for some time now. It’s bi partisan no party will touch it

TizerorFizz · 30/06/2024 15:09

In FPTP, you can have millions of votes and never win a seat. Reform may get a few seats in the poorest areas but they are going to have to work hard in most areas. Can you imagine Farage in the House of Commons? Awful thought. Many MPs have done jobs first. Not all went to Dulwich College then into city trading and developed such a loud mouth!

It used to be not incredibly so but it isn’t anymore, so the polls are probably accurate.

Put you in danger how, with a knife, gun?

Well he's up on charges of rape so.....

Missymoo100 · 30/06/2024 14:50

Is wanting people to be vetted before becoming a resident such a terrible idea, really??? Perhaps we could like, ya know monitor sex offenders? Or stop criminals border hopping to evade justice - I mean going on your logic let’s just scrap criminal records checks altogether.

I have never said I have a problem with this

I want the boat crossings to stop and the poor asylum seekers to stop dying in the channel. I want proper safe and legal pathways for asylum seekers to come to the UK. i want refugees around the world to be treated humanely and there to be a fair processing system that helps those who are displaced.

while we were part of the eu, there were far fewer crossings as France had a vested interest in preventing them.

also about 95% of immigration numbers are made up of legal immigrants here on work visas etc. this has increased because our own labour market is dead for various reasons. small boat crossings and undocumented asylum seekers make up a very small proportion of the numbers.

I was responding to a point that a previous poster made where they said the reason asylum seekers are more likely to assault women is because they don't have documents

2dogsandabudgie · 30/06/2024 15:12

Foundanotherwrinkle · 30/06/2024 14:22

Well, there's the one where he wants to make healthcare similar to American healthcare and make everyone have insurance and bye bye free NHS

Where have you read this, if you look at their manifesto it says they want to adopt a French style health service.

there is something so dark and vile about him. every time I hear him talk, I feel sick and reminded of all the men who groped me and sexually assaulted me.

The intolerant right should wind the same people up as do you think they are aligned with people on housing waiting lists, seriously the intolerant right wonder where the work ethic has gone in this country!

France tries to stop them but expecting complete stoppage is, in the words of one French spokesperson, delusional

Traffickers will always find a way to get around barriers. If you think it’s just the U.K. look at Med crossings and voting in France, Italy and the EU issue generally

Whatwhat123 · 30/06/2024 15:16

The people I know that are voting for reform certainly aren't stupid, or racists, and I think a lot of the messages on here are just a reflection of the polarisation in society now.

I live in a poor town with many asylum seekers in hotels, there's a lot of young men hanging around, it's easy to see why people want immigration to be brought down to more sustainable levels.

Someone I know said they aren't that comfortable with voting for them and disliked Farage, but are sick of the people in power not listening to what the people want. It's essentially why the country voted for brexit, and I can see more people voting reform unless one of the main parties makes a more meaningful effort at resolving the issue.

it's true

the truth is humans have always migrated and moved around. it's just in bigger numbers now.

but focusing on this instead of the real reasons why the country has been going downhill does nobody any good

2dogsandabudgie · 30/06/2024 15:17

MintyVesta · 30/06/2024 14:48

@2dogsandabudgie

I this would encourage NHS staff to move to the private sector, money would be going to the more profitable business, leaving the NHS worse off.

I think the core belief, however it’s dressed up - is that individualism is valued and promoted over all else.

Had ReformUK been in power over the pandemic, the NHS would have collapsed. Anyone vulnerable would not have stood a chance. Farage’s sentiments were in line with Modi/Bolsonaro etc

Looking at their manifesto it says NHS and social care staff to pay zero basic rate tax for 3 years. Write off student fees pro rata per year over 10 years of NHS service for all doctors, nurses and medical staff. Sounds good to me. Any NHS staff on here who think this is a good policy?

A big problem today is that a lot of people get their news from ultra left wing organisations like the BBC and they become indoctrinated and they brand anyone different as a racist or facist.

That old chestnut 🤣

Just saying we aren’t all morons surely? I am well educated.

Depends on why you're voting for them to be honest?

Honestly, because there is no way I am voting Tory or labour.

lib dem and green are a waste of a vote because they will not get in. So that leaves reform.

I don’t want to vote for any of them tbh but I will vote, I appreciate all the efforts made in the past to allow me to do so
