That's like saying I'm sick of pasta and potatoes, I'm going to rub my face in shit instead

Grow up

HunterDuke · 30/06/2024 14:42

God this thread is depressing. Like being at a family BBQ with all ages. My 80yo mum announced unprompted she would vote reform as she doesn't think women should be at work after they have had kids. The whole family gasped at that one. She seems to think the 1950s is where we should be. Reform are doing now what they did in Brexit, unfounded and endless lies aimed at putting a massive wedge between us as a society. They just disrupt. Vote how you want, it's your right, but maybe the fact you feel you need to justify it by starting this thread says something.

derxa · 30/06/2024 14:37

😆
Male babies born in this country have documentation. Young men coming across on boats don't. We don't know who they are. I have no solution for this problem though.

oh no I didn't realise documentation protected women from rape!

do you think all the women raped and murdered by 'indigenous' British men with full documentation know that?

What makes you feel you need permission? It just shows the power and influence of the left in this country. They pretty much run the universities, the arts, the libraries, the BBC, and the publishing industry. And they've convinced people that to be good means to be left-wing. It's just nonsense. Some of the nastiest, most spiteful, hate-filled people I know are left-wing.

Labour are going to ruin people's lives. They'll allow immigration to spiral out of control, and then cover the green belt in disgusting rabbit hutch houses. What about people like me, who are introverts and desperately want (and need) fields and trees and space and silence? Why am I bothering to work? What do I get in return? My local woods have been hacked down to make way for two giant new estates, and a second huge estate has been built at the other end of the village. I feel like I'm drowning under a sea of new houses. I'm woken up at night by the screeching of boy racer cars, and kids from the new estates now sell drugs in the field behind my house. But I'm a horrible little NIMBY, so I deserve to suffer don't I.

I'll tell you this, if Labour win with a huge majority, and then they lower the voting age and fiddle with the voting system to ensure they stay in power, I will quit my job and live on benefits. I will sit back and take, take, take. If I'm going to be surrounded by housing estates and noise and anti-social behaviour, why should I bother working? I might as well give up, claim I'm ill, and go and live in a social housing flat. After ten years of Labour this country will be such a horrible place to live that there'll be no incentive to work and save – and nowhere worth living anyway (unless you are super rich).

Everything you’ve described as horrible there has happened under the Tories. They’ve held power for 14 years. They’ve held power for the majority of the last 100 years. How have you kidded yourself that the left have all the power and will somehow make worse the horrible things that have happened while someone else was in power?

HunterDuke · 30/06/2024 14:44

Voting aside - do what you like - Can someone please explain the term 'indigenous' to me in this context as to me it's as offensive as it is wildly wrong.

pandasorous · 30/06/2024 14:44

@derxa also all the British men with their documents going to Thailand and abusing little kids... missed the part where them having documentation protected those kids...

It’s not a ‘Reform bashing’ thread. The OP started it because she is in favour of Reform. It’s just that as soon as you look at the behaviour of Reform candidates, and the pie-in-the-sky nature of their ‘manifesto’, you can’t help but criticise them. Fair criticism isn’t ‘bashing’.

TizerorFizz · 30/06/2024 14:45

@Cooter Thsts because Nige likes GB News! They want rid of the bbc. That’s the Tory right too. In fact most Reform utterings are against the state or individuals. They are narcissistic, out for themselves, feel others don’t understand them, blame everyone else, dislike ethnic minorities, dislike paying towards benefits (but accept a lot of them), don’t value MFLs, don’t like anyone coming here for work, but don’t want to do it themselves and still thinks Brexit was a good move. In other words - deluded and foolish.

If any of our friends believed this tosh we would cool our friendship. We have to stand up against it.

This question has been asked and no Reform UK PLC supporter will clarify what they mean.

I wonder why?

daisychain01 · 30/06/2024 14:47

The only reason I voted YANBU is that you aren't being unreasonable to vote for whichever political party you choose to, we're a democracy.

it doesn't mean to say I agree with you (I don't, I find Nigel Farage a seductive but unpleasant, bigoted and abusive character who happens to have the gift of the gab, but no actual substance).

I am sorry I have not read the whole thread so my point may have already been covered.

This is from the 'bit of paper' ReformUK put through my door, "Only Reform UK will turn the boats back to France and leave the undemocratic ECHR."

Why do you want to vote away your own personal human rights? I really don't get it. Have you not thought carefully about this! Surely it is abject stupidity on your part OP.

cardibach · 30/06/2024 14:47

It may be that Labour will make some small improvements, although I have seen no signs of this as yet
ummm…@rainingsnoring they aren't in power. How can they make changes?

Grmumpy · 30/06/2024 14:48

What I don’t understand is why, with not one elected mp, Nigel farage as reform leader gets so much television and radio time..as in party political broadcasts, not just his usual ranting on.

MintyVesta · 30/06/2024 14:48

@2dogsandabudgie

I this would encourage NHS staff to move to the private sector, money would be going to the more profitable business, leaving the NHS worse off.

I think the core belief, however it’s dressed up - is that individualism is valued and promoted over all else.

Had ReformUK been in power over the pandemic, the NHS would have collapsed. Anyone vulnerable would not have stood a chance. Farage’s sentiments were in line with Modi/Bolsonaro etc

What are there actual policies? How they going to keep us in the G7, how they going to promote economic growth? That just hate most things and most people and think Andrew Tate speaks for men- I mean what? How can anyone vote for that

Is wanting people to be vetted before becoming a resident such a terrible idea, really??? Perhaps we could like, ya know monitor sex offenders? Or stop criminals border hopping to evade justice - I mean going on your logic let’s just scrap criminal records checks altogether.

WorriedMama12 · 30/06/2024 14:50

You're not being unreasonable to vote for them. We live in a democratic society and people can vote for any candidate they wish. Democracy and free speech/will still exist.

What is it about their manifesto that makes you want to vote for them?

It's the right wing media.

VimtoVimto · 30/06/2024 14:51

Surely even if Reform is attractive at the top level once you look at the individual candidates it isn’t.
