To wonder when the excess of dogs will die down

There's so much shit everywhere

There are so many feral horrible dogs pissing on front doors or prams or shop displays and barking terrifyingly at kids

I am sick of them!!!!! Is this it or will people learn their post COVID lesson and only get pets they can actually handle in the future?

No, NO! Why have we fallen for this pick up shit mentality ? Why are dogs allowed to shit in public roads and parks full stop? Pick up a smoosh shit, of course some is left.
We are walking around in it…Why don’t humans all shit and piss everywhere and then pick it up? Because we are not allowed to and we have toilets. So why can’t a dog have a nappy or be trained to use a toilet or dog toilet? Or better still, less/no dogs. How low are our standards where you allow shit on public streets and then pick it up? What a bizarre and disgusting way to behave.

Edited

Haven’t we already established that you can’t compare dogs to humans?

It's badly behaved dog owners, who give the rest of us dog owners a bad name.

Well, yes, but there are rather a lot of them.

OonaStubbs · 05/07/2024 00:46

I saw some people take their dogs with them to vote today. Why? Just why.

There’s a whole kitsch aesthetic called “dogs at polling stations” which smoothbrains take great delight in.

Maybe they incorporated it into their daily walk. It’s not beyond the realm of possibility, is it?

LilBowWow · 05/07/2024 07:23

I took my dog to vote, then we stopped off at the pub. Sincerely hoping I pissed someone from here off.

Why not?

ShouldhavebeencalledAppollo · 05/07/2024 13:01

I know loads of people who took their dogs to vote. They didn’t take them right in.

As op said, it would be part of the daily walk. Our polling station is a 5 minute walk. I voted on my way home from work so didn’t have the dogs.

But have voted on my dog walk before. Me (now ex) H and the kids walked down. He waited outside while I voted and vice versa.

Getting ready for the day when their fur babies are given the vote. It's only a matter of time.

I did my vote whilst walking the dog, I asked if it was ok to take her in, and they said yes, so I did. She was perfectly well-behaved.

That’s lovely.

I had a walk with mine at a park I haven’t been to for years this morning. Loads of dogs there I was very surprised. All well behaved. All off lead in the area they were allowed to be and on lead where the signs say they should be.

People even put their dogs on lead when they saw one of mine was. He is young so on a long line. No dogs spraying poo about or pissing on people’s shoes. No dog mess left for anyone to step in. No smell of piss despite the very many dogs. Everyone saying good morning and stopping to admire the young dog.

loads of families with and without dogs. No kids being jumped up at.

was a lovely morning.

There's a dog play cafe opening up near me. The absolute insanity of it. Can you imagine? Barking, fighting, shitting everywhere.

I’m not really a dog person, but can honestly say I’ve never even thought about dog anuses let alone looked for them - wouldn’t they generally be covered by their tails anyway?

At least I’ve never seen a dog owner change a nappy on a table…

I mean I didn’t look at them and can’t recall seeing one anus on the walk. Dog or human. Thankfully.

I’ve seen a dog sitting on a cafe table once and a nappy being changed on a cafe table once. The nappy changer was also the dog owner (two separate occasions)! She’s my friend and I love her but she’s got no self awareness sometimes.

There’s one near me. We went yesterday afternoon. There’s never fighting or barking. All the dogs are very well behaved. Most people wouldn’t take a reactive dog there.

and I can say that not once have I seen a a dog actually shitting there or a dog shit left on the ground.

When we get a foster dog part of their socialisation training is to go there before I start work on a morning when it’s quiet. There’s a busy road that you can see and hear (with fencing) so they can get used to traffic noise. And seeing the odd well behaved dog means you can teach them to be neutral around dogs. Neutrality around people and dogs is how you get well behaved dogs.

Besides which, if you don’t like dogs, you won’t go so it doesn’t impact you at all. Even if the dogs behaviour is poor.

One of Keir Starmer's first priorities should be to do something about all the dogs.

What sort of something do you think he should do?
