Biden Trump debate- they must get rid of Biden now?

Biden looked so frail and incoherant at times that this must be the end of his Presidency very soon.
How have the Democrats not faced this sooner and selected someone else, I don't understand why they have let this go on for so long.
He had to be helped off the stage by his wife and it seems like elder abuse.

I saw this coming a year ago yet the media in America is so towards the left, they ignored the warning signs. They did a diservice to their country and the world frankly. Joe Biden is just a puppet, the people behind him are running the country.

Sorry but if Biden were to die now, they’d HAVE to find someone. So what’s the problem with replacing a poor old chap who is clearly out of his depth? Seems so cruel to let him carry on like this.

Apparently the president has to agree to voluntarily stand down, unless they're not of sound mind. Even though JB should stand down imo I do think he is compos mentis so can't be removed.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 28/06/2024 13:26

I don’t agree this is elder abuse. Nobody is abusing him

FWIW I'm not sure either, but I believe the argument is that if he's not got full capacity the party were unkind to nominate him at all, and that his loved ones should step up to persuade him this really isn't a good idea

That said they can't exactly stop him, and for all we know Jill might put the kudos of being First Lady higher than concern for her husband

Trump’s already told us that he wants to change the constitution to eliminate the two term limit. Now remind me…who was it that changed their country’s constitution to do the same? Ah yes, it was Putin.

Upside to that would be, Obama will only be 66 in 4 years time, if he wanted to run again!

I can see what you mean. JB clearly isn't able to run the US, so who is?
That would concern me if I were an American. Of course it plays straight into Trumps conspiracy loving supporters who love to wax lyrical about the US being run by a shadowy cabal as well.

They won’t elect a woman. The Dems wouldn’t choose HRC and the GOP wouldn’t choose Harris.
I don’t agree this is elder abuse. Nobody is abusing him. He has a job and he’s doing it, and has chosen not to step down. But he’s a disaster now. Trump is just as impaired as he is but in a different way, so he appears stronger. Trump is very likely to win and the consequences worldwide will be dreadful.

They won’t elect a woman.

It's probably worth mentioning that Hillary Clinton actually won the popular vote in 2016.

The idea that "they won't elect a woman" seems like nonsense to me.

They will elect a woman if she is popular and competent.Harris is neither. Obama is popular.

I am not sure her political competency has been well demonstrated, since she has never even stood as a senator as far as I am aware.

Doubt very much Trump could change that. Unless he gets supermajorities in the House and Senate.

There is a big difference between his performance and him being medically incompetent. I know as have family members with dementia. He is far, far away from someone registering power of attorney for him.

But he definitely shouldn't be President of the USA.

The decline with dementia can be alarmingly swift though. Remember meeting my uncle at a family dinner in his 80s, on the surface he seemed fine, he even drove himself home that night. Yet within a year he was seriously confused and disorientated within the home, within 18 months in a nursing home as his wife could not cope.

Exactlab · 28/06/2024 12:49

I agree. But I also don’t think Trump is fit for office either. I’m not even touching on his mental competency but he has faecal incontinence. Something which has been spoken about over the years but became well known during his recent trial.

I think the US is broken. I’ve no idea who is running the country as Biden can’t hide his dementia any more. It’s like Weekend at Bernie’s.

I wonder how different the US would be if Al Gore became President all those years ago. Or if instead of Trump and Clinton vying for the Presidency - it was Cruz and Sanders.

What?!

So effectively he's walking around shitting himself? Gosh. I had no idea about this.

Biden also clearly unable to lead.

Wtf is happening.

Indeed, and here it’s not about his condition in November 2024, it’s how he is in November 2028 - he’s “finger on the button” until then.

I feel like we’re doomed to terrible candidates in the UK and US because you’d need to be quite mad to want to do that these days.

Trump is a c**t, but why would that particular condition preclude him from president if managed appropriately?

dollybird · 28/06/2024 13:48

Puzzledandpissedoff · 28/06/2024 13:09

Thanks! Interesting that some initially wanted the presidency to be for life. Imagine potentially never being able to vote for a new president in your lifetime.

I don't understand why Kamala Harris couldn't run. Why are these dreadful old gimmers in line to run the most powerful country on earth? Trump is also too old and a convicted felon. It's all so fucked up.

Harris is massively unpopular. They would be mad to put her forward.

