Did anyone enjoy Taylor but felt at 3.5 hours it…. dragged a little?

I admit that i’m not her biggest fan and it was a bit of a fluke that i got a ticket to go with friends.

I enjoy her music and think she’s amazing but a dedicated Swiftie… I am not!

I just felt that it could have been at least thirty mins shorter and would have been more enjoyable. Even amongst the hardened Swifties around us, I sensed a little restlessness.

Anyone else agree?

I’d be interested to understand the mentality of spending time online saying negative things about an artist, who doesn’t seem to have done anything terrible, but you just don’t rate their music.

I can’t imagine making multiple posts about an artist that I’m just not into. If I’m not into someone, but others are snd the artist seems perfectly pleasant, I’m not interested in commenting.

CyanideShake · 24/06/2024 09:18

Doesn't she lip sync for various songs in the show? I assume that's why she can last over 3 hours on stage.

It's Taylor Swift, not the second coming of Christ!

Can you imagine the ticket costs for that? Wonder if there'd be a VIP package.

@KitKatChunki is not bullying you whatsoever. Simply also pointing out the bizarre fact that you are obsessively posting over someone that you claim to dislike

It's like watching a few people having some kind of group stroke isn't it?
Even the OP who decided to start her very first thread about this because it was so pressing...

'Eh?' is an expression. If you project more into it then so be it.
Also, TS is nothing like a West End show. 🤣🤣😬🤣

Her show is very similar actually. Think of Tina, Jersey Boys, Queen of the Night, We Will Rock You. Singing, dancing, costume changes, story telling....

Sorenips11 · 24/06/2024 09:19

I can't sit through 3 and a half hours of anything to be fair. My cousin's dd is a true Swiftie. He's been to 3 concerts with her, stood in line for hours for merch, been to a 4 hour film, and god knows how many hours trapped in a car listening to albums. He's a hard-core gangster rap fan so no idea how he manages it 😁

So many people who never liked her anyway posting because it somehow means so much!
😅

CyanideShake · 24/06/2024 09:20

All major artists of the day get major kickback, especially when they’re at an especially high-profile point in their career.

Some TS fans act like no other artists are ever criticized. It’s so bizarre.

Your billionaire gal will be just fine.

Ndd135632 · 24/06/2024 07:49

Agree. When I was 17 I was listening to Teenage Fanclub and The Wedding Present. TS is an amazing female performer and I don’t ever denigrate that. But her music is obvious. It’s so damn obvious. I don’t get the hype

Agreed. She’s no Joni Mitchell or Carole King. Remains to be seen whether her songs will still be being played on golden oldie radio shows 50 years down the line.

Well said.

I don't care for Billy Eilish. I think she has a lovely voice but her music style is not to my taste but I'm not going to start a thread slagging her off.

Super fans are a bit scary. It’s just Taylor’s world domination moment that’s all. I’d still rather be sitting in my pants eating crisps.

Right, so why did you tell the OP to STFU over a really mild opinion that the show was too long?
Just why?

It’s just really weird, isn’t it? I wonder what’s behind their need to post over and over to be unkind, just because she doesn’t meet their taste in music? Or is there more to it?

Are they unhappy in their own lives? Do they have an issue with successful women? Do they just not like seeing others do well? Are they intolerant of others tastes in general? Do they dislike that someone brings others joy?

Because it doesn’t really make sense to post/talk obsessively about someone who just make songs that you just happen to not like.

ExitChasedByCars · 24/06/2024 09:27

@KitKatChunki You seem upset that people have a different perspective of Taylor Swift. Last I checked, this was a discussion board and it certainly was not a fan club forum. If you want an echo chamber, I’m sure there must be fan forums and Mumsnet threads where Taylor Swift can do no wrong.

Nor did the OP? She said she found the longer than usual gig a bit long and it’s been blown out of proportion

Exactly!
It always makes me want to buy her merch instead which presumably is the opposite of what they are trying to achieve?!

It makes me think Nigel Farage had it right with the no promo is bad promo type thinking. Maybe it's a double bluff. Either way it's reminded me of her album again which will mean I put it on again in the car now! Cheers crazy posters!

Iaskedyouthrice · 24/06/2024 09:29

Good grief 😬

Wow. How misogynistic do you have to be to cast aspersions about other women just because they don’t have the same taste as you with an air of faux concern about people being unkind. But why am I not even surprised? Easter Confused

Horseebooks · 24/06/2024 09:31

I am never opening another TS thread again

CurtainsOfSparta · 24/06/2024 09:11

I don’t think she’s disposable. I often wonder which artists and songs we will still be hearing in 20,30,40 years. I reckon Taylor will be one. And I think Adele will be another. Maybe Harry Styles? Not sure about anyone else. Like, I don’t think Ed Sheeran will stand the test of time, not sure why as I know he’s popular and seems like a lovely person, but I just don’t think he will for some reason.

Having said that, people were mad about One Direction and I haven’t heard one of their songs played on the radio for a long time.

I didn’t say she was disposable!

Err, you might need reading glasses. The OP didn’t start a thread to “slag off” Taylor Swift. It was mere comment about the length of a concert that somehow Swifties feel like it’s a personal attack about Taylor Swift/her music.

TheTwirlyPoos · 24/06/2024 09:38

But it became very personal mal very quickly didn't it? 'u did well I can't do three minutes' 'oh I just don't get her, can someone please explain?'

It's utterly bizarre.

Dentistlakes · 24/06/2024 09:39

We didn’t get tickets unfortunately, but I did see the film of the concert she released. Of course it wasn’t the same as seeing it live, but yes, it was lo my and my attention did wander a little! I was just impressed how much energy she had. 3.5h is a very long time to be on stage and the absolute focus of everyone’s attention.

🙄 I used ‘they’ so I wasn’t casting aspersions about other women?

As I said, I’m interested in the mentality behind it. There are men and women who hate women doing well. There are people who hate anyone doing well, are intolerant and hate others being happy.

No misogyny here. 1/10 poor effort by you.
