if only this was available when I first came to the UK at the age of 12

the boarding school I went to gave me decent knowledge of everything else but left me very much lacking in the morris dancing department. also a compulsory bike situation would have helped with my weight situation.

You're just not British enough yet. Keep working on it.

Another one who doesn’t have a clue what fascist means the irony of someone trying to control how others vote while saying they are fascists is just chefs kiss.

Bless your heart.

Dozens of the candidates are friends of Gary Raikes. There is literally a banner on fb with Mosley.

If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck...it's a fascist trying to deny they are a fascist.

Yep. Slightly better than most national polling. Does that suggest that MN is ever so slightly more racist than society as a whole?

FeelingHotHotHotFeelingHotHotHot · 30/06/2024 13:10

Has anyone tried this?

https://uk.isidewith.com/

I tried it and the parties that ranked closest to my beliefs was Labour first, and LibDems a close second (75% and 73%.) Greens was third at 65%, Womens Equality Party was fourth with 63%, and 'Workers party of Britain' was fifth with 60%.

I will be voting reform and most people I have talked to (which isn't a high amount) have stated they will be too.

There are lots of negative views on MN's regarding reform. There is lots of name-calling and and belittling of reform voters. I take it with a pinch of salt. There is a lot of misinformation being posted as well from people who have clearly not read their actual manifesto but are just repeating nonsense spouted by the media.

Do your research and don't be swayed by the opinions of anonymous people on a forum.

If you're voting Reform you clearly haven't done any research or you have extremely questionable views!

any advice on how I can achieve that would be most welcome...
Morris dancing classes?
getting a tattoo of the union jack on my face?

Ahh I see now, you’re joking! Nobody can be this stupid surely?

Also, it’s you’re, not your.

My comment regarding abolishing the equality act is correct. They also plan to abolish multiple employment laws. As you've said that you are voting for them, I'm curious as to why? If you want to discuss? Because I can't for the life of me think why anyone would want working life to be harder or to diminish the rights of disabled people - 1in 4 people in their lifetime will become disabled. It all doesn't feel very British to me. Even the English Democrats have better social policies if you really hate brown people.

Sense of style? It's well known that Genghis' downfall came about after the then equivalent of Gok Kwan criticised his matching of polka dots with stripes...

feellikeanalien · 30/06/2024 13:13

Nigel Farage is only interested in Nigel Farage. He was supposed to be going to the US to help Donald Trump get elected then suddenly decided to stand for election.

If you believe he did this because he really cares about the UK and its people then I am afraid you will be sorely disappointed. He is a sharp operator who has identified that many people feel disenfranchised and are struggling to make ends meet so he gives them someone to blame. If the people of Clacton elect him and think they will be getting an MP who will properly represent the constituency then look at his record when he was an MEP.

He is only out for himself. I don't really know enough about his backers to say whether there is Russian influence but my feeling is that he wants to get into Parliament to give himself visibility with the view to eventually defecting to the Tories and trying to become leader. That is a truly worrying prospect.

The main problem is that all the other parties don't inspire confidence in their abilities to get the country out of the mess it is in. I find it quite depressing that my vote in this election will be going to the least awful option rather than a party I feel confident and hopeful about. This is certainly not like 1997.

It might be a small part of it but I don't think it's the main one. We had Trump elected and Brexit voted for years before the pandemic appeared.

I'm talking about the UK specifially, and in 2016 the 18-24 age cohort had the lowest Brexit vote.

That said, I don't think this is the only reason either.

Same

This is why there should be an intelligence test before people are allowed to vote.

Same here, everyone I know is voting for reform

Missymoo100 · 30/06/2024 13:16

Not unreasonable at all, that’s the point in a democracy. I will be voting reform. I like how people somehow think the record breaking levels of immigration is somehow suddenly a normal situation, “nothing to see here”. Or the people that ask for a “source” regarding lack of housing or hospital appointments- is it not self evident enough.

Too late. Brexshit happened. We failed the intelligence test 🤦‍♂️

Fullfatandfortyplus · 30/06/2024 13:16

Watching Farage live on tv now at his rally in Birmingham and I don’t think any other politician right now would get a massive cheering crowd like this. Lots young people there too.

FilthyforFirth · 30/06/2024 13:16

Reform are going to surprise a lot of people.

Everyone I know is talking about them.

What grim circles you move in.

Me. I have already postal voted. Why? It is a protest vote otherwise I would have spoiled my vote. I told my mum and she shouted "oh no" Grin but I explained that I wanted to shake up the system.

I am watching as our indigenous population's concerns are being ignored, ridiculed and shut down. "No debate" didn't work when Stonewall succeeded in their desire to centre men in order to destroy women's single sex spaces. "No debate" causes massive resentment, anger and frustration. Clear, honest talking and working out how to solve problems is the only way to resolve them.

I have got my popcorn out and will wait to see what happens next.

Heh.

I've heard similar before from genuinely right wing people. They prioritise competence. If you actually want strong, right wing government, that's just... not really what Farage is for. Isn't his skillset.
