Shut the borders, lower energy bills and hopefully shut people like you up.

It will be a frosty day in hell before that creep Farage shuts me up!!

Missymoo100 · 30/06/2024 13:16

Not unreasonable at all, that’s the point in a democracy. I will be voting reform. I like how people somehow think the record breaking levels of immigration is somehow suddenly a normal situation, “nothing to see here”. Or the people that ask for a “source” regarding lack of housing or hospital appointments- is it not self evident enough.

I don't think anyone is questioning the fact that immigration levels are at record highs, that we have a housing crisis or that the NHS is broken.

Rather, they are questioning the intelligence and motivations of anyone who thinks that Reform could possibly be the solution to any of these issues.

Confusedbythistreat · 30/06/2024 10:22

Er, nope.

There are Lib Dems and the Green Party you know??

Really? Up here in Scotland the Greens are as mad as a box of frogs. The LKib Dems do not know what a woman is, either.

This!

A big problem today is that a lot of people get their news from ultra left wing organisations like the BBC and they become indoctrinated and they brand anyone different as a racist or facist.

Total nonsense

What grim circles you move in.

Not necessarily.@MeadowL did not say what they were saying. I know a lot of people who are talking about Reform too, but the conversation is mainly about what a charlatan Farage is, how there is no credible manifesto, and how people can't possibly think there is any credibility to them at all.

Maybe that's the same for @MeadowL ?

RafaistheKingofClay · 30/06/2024 13:22

Wordsmithery · 30/06/2024 13:01

BBC ultra left... You jest, surely? 😂

OP jumped the shark way too early here with her second post.

Yes I have read the Reform manifesto, no I still wouldn’t touch them with a barge pole.

samarrange · 30/06/2024 13:24

SocoBateVira · 30/06/2024 13:17

Heh.

I've heard similar before from genuinely right wing people. They prioritise competence. If you actually want strong, right wing government, that's just... not really what Farage is for. Isn't his skillset.

In a way I'm quite looking forward to there being 4 or 5 Reform MPs. They will presumably mostly be utter clowns (like the bloke who decided to stand because there were lots of people in the passport queue when he came back from holiday and thought they were all immigrants because he was standing at "Immigration"), and/or conspiracy loons, and/or have multiple previous convictions for unpaid council tax.

Confusedbythistreat · 30/06/2024 10:22

Er, nope.

In Scotland the SNP. I vote for whichever candidate, Labour, Tory or Lib Dem will stop the SNP winning. But in the imaginary scenario of it being an SNP and Reform fight I'd vote SNP.

Tukmgru · 30/06/2024 13:27

Willyoujustbequiet · 30/06/2024 13:10

Bless your heart.

Dozens of the candidates are friends of Gary Raikes. There is literally a banner on fb with Mosley.

If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck...it's a fascist trying to deny they are a fascist.

@Willyoujustbequiet i am so happy that someone else knows who Gary ‘couldn’t even get his mum to support his fascist movement’ Raikes is. I bet he’s voting reform! He’s certainly been retweeting quite a lot of reform supporters and content about the party corporation.

Missymoo100 · 30/06/2024 13:28

When people think their concerns are being ignored by the two main political parties, and they have roughly similar policies/objectives , I’m not suprised people are backing an alternative. This is the fault of the main two parties.

Startingagainandagain · 30/06/2024 13:28

I would not dream of voting for this 'party'.

Because I can't support a man like Farage who:

  1. said Andrew Tate was an important voice for men. Tate is a misogynist/sexist pig currently facing criminal charges
  2. thinks Russia was right to invade Ukraine
  3. is a wealthy, privately educated man who is trying to pass himself as a 'man of the people'
  4. welcomed candidates and canvassers who have racist and homophobic views
  5. seem to have only one policy to peddle: blaming immigrants for everything
  6. was instrumental in selling the Brexit lies.

Basically I would never vote Reform because I am not a gullible, racist and xenophobic individual and I find far right parties despicable, whether they are led by Farage or Le Pen.

