How often do you shave your armpits?

Just out of curiosity since I don't know if everyone does it as often as I do.

OP posts:

Every time I shower - only takes a few seconds. Personal choice, but I really dislike armpit hair on women. I haven't noticed any difference in speed of growth as I approach menopause. I didn't realise it would stop - I can look forward to that!

Genuine ( not arsey) question to the non shavers ( or retired shavers): how do your DH’s react?

He's never mentioned.

He doesn't shave his armpits either.

CostelloJones · 21/06/2024 20:55

Every other day but if people are going to see them every day eg on holiday I have to do them every day - even then they can still look a bit dark/stubbly.

but I have PCOS and my excess hair seems to mainly be my armpits - I have 2-3 hairs growing out of one follicle 😭😭

maybe I’ll be able to afford to get them lasered when I don’t have to pay nursery fees any more!

sixthvestibule · 21/06/2024 20:56

Maybe every other month.

Presumably you could choose to only date women who remove their armpit hair?

He doesn’t react? I mean, what’s to say, really? We generally speaking don’t comment on bodies in our house, I guess.

Runnerinthenight · 21/06/2024 20:57

I can't deal with hairy pits!! I shave when needed but now I'm older, the hair grows less. And the beautician I go to teases me about the "six hairs" on my legs (there's a little more but not much and only on the front of my leg) but I still get them waxed. I wear a lot of sleeveless tops/dresses in summer and I'd always shave before going out.

Chillilounger · 21/06/2024 20:58

Every time I take a shower. Part of the routine.

Married to my husband 25 years so it hasn't been an issue...

How exhausting!

Why? It takes two seconds. Why is this push for autonomy only in one direction! If people want body hair. Cool. If people don’t want body hair. Also cool.

Fiery30 · 21/06/2024 20:59

Every other week. I shave or use the Fabulous hair trimmer to remove it off. Luckily it's not very thick.

Differentstarts · 21/06/2024 21:00

MyBigFatGreekSalad · 21/06/2024 20:29

Probably 5 times a week. My hair grows insanely fast😂

Same 🤣 🤣

He doesn't react at all. It doesn't bother him anymore than it bothers me.

I sometimes shave mine in the bath. So maybe 3-4 times a year.

Doesn't care. He doesn't shave either.

needsomewarmsunshine · 21/06/2024 21:01

I have never had much under arm or leg hair so probably shave 3 times a year tops and then it is very fine and sparse.

Idontjetwashthefucker · 21/06/2024 21:02

Every other day, I'm sweating a lot more now I'm peri and the hair seems to trap the smell. Feel cleaner and fresher without but it's personal choice, wouldn't bat an eyelid at armpit hair on someone else

Differentstarts · 21/06/2024 21:02

From these comments im now understanding past posts how mumsnetters showers only take 2 minutes max

RestrictedSection · 21/06/2024 21:03

Every day. I don’t know what it is, but I really hate armpit hair on both men and women (despite preferring men otherwise hairy). I also hate the stubbly feeling if it’s been more than a day since I shaved.

Calliopespa · 21/06/2024 20:51

I don't have a DH, nor do I want one.

Miyagi99 · 21/06/2024 21:03

If I remember, which is rarely.

MissCalamity · 21/06/2024 21:03

When I know I'm wearing a sleeveless top, otherwise just when I remember to do them 🤣

Brystar · 21/06/2024 21:04

Never my armpit hair never grew so I am totally bald there.

queenmeadhbh · 21/06/2024 21:05

Once or twice a year, probably for like a wedding and a holiday or something like that. Used to be more before having a child as we’d go out dancing maybe once a month or so and I’d shave them if I was wearing a sleeveless dress. During the day even in summer I just have them hairy, people can be disgusted if they want but I can’t care that much!

Miyagi99 · 21/06/2024 21:05

lovinglaughingliving · 21/06/2024 20:35

But what if you want to wear a strap top/dress/bikini/swimsuit?!!

Does make any difference!

RightOnTheEdge · 21/06/2024 21:06

A few times a week.
The armpit hair pluckers are making me cringe at the thought! You are much braver than me
