Biden Trump debate- they must get rid of Biden now?

molotovcupcakes · 28/06/2024 07:10

Biden looked so frail and incoherant at times that this must be the end of his Presidency very soon.
How have the Democrats not faced this sooner and selected someone else, I don't understand why they have let this go on for so long.
He had to be helped off the stage by his wife and it seems like elder abuse.

Don't you have to be born in the USA to be president? He would probably have the money though.

You do, that's why Madeleine Albright never ran.

The VP is meant to be unobtrusive so if they become president they will have their own set of policies "unadulterated" by the previous president, that's why everyone was scandalised by dick Cheney (among other reasons, ahem). Harris is very unpopular though.

I'm not sure who or what could save the US.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 28/06/2024 15:57

Of course it’s pure speculation, no one has access to his medical records

That's not strictly true, @Janehasamane, as the following shows:

https://www.whitehouse.gov/wp-content/uploads/2024/02/Health-Summary-2.28.pdf

CheeseSandwichRiskAssessment · 28/06/2024 15:59

It's true presidential medical records are public. Eisenhower's heart attack in the 1950s is famous for being "one of the most scrutinised medical events in history."

Iirc trump tried to not release his during his first campaign but did eventually.

*Hayley

Ah no, I wasn’t talking about Nikki Haley. I meant to say the Dems didn’t choose HRC and later the Dems (not GOP) didn’t choose Harris. No idea why I put GOP!

Ah. Thanks. To your point, they didn’t choose Elizabeth Warren, either.

You would think so, but I wonder if they just do a yearly physical, and the rest is voluntary and situational.

I read somewhere that UTIs can present with symptoms of disorientation and confusion much like Biden presented last night. Maybe his doctors noticed and maybe he shrugged them off and hasn't given a urine sample or refused a blood test. Who knows? Can he be forced to have medical treatment?

Like others I am just surmising. And what do I know anyway!

You're right re UTI I think. My elderly nanny got properly disoriented but her sodium levels went really low and she got totally disoriented in a bad way.

HRC, Bill Clinton, nor Biden never indicated that they believed Putin over the CIA. Trump flat-out admitted in a press conference that he believed what Putin told him over what the CIA told him. This is beyond alarming.

I watched the debate and listened to what Trump said about Putin. He was very careful not to say a disparaging word about Vlad.

I know that by replying yet again I risk appearing to support Trump, I don’t particularly but I just don’t get with the blind contempt. Anyway throat cleared.

I’m no expert but I would not be surprised if the CIA played silly games with what they told Trump during his term, they have form; bay of pigs?

And if I was likely to be dealing with Putin in around 6 months time I’d be careful not to insult him during my campaign, surely it’s just common sense and basic diplomacy?

anyway that’s my non partisan take on what you wrote

He didn’t hold back on his feelings about Zalensky, though. Not diplomatic in regards to all leaders…

AInightingale · 28/06/2024 16:30

Biden was also incredibly disorientated at the D Day commemorations, kept trying to sit on an invisible seat, and had to be led away while Macron took over - that was weeks ago, unless he takes a lot of UTIs.

Yeh there seems to still be some disbelief over his capability

Putin doesn't care what people say about him, he already knows their opinion and it's not a concern. All he cares about is reconquering imperial Russian territories and bringing down the west.

UTIs can cause delirium in elderly people. They don’t cause long term or permanent symptoms of full blown dementia. People on MN are quick to suggest a UTI in an older person who is behaving strangely, but UTIs do not explain most of the cases described, where the person’s behaviour, manner of speech, personality etc have declined over time and then suddenly undergone a step change. It could definitely explain sudden delusions or hallucinations.

In Biden’s case it seems most likely that his verbal demeanour is caused by age related cognitive decline, and his stiff movements and posture are due to his severe arthritis (as per his medical report which has been linked in this thread).

