YANBU for voting for who you want.

I won’t be voting Reform but other people are perfectly entitled to if they want to.

No, it isn't.

What makes you feel you need permission? It just shows the power and influence of the left in this country. They pretty much run the universities, the arts, the libraries, the BBC, and the publishing industry. And they've convinced people that to be good means to be left-wing. It's just nonsense. Some of the nastiest, most spiteful, hate-filled people I know are left-wing.

Labour are going to ruin people's lives. They'll allow immigration to spiral out of control, and then cover the green belt in disgusting rabbit hutch houses. What about people like me, who are introverts and desperately want (and need) fields and trees and space and silence? Why am I bothering to work? What do I get in return? My local woods have been hacked down to make way for two giant new estates, and a second huge estate has been built at the other end of the village. I feel like I'm drowning under a sea of new houses. I'm woken up at night by the screeching of boy racer cars, and kids from the new estates now sell drugs in the field behind my house. But I'm a horrible little NIMBY, so I deserve to suffer don't I.

I'll tell you this, if Labour win with a huge majority, and then they lower the voting age and fiddle with the voting system to ensure they stay in power, I will quit my job and live on benefits. I will sit back and take, take, take. If I'm going to be surrounded by housing estates and noise and anti-social behaviour, why should I bother working? I might as well give up, claim I'm ill, and go and live in a social housing flat. After ten years of Labour this country will be such a horrible place to live that there'll be no incentive to work and save – and nowhere worth living anyway (unless you are super rich).

Two points:

  1. This has all happened under the Tory goverment.
  2. It's not just about you and what you can take from others. You profess to hate 'the left wing' and then propose to become the very stereotype detested by the right wing that you apparently favour. That's more than a bit confused!

You are of course free to vote however you choose, but I think this party is dangerous.

I understand the disillusionment and the want for change. And I can imagine we will see a surge of protest votes until the mainstream parties manage to improve, if they ever do.

You do realise the Tories have been in power for 14 years - so why are you blaming Labour for your peace and quiet being affected?
The Tories have also seen a massive rise in illegal migrants - so why are you forecasting that Labour will do worse?
And yes, they'll win by a massive majority. Thankfully, because the country has been destroyed - not by Labour but by the Conservatives.

Yes, people can vote for who they want, and I can speak out against them if I want.

I don't consider far right wingers to be stupid; I consider them to be dangerous.

How do you close The Channel?

Before the boats it was people being smuggled in lorries and then they had a big clamp down on that when 50 odd migrants perished. Since then the people smugglers have used boats. If they had escorted the very first boat back to France and made it quite clear that anyone trying to get into the UK this way would be sent back then we wouldn't be where we are today. I can guarantee you that if it was the other way round, this is what the French would do. The only people benefitting are the traffickers.

Unless you live in the South East you have no idea how this has impacted on people's lives. I think everyone agrees that we need immigration but it has to be controlled. Our population in terms of percentage per land mass has grown much more than France or Germany in the last 20-30 years.

I am voting reform. So is everyone I have discussed the election with.

All my dd18 friends, their boyfriends etc.

Just saying we aren’t all morons surely? I am well educated.

My parents are too, they are also well educated.

So as far as I can see it, teens right up to the retired are looking for change and voting reform…

what's your definition of well educated?

Foundanotherwrinkle · 30/06/2024 14:16

greengreyblue · 30/06/2024 10:31

You have a right to vote for anyone you choose. Only you know if their views align with yours. No one party is perfect. They’re definitely not for me though.

quoted wrong post, page jumped!

Gilead · 30/06/2024 14:16

Ye gods, since when has the been been left wing - Nick Robinson, Jeremy Paxman et al.

Ann Widdecombe is a MONSTER OF PURE EVIL. I hated her even when she was a Tory and was already trying to promote the Christian Right in this country. I hate her even more now that she's Reform.

Depends on why you're voting for them to be honest?

As opposed to the thousands of women (and men) who are sexually assaulted by white British blokes every year you mean.

Why add more potential sexual predators?
I would never vote Reform but none of the other parties have my interests at heart.

Rather harsh of you to say that!

Well my local Reform candidate is know as the local’nutter’. He had nothing sensible to say at the hustings apart from climate change is a myth etc. 🙄
He’s been banned from the local pub numerous times including for trying to sit there naked and for threatening his partner in there with a shotgun! He was removed by the police. He also had an altercation with someone fishing from his land and they ended up in the river.

Name please.