Chickenuggetsticks · 28/06/2024 13:49

It’s extremely worrying given America’s power in the world. It’s actually making me slightly worried. Either of them winning. Dems need a new candidate fast.

britneyisfree · 28/06/2024 13:50

@DanielGault he's not unfit because of the shit. Just all the other stuff he's done. Didn't think it needed mentioning, my bad

Your post rather implies that such a condition makes him unfit for the job.

britneyisfree · 28/06/2024 13:55

@DanielGault I've clarified now haven't I?

However, having just browsed Reddit for links and info, I'd suggest the manner in which he manages his condition and the odour people are claiming has followed him since at least his Apprentice days... maybe he shouldn't?

His staff and other heads of states, journalists etc shouldn't be forced to endure that because he chooses not to manage his condition cleanly and effectively.

If it's true that is!

Because Trump would’ve likely backed his despot hero, Putin. There would be no war in Ukraine right now because there would be no Ukraine. Trump publicly said he believes Putin over his own CIA.

I don’t think it would have gone like that, there would have been more dialogue and maybe Trump would have influenced NATO and the EU to give Russia the security guarantees that they requested, I don’t believe that Russia initially wanted to take over the breakaway territories, let alone the whole of Ukraine. But I guess we’ll never know.

The other thing of course is that when people say Trump is Putin’s puppet they forget that the Clintons were extremely close to Putin, Bill said he’s someone who you can work with, and Hillary sold him god knows how much yellowcake. The Bidens were up to their necks in Ukraine as well of course

Puzzledandpissedoff · 28/06/2024 13:59

Well there are plenty in exactly that position, @Dollybird, but most are in failed states and/or dictatorships and whatever it's faults America isn''t there yet!!

On a lighter note it's a shame the guy who used to do those skits "The Room Next Door" seems to have stopped (I think?) Granted there's not much to laugh about here, but I imagine he'd have had fun with last night

You're digging a hole for yourself here. He's not fit to be president because he has a medical condition?

HRC, Bill Clinton, nor Biden never indicated that they believed Putin over the CIA. Trump flat-out admitted in a press conference that he believed what Putin told him over what the CIA told him. This is beyond alarming.

I watched the debate and listened to what Trump said about Putin. He was very careful not to say a disparaging word about Vlad.

britneyisfree · 28/06/2024 14:04

@DanielGault could care less about any holes.

No. Unfit because he chooses not to manage it appropriately and is happy to allow people to sit in the stink rather than change his clothes.

The articles indicate he looses control of his bowels frequently throughout the day and won't change until he's told to because it doesn't bother him. That's what I'd expect in a nursing home. He's also above retirement age for most people. So perhaps yes I am.

Anyway, I'm bored now. Find someone else to play with.

Right so. You're reading some very interesting articles. In any case, at least his shit comes out of the hole it's supposed to. Unlike that other prick.

@Zanatdy he's not only mumbling . Have you watched any of it ?
This
thlle national debt.
“We'd be able to wipe out” debt accumulated during Trump’s presidency, Biden said while speaking about his tax plans, before trailing off: “Making sure that we're able to make every single solitary person . . . eligible for what I've been able to do with the uh, with the COVID, excuse me, with um dealing with everything we have to do with uh. Look, if we finally beat Medicare.”
Doesn't sound too bad when you read it
But when you see or hear it , shocking

Just watched the full debate , this part was awful.
It was like Biden was falling asleep as he was talking , the way he lost his train of thought .

Wtf is happening.

That’s what is being reported. You can Google it. It’s mostly trash sites that are at the top of the Google searches - but I read something in May that was from a respectable media publication.

My understanding is he’s made a choice rather than have surgical intervention.

My concern is neither is fit to lead.

I also recall when Hillary & Trump were battling for the Presidency the Trump campaign really pushed the narrative that Hillary wasn’t physically or mentally fit to lead.

There was a lot of footage of her various ailments and Trump was marketing himself as someone in peak physical health. It was very convincing.

But something to be mindful of is the gruelling schedule leading up to the election. There’s media, meeting donors, travelling across the entire country meeting voters - a normal person would find it difficult.

Biden’s decline has been happening for some time but it has clearly accelerated to the point where he’s not even there any more. The fact this is even a thread on this page (and some people had no idea about other politicians) indicates to me that a lot of people are waking up.
