To wonder when the excess of dogs will die down

There's so much shit everywhere

There are so many feral horrible dogs pissing on front doors or prams or shop displays and barking terrifyingly at kids

I am sick of them!!!!! Is this it or will people learn their post COVID lesson and only get pets they can actually handle in the future?

Horrible post local to me on Facebook today, dogs have gotten into a field and ripped the jaw off a horse In there and the owners have never let on. There has definitely been a huge increase in the amount of sheep worrying, and other animals being attacked by dogs around here 🤬

Oh no, that is absolutely horrifying 🥺
Do you think it's the case that the owners kept quiet because they were frightened about retaliation from the owners of the dogs if they spoke up?

Sugartreemumma · 21/07/2024 14:07

There is a small nature reserve local to me, I used to regularly walk there but I no longer do because I'm nervous of the dogs, owners of the Pitbull type dogs prefer secluded places where they won't be seen and if the dog attacks there are no witnesses.

ebadame · 21/07/2024 14:11

Presumably when they start to die?

…😂😂😂 clearly you are not taking in to consideration that although dogs do die, they are also being born at an alarming rate and often one dog produces multiple litters per lifetime.

AlaskaThunderfuckHiiiiiiiii · 21/07/2024 14:28

@Sugartreemumma it’s appalling that the dog owners have walked off and left the horse in that condition until the horses owner discovered it, scum of the earth clearly that should not own a dog and unfortunately there is more and more of those type of owner and less responsible ones all the time

OonaStubbs · 21/07/2024 14:33

Is Keir Starmer going to do something or what? I haven't even seen it mentioned in the news.

I agree and they will have walked away because they knew that there was a risk their dog might be destroyed.
All they care about is their own dog, never mind the appalling suffering that it causes
🤬🤬🤬

FalderalderaldoSittingintheWater · 21/07/2024 14:51

How do you define an excess of dogs @OptimismvsRealism ? Pre and post covid figures?

OonaStubbs · 22/07/2024 19:29

I see another dog has killed today. Something needs to be done and soon.

The report says the animal was not a banned breed, so we can assume it's a breed that needs to be banned!
Awful, this wasnt a freak incident with a jack russel, it was a large out of control predator.

It does not mention the breed or size of the dog, so why are you saying it was a large and out of control predator? The right bite in the right place can cause a death... and that could be with any breed and size of dog.

Saying whatever breed this dog was means that all of them should be banned is OTT.

It also happened on private property. The laws with the XL bully types mean that have to be on a lead and muzzled when in public... they don't have to be in their own home.

OonaStubbs · 22/07/2024 21:52

It is getting to the point where dogs should be banned as pets. They are just causing too much trouble, misery and heartbreak. There is a death seemingly every week at the moment.

How many dogs in the UK vs how many deaths by dogs... go on.. do the math.

Dogs bring so much more joy than misery.

Maybe you should get a dog.

Four so far this year. Four too many, but a long way off one a week.

The issue is people who have powerful dogs that they don't train properly and can't control.

No one should be getting mauled to death by a domestic pet.

I agree with this.
I also understand why @OonaStubbs feels the way she does. There are too many dogs, many of them are a nuisance and not properly controlled by the owners.
There are good owners and I believe that good owners are in the majority but the bad owners are much more evident because of the bad behavior & nuisance with which they are associated.

Where in the my post do I say that the article mentioned the size or breed of the dog?

Slight over exaggeration there. How many people are killed every year by other animals that aren’t dogs, including other humans….

Maybe we should wipe out every other living being and live a sterile existence away from anything that may disagree with us…

Or maybe just stop being entitled humans and learn how to interact and behave around other living creatures (including other humans!).

I don’t know but I certainly hope all the ridiculous poodle crosses stop.

All dog 'breeds' started somewhere. A mix of genetics is actually more healthy than generations of Kennel club designed type breeding to gain a particular look. Those poor dogs with genetic problems due to Kennel Club or breed specifics wanting sloping backs(Alsasion), smashed up faces (bulldog types) and other health problems for the poor Kennel Club breed type dogs 🫢

On others points, I don't see ferel dogs or piles of poo, depends on where you live I guess.

Very little was released about the latest death from a dog attack. The lady was in her 30's. It doesn't say if it was or wasn't a banned breed, just that they don't believe it was.

I think we all know that some breeds have greater power to kill than others. Some are more risky due to size and strength. All dogs can bite. Some are much more likely to cause death than others. The deaths by dog breed show that.

Yes I agree. It's not just the people being killed, it's all the injuries. Must cost the NHS so much dealing with them.

No we can't get rid of all risk but you can do things to reduce the key ones. That's why we have safeguarding rules for children, rules for the road, and why we need stricter rules on pet ownership (and dog ownership in particular).

American Bulldog Breed.

Nutter excuse nonsense stating the darling dog was probably trying to help her when she had a seizure. Dearie me. Biting her ear off, so so helpful. Damn dogs. She'd be alive if she'd made better choices.
