For being upset at what DP said to his friend?

summerOnes · 16/06/2024 16:26

DP is asleep on the sofa and his phone was next to me charged up. He kept getting messages from his best friend, like one every second saying “reply quick” so I went onto the messages to see if it was anything serious so I could tell DP.

Long story short I’ve just read a conversation that went like this.

His friend “how was Amsterdam, did you go to the red light district” (we went amsterdam last week week)
DP “yeah there were so many fit birds there”
His friend “There is isn’t there🤣”
DP “yeah I’m so glad I went with (my name) otherwise I’d be skint🤣”

Ive come upstairs because I am fuming. He’s still asleep downstairs and I know when I mention it to him he will say he was joking. But would anyone else take it as a joke? Am I over thinking and just put it down to lads having “banter”

Christ it was a joke. I honestly don't know how some of you get through life. You get offended so easily. I'd be scared to be in your life because I'd be worried if I made a joke you'd get offended.
It was a joke you weren't even meant to see. It's your own fault you're upset.

Calm down snowflake

Knew I’d get replies about me going on his phone🤣 no I don’t at all I’ve explained why I did

It's not funny. Your excuse for being nosey is rubbish and an invasion of privacy . No idea why you think that's funny.

@PinkyFlamingo jesus that’s me told🤭

It’s gross and regressive humour.
If DP is not like that himself it’s a bit lame to weakly humour his friend.
Tbh, if I’d come across that exchange I’d probably be scrolling further back in that conversation.
But then I’m probably a bit naïve about men.

Zip it. It’s tiring having the same blokes on here defending the indefensible.

Just ignore them. My dh and I always use each others phones! That’s what normal couples do with nothing to hide.

is no one going to point out that the OP went to the RED LIGHT DISTRICT with her partner. i assume she wasn't forced, she went to look at the sex workers along with her partner.

so its ok for her to go and look, but its not ok for him?

Thanks for highlighting that.
Seeing women in windows as some sort of Victorian curio show.
Nope wouldn't be on my list of things to see.

My DH would NEVER text something like that. He’s a twat in other ways but this is one area he is fantastic at.

@MushroomStamp @beckybarefoot I know it's off topic but can I just say how cool the pair of you are! Also love the bantz you two are having together on this thread! All these silly uppity women with their boring old values and boundaries!!

Aw thanks... I popped back to see how @MushroomStamp was getting on!

I've never been called cool before 😂😂..

I think I'm just normal.. I have no ajenda..I've seen a fair bit of life and met my fair share of ugly men.. this thread and the reaction of so many is hilarious!

It's horrible OP. I'd be very upset, too. The implication that he would have been unfaithful to you and paid other women for sex if you hadn't been there is disrespectful at best.

(Sorry you've got a couple of dickheads on your thread. Ignore them, they'll get bored soon enough.)

AInightingale · 16/06/2024 19:20

Even trying to imagine this through the eyes of a man, I find it hard to see a prostitute as a 'fit bird' tbh. A woman selling her body? Are they aware of how many of these women are trafficked, have drug problems or just lead miserable lives? Shows a lack of empathy and imagination and is objectifying. There's a vast difference between attractive women spotted in eg a nightclub, and women selling themselves in a red light district...

In the unlikely event that some of the terminally frothing posters on here don't literally dissolve themselves with all the bile and vitriol that appears to run through their veins, perhaps they'd like to go on some of the threads started by women on here about specifically named male people in the public eye that that they perve over and report those threads.

Ineedaholidayyyy · 16/06/2024 19:26

Fit birds , how old is he, he sounds like a child.

It is most likely "lads banter" but it's still pathetic, and cringey but I wouldn't read too much into it.

Knitgoodwoman · 16/06/2024 19:27

I don’t think that’s a joke. I’ve worked with mainly men for 20+ years and the ones who ‘joke’ like this are the ones that do it. A lot more men get prostitutes in Amsterdam than you’d think as well. Most men I went away on work trips with did.

Libertysparkle · 16/06/2024 19:27

I can understand why you looked at his phone. Although I guess if an emergency he would have been phoning rather than texting.

Unfortunately I do think it's a joke between friends. I don't understand it as I'd never joke to a friend like that.

NaughtyBoyGeorgeMichaelJacksonBrown · 16/06/2024 19:29

I agree with pp that this is normal chat and jokes for men.

Which is why I will never go near one romantically again.

I pity all women that put up with sharing air with men who 'banter' like this.

Ditto , mine can be a completer arsehole sometimes, but no, him and his mates don't text shit like this .

Football, their toddlers and the occasional sports mention, for my husband and his friends.

Nah there are massive issues and plenty of trafficking still. Also crooked cops.

I don’t deny that it’s probably much worse in other places though.

Always28 · 16/06/2024 19:34

I would be really upset and pissed off by those messages. I’m sure my DH would be equally pissed off and hurt if I wrote anything similar to my friends. Its horrible. I guess different people have different expectations but I wouldn’t be ok with that.

FuckTheClubUp · 16/06/2024 19:34

Some messages saying ‘reply quickly’ and instead of picking up the phone, taking it to your DP and saying ‘so and so wants you, sounds urgent,’ you go through the phone instead?🤣 just say you went through his messages because you waned too
