How often do you shave your armpits?

Just out of curiosity since I don't know if everyone does it as often as I do.

OP posts:

Every day. Legs, pits and Punic hair. Not exhausting. I can't stand body hair on me.

Theraffarian · 21/06/2024 21:06

Daily when I wash , just part of my getting ready routine .

Genuine ( not arsey) question to the non shavers ( or retired shavers): how do your DH’s react?

Before I started swimming once a week I could go a couple of months between shaving. My partner has never mentioned it, would be a bit hypocritical if he did seeing as he is very hairy!

But what if you want to wear a strap top/dress/bikini/swimsuit?!!

Then hair that grew naturally on a human will show. Oh the horror!! 😯

Every time I shower - only takes a few seconds. Personal choice, but I really dislike armpit hair on women. I haven't noticed any difference in speed of growth as I approach menopause. I didn't realise it would stop - I can look forward to that!

It doesn't. It just migrates to your chin instead Grin

RagzRebooted · 21/06/2024 21:08

Every few months maybe. Bit more in the summer. I don't have much hair there and also I don't really care.

Createausername1970 · 21/06/2024 21:08

When I was in my 20s/ early 30s it was Monday, Wednesday and Friday in my morning shower as I wore strappy tops and dresses.

Late 30s through to mid 50s, I tended to wear sleeves, so shaved maybe once a week in hot weather, but maybe once a month in the winter.

Now I am in my 60s, the hair under my armpits has relocated to my chin. So I now shave my chin a couple of days week and my armpits every couple of months.

RM2013 · 21/06/2024 21:08

Every few days

BabyBobs · 21/06/2024 21:08

I use a cream. Sometimes Nair, but currently using WooWoo Tame It!

First time we slept together he said “fuck me, maybe buy a razor??” and I said “nah, can’t be arsed” and he sort of shrugged and said, ok, fair enough. That was nearly 10 years ago and now been married for 3!

From these comments im now understanding past posts how mumsnetters showers only take 2 minutes max

It wastes a lot of water in the shower. When I choose to shave about once a fortnight I just use the sink.

FussyPud · 21/06/2024 21:09

I don’t. I trim it a couple of times a year because when it gets too long it catches and I don’t like the feel.

He doesn’t react, not sure he’s noticed but if he has it hasn’t been something worth commenting upon.

I do it when I can be bothered (so rarely). DH doesn't care, or notice I don't think.

I only really do my legs if it's warm and I want to put shorts on. When I do them he jokes that I must be gearing up to leave him for someone else and that's the end of it.

Given how hairy he is, I think it'd be hypocritical to care about my pits!

StrawberryWater · 21/06/2024 21:09

Every 3 or 4 days. Mine doesn't need more.

I shave my legs once a week if I can be bothered.

PoppyCherryDog · 21/06/2024 21:09

Whenever I realise I want to wear a vest top

AegonT · 21/06/2024 21:10

Daily. Takes seconds. Nothing against other people's airpot hair though!

AliceMcK · 21/06/2024 21:10

Rarely, every 6 months or so, but although I can feel hair it’s not very visible. I had IPL laser treatment when I was in my 20s, I never finished the course, if I had I don’t think I’d have any to shave. My bikini line is similar but still only needs an annual touch up.

I regret not doing my legs at the time, but gone are the daily or every other day shaves, it’s summer time only and then maybe once a week.

wibblywobblywoo · 21/06/2024 21:11

It used to be more often but now only once a fortnight or so - I went through a phase of getting my underarms waxed and that really seems to have slowed the regrowth right down. I would recommend waxing for underarms, it is so quick and leaves you hair free (and shadow/stubble free) for weeks.

Guineaguineaguinea · 21/06/2024 21:12

Once every few months. But for some reason I only have about 10 hairs and they don't grow longer than a few mm. so barely noticeable. Strange as I'm fairly hairy everywhere else!

CheeseWisely · 21/06/2024 21:13

Once every 3 or 4 weeks maybe. When it starts to bother me. Couldn't care less about the look of it.

Pregnancy cured me of caring about shaving my legs, I couldn't comfortably do it so I didn't, but wore shorts and skirts regardless as it was summer. Nothing happened. Nobody noticed or cared. I was not cast out from society, nor heckled in the street.

BeachRide · 21/06/2024 21:14

Another vote for never. Probably should pluck my unruly chin hair though ...

Threeboysadogacatandakitten · 21/06/2024 21:15

Never.

I'm not married, but I've never gone short of company and in my experience they love it. Also pubes 👍

Obviously the men who prefer hairless Barbie types aren't talking to me in the first place though, so my frame of reference is skewed Smile

aroomwithaperfectview · 21/06/2024 21:16

Never, but have them waxed through the summer.
