Gosh the Russian bots are out in force today! Sorry, I mean the ‘reform supporters’ of course..

THIS!!!

So many 'aren't Labour terrible' and 'Muslim invasion' posts.

They must think we're stupid.

I can understand why people might leap from Tory to Reform, but Labour to Reform is such a huge leap.

People who might have voted Labour, but don't want to for any reason, are much more likely to go Lib Dem, Green, anoth r left wing party or even Tory before they leap to an extreme right party.

Oh yes, remind me what is Andrew Tate’s ‘business’ again, how does his business keep us in the G7?

im Not from the Uk. So all I can read about them is online.

coukd you explain to me what it is that appeals to you?

Our local Reform candidate is qualified due to her 'lived experiences'.

sleekcat · 30/06/2024 14:55

I definitely will not be.

Before the boats it was people being smuggled in lorries and then they had a big clamp down on that when 50 odd migrants perished. Since then the people smugglers have used boats. If they had escorted the very first boat back to France and made it quite clear that anyone trying to get into the UK this way would be sent back then we wouldn't be where we are today. I can guarantee you that if it was the other way round, this is what the French would do. The only people benefitting are the traffickers.

Unless you live in the South East you have no idea how this has impacted on people's lives. I think everyone agrees that we need immigration but it has to be controlled. Our population in terms of percentage per land mass has grown much more than France or Germany in the last 20-30 years.

I do live in the southeast and have seen migrants being picked up by the coastguard when I’m out sailing, and hearing the coastguard siren go off continuously on good crossing days.

Unless we erect a ring of steel around the country a couple of hundred yards out to sea we are not going to stop people landing. And I don’t know about you, but I don’t want to live in some dystopian island prison.

Surely even if Reform is attractive at the top level once you look at the individual candidates it isn’t.

Exactly. Neither pasta nor potatoes.

I think an awful lot of you are going to be shocked come 5th July.

Lots and lots of people I speak to are voting Reform, younger people too. I think people are fed up of swinging between labour and conservatives and essentially getting ‘same shit, different government’.

People are so disillusioned that they’re going to say ‘shit or bust’ and vote for the extreme. Just to execute change.

Change for the worse.

Has anyone tried this?

https://uk.isidewith.com/

I tried it and the parties that ranked closest to my beliefs was Labour first, and LibDems a close second (75% and 73%.) Greens was third at 65%, Womens Equality Party was fourth with 63%, and 'Workers party of Britain' was fifth with 60%.

I got LibDem and Rejoin EU (didn't know there was such a party!), closely followed by Labour and Green; then Women's Equality Party,

The manifesto looks pretty positive to me. It deals with many issues that people on this forum complain about.

Is wanting people to be vetted before becoming a resident such a terrible idea, really??? Perhaps we could like, ya know monitor sex offenders? Or stop criminals border hopping to evade justice - I mean going on your logic let’s just scrap criminal records checks altogether.

Or we could actually prosecute rapists. We barely do under the Tories.

Believe me I’m as far away as a woman obsessed with such a character as you can imagine! Interesting as I thought Farage said that Tate was an important voice for men.

I don’t disagree, but I still think people who want to live and work in this country should be vetted and have job prospects… other countries like Australia do this, I don’t see why it’s beyond us.

It's interesting that the poll sits at 21% YANBU. Which is about what the general opinion polls are saying. But given how left wing it is on here I think that speaks volumes about how much secret support Reform have. I wouldn't be surprised if they got 25% vote share on Thursday.

I'll be voting for them because I want to see the Tories completely obliterated and a stake driven through their zombie corpse. They haven't conserved anything in this country. They've pillaged and looted it while throwing open the door even wider to mass immigration. They're just an obstacle to a sincere conservative movement rising and they must be finished off.

Apart from some asylum seekers they do. And asylum seekers are a tiny fraction of immigration. No country can ever ensure actual illegal immigrants are documented because if they become known to authorities then they have to go through processes to make them not illegal - which result in documentation or removal.

Excellent. I don’t want another showman representing me. I want a competent politician. I’d actual prefer them a bit dull and boring.

The question isn’t whether we support Reform. It’s whether she’s unreasonable to vote for them - and as several posters have pointed out she is not as we live in a democracy. The vote here in no way indicates support for reform. Anyway, I don’t think MN is particularly left wing, taken as a whole.
