To not offer two types of beef burger at summer fair (halal and non halal)?

I’ve took responsibility for sorting the burgers for BBQ at summer school PTA fair.
I was thinking, I can buy all burgers as halal only. A good portion of the school population are either non-religious or Muslim.

However, DH is saying we should also offer a non-halal burger option (he is religious - Sikh and avoids halal due to his beliefs). However I think he is a minority and could have veggie? There are Hindus but they wouldn’t eat beef anyway so it’s a tiny amount of people other than DH who I think would care if we go full halal for the burgers.

IMO one type of beef burger that is suitable for most would be easiest. AIBU?

A veggie option could accommodate most folk tbh - OP should maybe just do that!

Just do falafels. Everyone eats veg not everyone eats meat. And cakes. I love a good fete cake stall.

I’m inclined to agree, because nothing else makes sense. If I’ve identified that the majority of my consumers are likely to by X, I’d be an idiot to turn up with Y .

But not everyone eats veggie foods - I would never eat a vegetarian option at something like a barbecue!

Very interesting that so many people on here are saying, "why should I eat halal."

Have any of you ever worked at dominos or KFC or any other place? Have you not seen that so much of our meat is imported from Muslim countries and is actually halal. They just don't always advertise it as it being halal.

This is so true, I've never seen this not eating halal on principle attitude in real life, these posters are going to shit a brick when they find out what happens to the bits of kosher slaughtered cows that aren't kosher, like the sirloin for example, it doesn't get thrown away!

Agreed. It’s bizarre that if the meat-eating attendees are mostly white or Christian, then non-halal burgers should be served. But when the meat-eating attendees are mostly Muslim, suddenly they think it’s only fair that everyone gets falafels and Muslims shouldn’t get meat.

The inherent double standard is mind boggling.

Just goes to show what some people really think.

I make sure to avoid halal.
We live in an area with few takeaways and don't eat out often.
We don't eat huge amounts of meat either.
I don't need or want my food blessed, and do not want the option of non-halal to be eroded.
I'm happy for others to eat what they choose for religious and/or moral reasons.
I'm not anti-muslim or any other faith just because I don't want to follow certain rules around eating.

I'd offer to work on the cake stand instead of the burger one- sorted! 😆

A lot of folk aren't aware that people with conditions such as IBS can't eat things like falafels. While you can't cater to everyone, providing vegetarian only food is not as inclusive as people often think.
