Did anyone enjoy Taylor but felt at 3.5 hours it…. dragged a little?

Fromthenotorious · 24/06/2024 07:12

I admit that i’m not her biggest fan and it was a bit of a fluke that i got a ticket to go with friends.

I enjoy her music and think she’s amazing but a dedicated Swiftie… I am not!

I just felt that it could have been at least thirty mins shorter and would have been more enjoyable. Even amongst the hardened Swifties around us, I sensed a little restlessness.

Anyone else agree?

@CurtainsOfSparta they’re not split up, they wiped their online presence and are now their own agents as far as I understood it. I actually forgot all about that and I do love Paramore! 😟

CurtainsOfSparta · 24/06/2024 08:41

I thought Paramour had split up?! Didn’t realise they were the support act

I think people thought they might but they didn't.
TS fans will freak but my son and I would have watched Paramore, then left, had we somehow come into tickets.....🤣🤣🤣

Est1990 · 24/06/2024 08:44

Amazing and it didn't feel like 3 hours at all. It's very well done. Pure entertainment!

I do find disgusting that Taylor and her team sell those VIP packages with £20 crap inside and many of them with restricted views. They are not VIP at all and these people paid >£500.

But the obsession is so out of control that i will get replies like...oh well, at least they were there🙄(and a lot of the replies are from adults, not teenagers with hormones all over the place)

Ah okay, I thought that was their way of ending things!

Good for them if they can now manage their own endeavours, I imagine being under a music management company is soul destroying sometimes

I don’t think she’s rubbish, lots of people have said she’s a good gig and that’s great. It’s just not my thing. But I have said that in public and received unbelievable backlash. So I’m not criticising her at all, but her crazy fans?! I’ll criticise them all day long. Their behaviour is ridiculous and often downright abusive. Same as 1D and Bieber fans back in the day, giving out death threats or trying to shut anyone else down for their opinion - in this case that they felt the gig was a little too long - is never okay.

So someone was telling you how much they loved Taylor. You said you’re not really into her. Then you got lots of backlash??? Who were they? Family, friends, work colleagues? I call bullshit if it happened that way, or you hang out with some odd people. I don’t know anyone that would do that.

Or did you deliberately start a conversation to tell someone who liked her, that you didn’t like her. Because that’s a weird thing to do.

biscuiteer · 24/06/2024 08:50

yabu- a kid who wasn’t so lucky would have bitten your hand off for the chance to be there. Stfu with the Meh.

People go on about TS so much that non fans don't have to start a conversation. 🫣

I know, so sad to think of all the kids who would love to see her live being pipped to the post by people who just want to moan about her afterwards for clicks online. I really don't know what the point is.
What a world.

Testina · 24/06/2024 08:53

Literally your opening words.
Surely your opinion on this would only really be interesting if you were a huge fan but still found it too long?

I was in restricted view last night, so not great seats, and no-one was flagging. The energy levels were really high all the way through! I’m sure some people would prefer shorter, but that’s true of anything. I don’t like F1. It would just be pointless to start a thread saying, “AIBU to think they go round in circles foo many times, and 50 would be better than 70?”

I've looked at the artist on the stage of every concert I've been to, and ones viewed on tv etc. Never once have I wondered when they'll change their outfit.
As for saying 'eh?' in real life, it's a fairly common expression so.....

Edited

A patronising expression, yes

As for the costume changes, maybe she changes so her & her dancers are wearing a similar theme for a particular section of the show? Maybe the costume is in line with the particular 'era'? It's an awful lot more than just listening to her songs, you could compare it to a West End musical where the costumes are all part of the show

Nobody deserves a ticket more than anyone else.

OP got a ticket.
OP went to concert.
OP enjoyed concert but had one criticism.
OP gets abuse from 'real' fans and told folk 'more deserving'.

Cult fans want to ban any opinions other than TS worship, no normal fans or non fans allowed an opinion.

anotherside · 24/06/2024 08:54

Not a fan of hers but it’s kind of reassuring that of all the over sexualised pop stars, nasty lyrics, garish music videos, and dehumanised overproduced beats, it’s basically an old school pop star who could easily fit into the 80s or 90s who is still the biggest hit with the kids/teens.

Where actually are the threads about other artists though?
MN is TS thread a-plenty.
😬😬😬

Because the people who hate her are so obsessed they can't stop creating threads about her?

'Eh?' is an expression. If you project more into it then so be it.
Also, TS is nothing like a West End show. 🤣🤣😬🤣

@Alwaysthesun24 I love to see women thriving and inspiring and holding it together. She is a resilient successful woman who is inspiring a whole generation of girls. That’s what she stands for. Can’t you see that ? I don’t even like her music but I see that.

Inspiring girls to do what exactly? Pine after teenage crushes? As that what she seems to be all she is about. Isn’t the rivalry with katy Perry because they are both competing for the same tranche of teenagers?

Someone at work was talking about her and asked what my favourite album was and I said I’m not a fan and they proceeded to say things that weren’t nasty, but weren’t acceptable. I have also seen an insane amount of online stuff which is beyond disgusting.

But no, I don’t wander around starting conversations about Taylor Swift just to upset people. I don’t dislike her. Her music isn’t for me, that’s the depth of it. I do take I bridge with her fans. Same as 1D and Bieber fans back in the day. And Selena fans attacking Hayley Bieber and such - none of it is acceptable. Ever. It’s not okay to be unpleasant to another human purely because you have different musical tastes.

And quite frankly, it’s a good thing as if there were even more things then people would have even less chance of getting tickets.

Quartz2208 · 24/06/2024 08:55

I am not a big Taylor fan, don’t mind her but not a massive concert goer but was the designated adult for 3 teenagers 2 who loved her one who was just along for the ride and it went much quicker than I thought , it was very well done and managed to stand fir a lot of it. Really liked Wembley as well and the free water etcand had a good time. Thought they managed the leaving well as well and got the last train home

Goodness - you get tickets to the gig of the year then slag it off?
Stop gloating on here and think of what you've just witnessed. So many people were desperate to see her and have your experience and you sound thoroughly ungrateful.

It's Taylor Swift, not the second coming of Christ!

OnAndOnAndonAgain · 24/06/2024 09:00

It's all the bloody hype , people have been going on about trying to get tickets for the last year . It all seems like a bit of a drawn out process to me , buy an album, get access to tickets, register somewhere and you might be lucky enough to get a code at some point in the next year
