It’s June. The sky is constantly grey. It’s raining all the time. Don’t get me started on the wind. I had to put the heating on this morning. God it’s depressing! Is this climate change in action or am I remembering Junes of the past with rose-tinted shades?! I can’t afford a holiday this year and I’m aching for some vitamin D :(

@SudExpress Don't tell me that! I thought Southern Italy meant guaranteed sunshine in the Summer months. We're travelling down there in September with minimal luggage so hoping to pack mostly shorts and t-shirts. Although I'm currently seeking out a lightweight packable waterproof coat I was hoping to only need that when we get back to Northern Europe (if at all!)

Oh September is usually boiling. It's been spring the last few years that has been weird.

henlake7 · 13/06/2024 12:55

I actually changed outfits three times this morning because I couldnt work out how to dress for the weather!
🙄

DaffydownClock · 13/06/2024 13:12

Well, it’s midsummer’s day in 11 days so make the most of it because it’ll be downhill all the way from there!
I went to the garden centre this morning wearing jeans, my thick jumper, a quilted gilet and gloves. It was 11° at midday 😵‍💫
South Glos.

CranfordScones · 13/06/2024 13:44

For those saying it's not actually summer yet, the meteorological summer begins on the 1st of June.

That's true, but I find that summer proper often doesn't start until midsummer.

No, it won't. July and August are very often much warmer than June. Even early September is sometimes. This June has been crap for sure but I find all the moaning a bit annoying, it will get nicer eventually, it can't go on like this forever.

June is always shit.
My sister married in June, it's rained every day onher anniversary and she's been married 22 years.

It isn't. I moved into my flat in May 2018 and that summer was amazing, so hot and it didn't rain for weeks.

SackofSweets · 13/06/2024 16:13

YANBU I am sat with raynaurds typing for work, but refuse to put the heating on! It’s bloody June.

oberst · 13/06/2024 16:16

I am in Hampshire and put my heating on this morning. It is now pouring down with rain. Rubbish!

I’m in my 40s and have lived in Essex all my life. I’d say the last nine months have been about as dingy and depressing as any spell of weather I can remember. We barely had a nice day throughout the whole winter. I can’t remember a single day of frost and ice and crisp bright sunshine. You know, those glorious days when the sun glints off the icy puddles and you can hear the frost crunch under foot. The spring was the worst I can ever remember. In fact, I don’t think I saw the sun throughout the whole of March. And now here we are, a week from the longest day, and it’s just started spitting with rain…again.

Still, it has just hit 52 degrees in Delhi. I’d rather put up with anything than that.

AhBiscuits · 13/06/2024 18:40

Windy, cold and raining in Bristol today.
Some sandals and sunglasses I ordered arrived today 🙃

Rockschooldropout · 15/06/2024 09:14

11 degrees and throwing it down again .. it’s dark cold and depressing .. I’m 52 and this Spring has been rubbish and It’s been the worst June I can remember for many years . We are nearly at the longest day , we’ve usually had lots of evenings sat outside etc but it’s been too cold or it’s been sodding raining and soon the nights will start pulling in again 😩

AhBiscuits · 15/06/2024 09:47

Got woken up by the sound of rain on the roof. Put on a winter jumper and raincoat to walk DD to gymnastics. We're going to a summer fair and beer festival later ☔😰

alittlehopeisadangerousthing · 15/06/2024 09:59

Heavy rain here and dark. I can't stop sneezing and honestly feel so depressed. I've never known such a bad June. I don't care what anyone says about when summer starts or any other crap, it's been worse than I can remember.

Cherrysoup · 15/06/2024 10:25

Finally able to walk one dog (had a minor op on his paw, other one has a broken leg 😢) but the weather is cold, rainy. He’s gonna be filthy, but I don’t care. I got out of bed and missed my Saturday morning lie in because I was cold. It’s ridiculous. My FB memories from June during Covid and every June since show bright blue skies.

HurdyGurdy19 · 15/06/2024 10:26

It is soul destroying, isn't it.

However, I've had a few Facebook memories over the past couple of weeks, where I've been grumbling at how cold it is for June, so maybe it's not such an unusual phenomenon.

Oblomov24 · 15/06/2024 10:29

Pissing down here is Surrey. So fed up with this grey shit.

Nothinglefttosaynow · 15/06/2024 10:31

We usually have a nice spell in May so I booked annual leave for the long weekend.. Ha! There were weather warnings & storms. We have had a couple of warm days & my DD has a golden glow to her skin from playing outside but it's not been great so far. Hoping for some sunshine soon! Otherwise it's going to be a longggg summer break from school for the kids. We also had hailstones here 2 weeks ago.

Oh no. You've jinxed it now.

I'm Hampshire. My heating came on of it's own accord yesterday. It's turned down to 14 degrees and normally my south facing terrace is boiling from March to October.
Here it's been cold and wet with about 3 hours of hot sunshine every afternoon followed by a cold grey evening. Annoying. We didn't get a hot dry spring and summer ie August is traditionally not the hottest /sunniest month.

MooseBreath · 15/06/2024 12:03

I'm in Cambridgeshire with my heating set to turn on at 15. It's been on 4 days this week. Brutal.

AhBiscuits · 16/06/2024 09:26

I went to a beer festival last night. I had planned to wear a gorgeous, sleeveless maxi dress thats been hanging sadly in my wardrobe and take a light cropped jacket to throw on as the sun dips below the horizon.
I wore two jumpers and a raincoat.

We are forecast a reasonable spell now though so 🤞

lollipoprainbow · 16/06/2024 10:17

Reminds me of the Billy Elliott quote:

"The sun'll come out tomorrow"

"Fat chance!"

rewilded · 16/06/2024 12:19

No sun here...again. Confused

Noduckpicsplease · 16/06/2024 12:22

I'm very pregnant. Loving the weather . 🤣