I do wish there was an upper limit on the age for presidency and any high office in all countries. It’s a gruelling, stressful job that needs mental sharpness, and although many people over 80 can live well and independently and sometimes still go out to work, not many are capable of a full-on job that needs you to be in top condition mentally and physically. Trump isn’t and Biden isn’t. If someone is elected at an advanced age they should step down and allow the VP to take over for the rest of the term, if their health declines badly.

But the US seems extremely resistant to electing someone who is younger, female, black (Obama being the exception), or in any other way not an older white man.

I hope you are at least smart enough to be paid for such propaganda, but I doubt it.

😂😂😂 Are you sure you replied on the right thread?

What is propagandist about telling the truth??! 🤔😆

And who am I spreading this propaganda for??! 🤔 🤔 I need to know who to send my bill to!! 😂

Sorry but if Biden were to die now, they’d HAVE to find someone. So what’s the problem with replacing a poor old chap who is clearly out of his depth? Seems so cruel to let him carry on like this.

Because you either need to persuade him to stand down as candidate, or declare him to be lacking capacity - which not only means Kamala Harris assumes the presidency now but also that all of Biden’s recent decisions would be questioned.

Sloejelly · 28/06/2024 17:22

BloodyHellKenAgain · 28/06/2024 13:24

Apparently the president has to agree to voluntarily stand down, unless they're not of sound mind. Even though JB should stand down imo I do think he is compos mentis so can't be removed.

There is another alternative; it is call a Coup d’état.

Tracker1234 · 28/06/2024 17:22

Biden doesn’t have a UTI. We are just trying to make excuses now for an elderly man trying to do a job for another 4 years and he isn’t up to it. FGS - the campaign trail could kill him.

Trump is out there rallying whether you support him or not. I heard that it’s Jill Biden who wants to carry on and that unless 50% of his supporters turn their back on him they cannot force him out.

Of course he could resign himself but I think he thinks he is doing a good job. His illness is doing that to him.

I heard on LBC when driving that the Democrats have made a statement today saying that not only is Biden going forward with the campaign he is looking forward to the next debate. Someone is truly deluded and it’s cruel. Shame on whomever is doing this.

SmileyHappyPeopleInTheSun · 28/06/2024 17:29

I read somewhere that UTIs can present with symptoms of disorientation and confusion much like Biden presented last night.

DH uncle had one - he took train to location he had happy memories. Family had police looking and police in area were contacted - they took him to hospital test showed UTI withing days he was back to perfectly normal adult behavior and remind so for good few years till other conditions caught up with him.

I think Biden's had too many incidents of confusion and misspeaking for it to be UTIs - it's a pattern of behavior.

I do wonder if he'd be fine in less stressful situations - I know family members with dementia could cope with normal everyday non stressful environments quite well but out of ordinary stuff very quickly clear they weren't right. There was often denial from spouses and sometime other family members as they saw then in every day situations or some cases got used to covering for years for lapses so it get automatic.

Also to add on the Parkinson’s theory, one puts it very well, he says with dementia when the lights go out, they stay out, but with Parkinson’s they dim and then brighten. Which does appear to be what’s happening with Biden.

People with early stage dementia go through periods of forgetfulness and periods of lucidity too

I've got CNN tonight and nearly every commentator is saying just how catastrophic last night was. When CNN doesn't back you, you're in trouble!

But see, it didn't happen overnight.

Where was CNN until now? Why did they, and many more pretend everything was fine?

I don’t think that’s true, this has been on the media for a good couple of years,

Apparently he is still, refusing to go. So I think a blood bath is going to happen. What a shame this is to be his legacy,

No, that one didn’t work. More likely to a ‘softer’ one where others ‘speak on behalf of’ Biden who ceases to appear in public. Possibly declaring that he has stepped down, or suffered a medical incident and can no longer continue. It is far more common for coups to transfer power to others near the centre of power. But anyone other than Biden making the decision to step down, or being removed due to incapacity, is a coup. And many would claim doctors involved in declaring him to lack capacity were also carrying out a coup.
