WHERE is the sun?!! It is ludicrous, I don't remember a June like this for years and I keep depressing myself with the fucking BBC weather app. They promised sunshine and warmth and now they are saying rain, rain, rain. How on earth is anyone supposed to cope? I am going to Barcelona in a few weeks, and I am counting the seconds. AARGH!

It’s miserable. There hasn’t been a single day I can think of when it’s just been hot and sunny all day. There have been days it’s been warm in the sun, but it’s still been cloudy off and on that day, or breezy.

The 23rd and 26th June were nice where we are....
(A whole 2 days!)

Beaverbridge · 08/07/2024 22:08

Scorchio in Glasgow today. People sitting out at the bars, was lovely.

xtinabale55 · 08/07/2024 22:09

There is just such a running theme it seems across most parts of the uk, constant rain, much colder, March/April temperatures, very constantly windy and cloudy! I've never seen a summer like this in all my yrs on this planet, it's very strange, it's really getting me down bc all day there is just no light, it's a constant gloom of darkness and cloud, it's not good for anyone to be under this, not since October last yr, it's strange bc it was so hot on the only 2 clear days last wk then it's back to being quite bloody cold! I am expecting a bad winter, either a lot more rain and/or that and being much colder and icier than it has been for prev 5-10 yrs x

the80sweregreat · 09/07/2024 07:28

We always had summers like this in the 70s, until the one in 76 when it was hot for months on end and people were surprised!

76 is the one that is talked about but 74 was hot. So was 77.

Gorgeous sunshine in NE Scotland yesterday. I actually got a bit of a tan sitting out in my garden.

Forecast highs of 15⁰ and torrential rain today, so business as usual!

75 was hot but eclipsed by 76. 77 was constant grey cold and rain where I was. It just shows how variable local weather can be.

It is glorious in the south east/London area

It wasn't just the day before, I was at Santapod and it was torrential for all of Friday, most of Saturday and the first half of Sunday where we packed up and foofed offback up nothing to the........still grim and grey but just drizzle!

Doubt it'll be freezing in the winter tbh, this is climate change for you 😕

Lordofmyflies · 09/07/2024 08:49

Its rubbish. I'm in Cornwall... the holiday makers are miserable, the beaches are empty but at least the indoor attractions seem to be doing well. I think we've had 3 hot days this year so far.

Pliyo · 09/07/2024 08:53

Selfishly at 35 weeks pregnant, long may it continue 😬. I'm boiling hot all the time as it is.

Coastalcreeksider · 09/07/2024 09:10

I actually put the heating on last night for an hour and wore my winter dressing gown,I felt really chilly. My friend's daughter is at one of the Greek islands and she sent me a picture of the temperature showing 37 deg. at 7.20pm (their time). 😱

Crystallizedring · 09/07/2024 09:23

It's so cold. I absolutely hate cold weather and apart from 3 nice days in June it's been cold and it's been raining every day since 1st July. There is nothing joyful about having to wrap my preschooler in wellies and waterproofs in the summer.
South west here and sounds like we're going to miss out when the rest of the country gets warmer next week (according to the weather app but it'll probably change to rain everywhere by next week).

SerafinasGoose · 09/07/2024 09:53

All I want is to watch a beautiful sunset.

Comedycook · 09/07/2024 10:20

Terrible yesterday and today here in London. Very chilly last night...dd was wearing her oodie! It's July FFS!

socks1107 · 09/07/2024 10:54

London is dreadful again today. We're away this weekend and have just booked an indoor activity rather than the long walk and seaside drinks we had planned

SoundTheSirens · 09/07/2024 11:04

SerafinasGoose · 09/07/2024 09:53

Sunset is the only time the sun has been coming out here for the last week or so. It's either been raining or grey and windy all day, and then the sun comes out for the last hour when it's too late to do anything useful with it!

Fizbosshoes · 09/07/2024 11:09

Usually I'm reminding everyone to close doors and windows if we go out in summer. I open the windows to try and air our bedrooms but it's literally for an hour and then close them. I can't remember the last time I had the bedroom window open overnight, it's either too chilly or too noisy because it's pelting with rain! Or both

AngryLikeHades · 09/07/2024 11:44

According to a news channel (I think GB news), it was snowing in the Highlands a few days ago! Wtaf??! 😨

GasPanic · 09/07/2024 11:49

It's pretty awful.

The temperatures aren't horribly low like the year without a summer.

But the weather is gloomy and miserable.

It isn't really great to have any extremes of weather. Farmers crop yields this year will probably be awful. My fruit crop is very low like last year.

I have noticed a real lack of pollinators around. Building work and gardening is hard in the wet. Plus saturated ground and high reservoirs are likely to cause flooding in the coming winter. Kids of course cannot play out as much, and businesses that rely on good weather get considerably reduced footfall.

longdistanceclaraclara · 09/07/2024 12:08

Pissing down again in London. Really looking forward to the mud fest at the stables this afternoon.

headstone · 09/07/2024 12:17

Awful in the south west today as well. Dank and gloomy. Using the tumble dryer.

Fizbosshoes · 09/07/2024 14:42

But the weather is gloomy and miserable.

The temperature where I am (not far outside London) has been 9.5°-14 ° this week....that's pretty low for summer day time temperatures...?

....as well as gloomy and miserable!!

I bought a puffa coat back in September 2021. Still unworn The winters have been too mild to wear it. I would have been too hot with it on.

Its very uncomfortable where i am because of the humidity. My flat is unbearable whether its hot or humid.