Jumpingthruhoops · 30/06/2024 13:29

wastingtimeonhere · 30/06/2024 12:28

With a few days to go, I still have no idea who to vote for...morally weak, bigoted, liars, self-serving, deluded, corrupt...describes all the parties...the choices are utterly shit. Politics is in a very poor state in this country.

The name calling and insults, though aimed at reform supporters, also doesn't sit with me, calling them thick etc

The main parties and MN posters need to question why they have gathered supporters and address those issues rather than relying on insults.

100% this! I suspect they fear, if they actually dared ask those people, that there's a chance they might agree with what they say. It's therefore much easier - and safer - to project insults!

HauntedPollingBooth · 30/06/2024 13:31

Viviennemary · 30/06/2024 12:26

I find it terribly irritating that the media are doing their best to smear Reform. Rishi Sunak accepted large donations to the Consevstive party from a person who made racist remarks. He admitted it this morning on TV. Hypocrital much.

Frstly, I don't think the media are 'smearing' Reform. They are reporting on the things Reform candidates have done and said.

Secondly, they are doing the same thing to the Conservative party in terms of reporting on their election campaign gaffes and wider sleaze, and at least one side of the media have absolutely called out the Frank Hester donations. It's the Conservative party's choice not to have returned those donations and made a proper apology, and that is on them.

If you're talking about the right wing media who have been apologists for the Tories throughout, then I agree with you.

In what way do labour and the conservatives have similar policies and objectives right now?

They are miles apart. If that’s the reason people are voting reform, you can’t exactly blame people for pointing out they might not be the sharpest tools in the box.

Really? Have you read this thread? Almost every anti-Reform post brands them as racist, fascist or xenophobic.

Mischance · 30/06/2024 13:32

A vote for reform is:

  1. A vote down the pan as they cannot win the seat. Why waste your vote?
  2. A vote for racist misogynist pigs. Why get tarred with that brush?

I won't be voting for Reform because they wouldn't solve any issues, they'd drag this country back to the stone age.

Then there's the one's who believe the right wing. Honestly you vote for them you must be thick as too short planks. It's equivalent to those voting for Trump in the US election.🙄🤔

If you are so ill informed about politics in general that you think the BBC is “ultra left wing” then no wonder you are fine with voting Reform.

Jifmicroliquid · 30/06/2024 12:50

It just baffles me how vile people get about it. I have friends who have very different political views to me, because they have lived different lives and different things are important to them.
I don’t feel the need to call them out, unfriend them or anything else as utterly ridiculous. I simply accept that we have different political leanings, we vote for who we believe fits us best, and then we continue to go about our everyday lives.

Same with Brexit. I know that several good friends of mine voted in favour of it, and that’s absolutely fine. They felt that way about it and they used their vote, as I did mine.

I despair of humans and their atrocious behaviour when it comes to elections and voting. People need to grow up.

Completely agree with this. I have never fallen out with anyone over their political beliefs. In fact I don't even know who family and friends are voting for. Why would I, it's a secret ballot.

Lifeomars · 30/06/2024 13:36

What is it about the self styled "man of the people" Nigel Farage that appeals to you? Is it the fact that in real life he is a privately educated former city trader who banks with Coutts or maybe it is the way he sidled up to a Jewish fellow pupil and sang "Gas em all, gas em all" as a school boy and praised the Hitler Youth. Maybe it was Brexit, that utter disaster that has all but ruined this country and restricted our young people's former freedom to live and work in Europe. Or perhaps it is the appeal of paying £25 p.a. to belong to a private company which does not allow members to vote on leadership or policies. Then there is his interview style, as soon as he is challenged he cannot present a fact based counter argument, he just resorts to anger and insults and then plays the victim, hardly qualities one would want in a leader of any party let alone a purported future PM. He will never be PM but it is part of his game plan, Nigel is all for Nigel and he uses the ignorant, the dispossessed, the racist, the greedy and the selfish to further his ambitions. Do you like Putin apologists and Trump fans? if so, then Nigel is your guy, go ahead and vote Reform.
