We need the security services to shut the group down when they are carrying out what can be described as terrorist methods to influence govt policy.

They a bunch of absolute cunts and I hope those responsible are locked up. No group has managed to turn me off their cause more effectively.

What, not even the taliban?

Whilst the world burns, you're worried about a bit of paint on some old rocks, and I love stone henge

It's precisely because i care that I am upset. Because we need more people to care not to turn people off

GreigeO · 19/06/2024 20:18

Have they done anything that causes long-term damage to it? I thought they always chose methods that didn’t cause permanent damage?

Its powder paint and it doesn't turn everyone off

I can’t get my knickers in a twist about something that’s caused no damage

BMW6 · 19/06/2024 20:20

As irritating and counterproductive as they are, they are not terrorists.

As they are environmentalists they should be sentenced to labour clearing rivers, digging flood defences etc etc but banged up in prison when not working.

They've damaged a lot of stuff.

The views of Lord Carlile of Berriew Q.C, say different that the methods used equal terrorism methods.

I think what they are doing is appalling. But they aren't terrorists. I grew up in NI during the 70's and 80's. We know a thing or two about terrorists here. These idiots are vandals.

ToxicChristmas · 19/06/2024 20:27

The last time JSO turned up to sit in the road near to my friends home, three of them turned up seperately in fairly new 4x4s (not electric). They were parked outside her house and she has photos. The hypocrisy after a bunch of them went round deflating tyres on other people's 4x4s.

Harvestfestivalknickers · 19/06/2024 20:27

They are just idiots. I can't fathom how attacking Stonehenge highlights their cause. Is oil extracted from Stonehenge? Is Oil refined at Stonehenge? Is Stonehenge a big consumer of oil?

AhBiscuits · 19/06/2024 20:27

They were saying on the news it won't just rinse off as it's embedded into ancient lichen and they're consulting specialists on how to get it off.

Allfur · 19/06/2024 20:29

So you're worried about a bit of ancient lichen, and the rest of the world is going to shit

Harming the environment to save the environment. It's an unusual approach.

And the actions of these half wits helps with that how exactly?

HermioneWeasley · 19/06/2024 20:32

The police are a joke in this country. Desecrate an ancient monument, glue yourself to a motorway and bring traffic to a standstill, March through London with racist signs and they do absolutely nothing. Misgender someone on Twitter and they send a squad to your door.

I read that the curators are investigating the extent of the damage. So they've no idea if there's been any damage. Apparently it was made out of cornflour.

The government are having a laugh calling it an act of vandalism. Don't they want to build a road under it?

brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr · 19/06/2024 20:33

“Terrorism” ?? please.

If that’s terrorism then what was this ?

Deepwater Horizon

Oil extraction is responsible for ecosystem collapse, mass extinction of species, and dangerous changes to our climate.

And people are upset about the cornstarch based paint on a bit of stone.

Common sense would tell me @FoxJTT047101111 that Lord Carlile was probably referring to property being destroyed by a bomb or incendiary device or something similar, thereby causing risk to life and limb. Not having some paint sprayed on it (as much as I disagree with this.)

KatyaKabanova · 19/06/2024 20:36

"a bit of stone"
I think some people don't understand what Stonehenge is....

Over 70 different species of lichen some of them rare
