To think Reform aren’t going to win the bloody election

All I have seen all over social media is that Reform are going to win the election 🤪🙄 (probably Russian BOTS just like BREXIT)

The poll I have attached below is from Opinium who got the 2019 general election result almost exactly right with their polling methods and is one of the more recent polls. The research methods they use hold up better to scrutiny! Ipsos Mori were also pretty spot on so these are the polls I tend to pay more attention to.

Aibu to think that we aren’t in for a Brexit style shock are we?

I live in hope that the U.K. really isn’t full of reform voting racists 🤞🏻🙈

Not sure what you’re following on social media but I haven’t seen indication they will win

Mrsdyna · 24/06/2024 12:23

Well even if they don't win this time, they will next time because Labour are not going to fix anything...

They won’t.

TinklySnail · 24/06/2024 12:43

Edenspirits73 · 24/06/2024 12:01

Christ, 27% of people on the voting on here think the thread is unreasonable - hoping thats not because they are all voting in the bloody racists 🙈

You are another one who brands all Reform supporters racist 🙄
They have non white candidates so I fail to see where the racism is.

"There's no debate anymore, no nuanced arguments, and I do think the left are the worst for this."

The irony.

Well tell me why then? Explain. "The irony" is hardly an argument as to why you believe my comment to be incorrect.

Have you read their manifesto? And frankly, you don’t just need to be white to be racist. Look at Suella Braverman and Priti Patel

They probably won't even get a single seat. I hope they all fuck off to the far side of fuck.

Farage is a massive traitor and only out for himself. Anyone who supports him is completely stupid. Turkeys voting for Christmas.

Your point makes sweeping generalisations about one group and makes no nuanced argument whilst bemoaning the standard of debate.

It's ironic.

This is the political debate equivalent of "some of my best friends are black".

gamerchick · 24/06/2024 11:40

No, but it is slightly irritating that they're the only ones out there I've seen talking to people. Haven't had a sniff of the other parties anywhere

Conversely Reform aren't even standing in my area so I've heard nothing from them, whereas the LibDem candidate knocked on my door and we've had leaflets from the Tories and the Greens.

BabyBobs · 24/06/2024 12:54

Not this time but after Labour get in and destroy the economy, they may stand a chance next time. Let's hope so.

FictionalCharacter · 24/06/2024 12:57

haveatye · 24/06/2024 11:36

Of course they're not going to win. However, if a single reform candidate wins a seat, that's one too many.

I feel the same about them as if they were the BNP. If Farage gets elected, that will be even more wall-to-wall TV appearances when parties like Lib Dems and Greens get far more popular vote share but a fraction of the TV time.

There's also the worry that the Tories could get so thoroughly smashed that they merge with Reform, thereby giving them more power.

We need to worry about the election after this one more than the current one.

Oh god yes. Farage has been all over the BBC and the newspapers for years despite not being an MP and having no political party. If Reform get a single seat, it will be even worse.

When did Labour destroy the economy last time?

Although we can in recent memory identify a point that the Tories did. :)

CraftyNavySeal · 24/06/2024 13:00

They won’t win and I vehemently oppose everything they stand for but I actually hope they do well.

Maybe if they get 20% of the vote but 0-1 seats there will finally be enough rage to reform our stupid electoral system.

If you're using the word 'gammon' you're not in a position to call anyone else racist.

pasta · 24/06/2024 13:02

They'll get two seats at the most this election, but the genie is out of the bottle, we won't escape the wave of far right sentiment engulfing the rest of Europe.

It won't be Farage who is able to capitalise on this. It will be someone we don't yet know about who is able to appeal to younger people, if not at the next election than at the one after that.

Which of their policies do you support and how do you think they will enact them?

I see support for them but I have yet to hear anyone say how they will achieve what they are saying they will achieve.

SmileyHappyPeopleInTheSun · 24/06/2024 13:04

It will be big news if they get a seat or two surely.

The nature of the FPTP system makes it difficult for them to win any seats - let alone win a majority.

We were blipping past other countries news reports on our election - and they seemed to be going off national polls and wild predications based on them though even some of our press seems to forget at times it 650 individual local races being run.

My area we have reform and a splinter party of them Heritage - who I'd never heard of and Tory and other big parties - with only one Independent who sounds reasonable wanting all good things and left wing till you reach her anti Zionist rant. So here we have full spectrum of right and left standing.

StaunchMomma · 24/06/2024 13:11

Agree that even one Reform MP in Parliament is too many.

They are the National Front with a rebrand.

You're HOPING for more misery for the country?!

Sounds about right for a hateful Reform voter!!

OhmygodDont · 24/06/2024 13:12

We even have a Christian people’s alliance. I idea what they stand for as I’d never heard of them till today.

so we have the norm lab, con, lib, green, reform, Christian, independent, and workers party.

RedYellowPinkGreenPurpleOrangeBlue · 24/06/2024 13:13

YANBU. Of course they're won't win!

Same round my way! Had leaflets through from the big two parties, but the reform candidate for my area has been really visible, doing lots of canvasing, lots of appearances. I will never vote for them, but if my area is anything to go by, I can see why floating voters are getting swept up by reform!

Which bit? The bit about migration? It is not racism to be concerned about immigration.
