WHERE is the sun?!! It is ludicrous, I don't remember a June like this for years and I keep depressing myself with the fucking BBC weather app. They promised sunshine and warmth and now they are saying rain, rain, rain. How on earth is anyone supposed to cope? I am going to Barcelona in a few weeks, and I am counting the seconds. AARGH!

I'm in Glasgow and it is MISERABLE here. Not cold, just grey.

Well there's your reason.

Mrsgreen100 · 25/06/2024 19:21

Glorious in north norfolk

Really? I am 30 minutes away from you and cant cope with the heat!

And more than 24 hours apart…weather changes.
Though a search suggests it got up to about 22 today. Can’t cope? Really?

noosmummy12 · 25/06/2024 20:17

Currently sweating my tits off inside. 28.4 degrees in my bedroom with the fan on

Zanatdy · 25/06/2024 20:18

well you do live in Scotland! That said most of June has been miserable here in the South East but this week is a scorcher

JenniferBooth · 25/06/2024 20:21

On Sunday i said to DH Whats the betting our HA suddenly decide to change the fuse box now there is a heatwave. Lo and behold they turned up today with no notice. Expecting me to have my fridge freezer and chest freezer turned off for HOURS in this sauna of a flat. No no NO! the electrical check was done back in JANUARY five months ago. An isolater was fitted at the beginning of last month also by a contractor who turned up with no notice and electric was turned off for that but this is a longer job.
They have had five months. FIVE MONTHS we have had a cool spring. This flat gets far too hot in the summer to be turning the bloody fridge and chest freezer off. Titchy kitchen in small one bedroom sauna flat

I'm in Lake Garda and it's been raining for three days!
We're coming home tomorrow and we'll be glad of the sun 🙄

I've just been line dancing and the air con in the hall doesn't work but thankfully the fans did.

South coast and its over 90 on the sunny side of my garden. 🌞

90 degrees? What do you mean?

Greenshed · 25/06/2024 21:09

Glorious in Yorkshire, too. A bit cloudy now and then, but lots of sun, too, and very, very warm - nothing to complain about yet 😁.

Littlebirdy7 · 25/06/2024 21:26

Hi @MsLuxLisbon

I’m in Stirling - full solidarity and I echo your thoughts and feelings. It’s fecking shite especially with a toddler. Hope you enjoy the Spanish rays please bring some back with you!

Tell us you're a young 'un without telling us...etc 😁

Fahrenheit.

Disturbia81 · 26/06/2024 09:48

It's so weird today in west yorkshire, forecast says bright sun, clear skies and warm all day but the sky is solid white and it's cool. It's usually so bang on for me

the80sweregreat · 26/06/2024 09:51

Going to be 27 ( Essex )
Already feeling the heat

It's here! It's gorgeous here where I am in the SE. High of 26 today with blue skies and sun. Been like it all week and is meant to continue.

I see you're in Scotland. What sort of weather would you normally expect there? It wouldn't be that warm generally, I thought?

It is somewhat frustrating to see the repeated comments on his thread about Scotland and the weather here always being rubbish. I understand people aren't being rude as such and might genuinely not realise but Scotland doesn't actually always have rain and cloud and cold etc. We actually have really lovely weather almost as much as most other places in the UK. No it doesn't usually get as blisteringly hot as very far down south but we DO have sunshine and blue skies and heatwaves just like other places. We can often go weeks and weeks with no rain or shitty cloudy weather. It's just that this year in particular it seems to have been especially crap. Always raining, cloudy, cold, generally grey and miserable every single day which ISN'T typical for this time of year.

It might not be typical - but neither is it unusual. It's Scotland. If people come here expecting beautiful weather, they've come to the wrong place. It might be beautiful and sunny, but equally there might be haar or rain. And part of Scotland gets an average summer high temperature of under 15°C.

Personally I love the variety in the weather here. And I love that we don't get regular temperatures in the high 20s or low 30s. I wouldn't want to live somewhere with sunshine and blue skies every day again. The fact that we get cold, windy, wet weather is what makes us appreciate the beautiful sunny days. Well, until we start complaining that we are too hot, of course 😁

I think it's unusual for it to be THIS shit for such a long time though 😂

CrappyJob · 26/06/2024 14:38

Maybe I'm lucky where I live, but I don't think it has been that bad tbh! Last year was worse - it took forever to warm up!

chaosmaker · 26/06/2024 20:37

I apologise, I know nothing about Scotland. It's just there was a thread the other day with people saying how happy they were they lived up north as doesn't get hot. And hot for them was like 20!! And people are always saying it is cold and rainy when it's lovely here - because I live in a particularly warm and dry area. It's not just this year, although it sounds particularly dreadful. I'm glad you have some nice sunny weather, although those on the other thread would not be happy! 😁 And I hope the rain and cold stops for you soon!

It's not so much the temperature tbh but the constant grey, gloomy days and drizzly rain that are making it so rubbish. It's normally sunnier. I guess it is still warm ish sometimes but personally I still have a cardigan on most days whereas usually in summer I would just have short sleeves for example. We also do experience heatwaves usually around the same time as the rest of the UK but evidently not this time. I've struggled on many an occasion to get my kids bedrooms under 25/26 degrees in the middle of the night during the most warm times.
