Surely the 'squashed middle' need the NHS? I think that people have every right to vote for your own interests but the problem is that the Tories managed to convince people that they represent average, hardworking people. The reality is that only a small percentage of people actually benefit from a Tory government.

Well yes, but under Labour l imagine they'll soon have to pay for it, like we now have to pay for the NHS dentist, those on benefits will still get it free, the wealthy will be private or not be overly impacted by the fees. But we'll be expected to pay with a smile chanting 'we're so lucky to work and pay taxes.. the greater good'.

Is there a chance that people voting for reform as a protest vote will have the same effect as the Brexit vote?

Unlikely with constituencies set as they are. Most generous poll I’ve seen suggested 8 seats. Most suggest far less.

IncompleteSenten · 30/06/2024 11:45

Labour.
I want the Tories out and in my constituency, labour has the only shot of beating them.

Swiftea · 30/06/2024 11:47

Labour. The Conservatives have ruined this country which is worse in every way since 2010. No way on earth do they deserve another 5 years.

Reform

  1. Reduce immigration
  2. Defund the BBC
  3. End the green nonsense
  4. Depoliticise the QANGOS & civil service
  5. Public inquiry into excess deaths & vaccine harms
  6. They know what a woman is
Edited

I totally agree.

DontBiteTheCat · 30/06/2024 10:34

Yes the Tories do know what the definition of a woman is. They don’t give a fuck about them though.

Labour are misogynistic? Boris Johnson literally voted against making misogyny a hate crime.

Rape convictions in England and Wales fell to historic lows under this government. In 2022, 99% of reported rapes did not end in a conviction. Ninety. Nine. Percent.

Should I talk about the shocking maternity care, the closure of domestic violence services and refuges or the lack of mental health support under the Tories too?

But they know how to SAY “A woman is an adult human female”, so actions don’t matter 🙄

Edited

I think women using this as a reason to vote Tory are merely trying to make excuses for what they know is unreasonable. Hiding behind it just like when people who didn't care about racism used antisemitism as an excuse not to vote Labour.

That's not what happened under the last Labour government. They made things fairer for the majority of people. If the Tories get in again there will be no NHS for anyone, regardless of income.

  1. Reduce immigration (lowering British productivity, economic success, and providing less tax revenue)
  2. Defund the BBC (removing a critical impartial voice which could oppose their pro-Russian agenda)
  3. End the green nonsense (by making us more dependent on Russian oil & gas)
  4. Depoliticise the QANGOS & civil service (to give themselves no checks and balances, allowing them to pursue a destabilising pro-Russian agenda)
  5. Public inquiry into excess deaths & vaccine harms (what a waste of money)
  6. They know what a woman is (removing the Equality act, forcing you into work after 2 offers, privatising the NHS for profit and supporting the likes of Andrew Tate are misogynistic policies which erode women’s rights)
Didimum · 30/06/2024 12:15

Labour. Our Tory MP is awful (and that’s not simply because they are Tory, I quite liked the Tory MP in our previous area). I have always voted Lib Dem, but Labour is the only viable option here.

On a national level, I am pro adding VAT to private education, pro green energy, against meaningless tax cuts, and … oh, yes, against immoral corruption in parliament to the tune of breaking Covid law, betting scandals, conducting affairs in your place of work, a PM criticising racist comments only to take millions in donations from a know racist, fudging personal expenses and correct tax report, failures to declare business interests, maintaining tax loop holes for personal gain, multiple failures to elect a party leader, sex offenders and viewing porn in the House of Commons.

Run out of room now.

I’m starting to think the same!

Bushmillsbabe · 30/06/2024 12:36

I'm struggling, up until recently I would have said labour. But several things putting me off

  • attitude on women, I have 2 daughters so this is high on agenda for me
  • there is a new Labour mp in our area and she is a very unpleasant person, very much 'do as i say' rather than 'do as i do'. Very derogatory towards nhs staff and children wuth disabilities. She is an acquaintance of a friend and just horrible.
  • attitude towards pensioners. Gordon Brown raided the private pension of my hard working parents, and now Labour are going after anyone with a private or work based pension again.

So it will probably be Tory for me as thats the only other option in my area.

CobaltQueen · 30/06/2024 12:37

Definitely not Labour as they don't have womens rights at their core amongst many other reasons.

And the other parties do?

CobaltQueen · 30/06/2024 12:52

At least the other parties can define what a woman actually is. All our hard earned rights as women will be thrown away under Labour. It's embarrassing watching Starmer not answer the question properly about who he defines as a biological woman. He can't answer yet this is who will be running the country in a few days. It's terrifying.
I also worry that working hard and saving hard will be pointless as the money will just go to someone that hasn't. Thousands of reasons more why I won't vote them. I'm surprised so many women are but I'm not getting into a mumsnet bust up over it.

The money you’ve earned through “hard work” will go to someone who hasn’t worked hard? Who do you mean?

That will be all of those lazy, workshy scroungers, living the high life courtesy of this government’s generous benefits system. You know, the ones with the latest iPhone and forrin holidays every year.

notquiteruralbliss · 30/06/2024 13:23

Labour because they have the best chance of beating our local Conservative candidate

They definitely know what a woman is….. it’s the group of people they’ll be totally fucking over by scrapping the Equality Act.

Starmer and Phillipson, amongst others, have made clear in TV interviews in the last week that the reason they’ve been wanging on about ‘women’s safe spaces’ instead of ‘single sex spaces’ is because they intend for males with a GRC to be allowed into those spaces. While also making it easier to obtain a GRC in the first place.

They have ignored the issues pointed out to them about this, around women’s safety, privacy and dignity. They have ignored the fact that many women do not want this. They are hellbent on imposing it regardless

After all, what does it matter if a few more women are raped each year? What does it matter if religious women can no longer go swimming? What does it matter if young teen girls have to change next to a naked intact male? Fuck them, they’re only women and their safety is as nothing against the hurt feelings of a few males.

Males with a GRC are already able to access those spaces, made possible under the tories.

Might not agree with some of the Labour policies but will be voting them as want Tories out.
