It’s June. The sky is constantly grey. It’s raining all the time. Don’t get me started on the wind. I had to put the heating on this morning. God it’s depressing! Is this climate change in action or am I remembering Junes of the past with rose-tinted shades?! I can’t afford a holiday this year and I’m aching for some vitamin D :(

I can’t deal with it if the weather is like this all summer holidays like last year. The garden is everything to me when the children are off school - if it’s raining and crap all summer I might actually go insane

For some reason, this year, people seem to think June is Summer.

It isn't summer yet. Summer isn't until the 20th June. The longest day. The Solstice the day when the northern hemisphere is actually tilted towards the sun.

You've got 9 days. Then summer will start.
July August summer ends Autumn Equinox in September.

Oh come on . Regardless of when summer officially begins it has been bloody awful weather for June. I have looked at pics from this time over previous years and my memory. Have never felt cold ,wearing a coat in June ever !

Vicliz24 · 11/06/2024 19:31

I had a Facebook reminder too . Apparently I had the fire on in June 2012 too . That was the year that the summer was just the Olympic weeks . Seriously hope this isn't a repeat of that !!.

RogerTaylorsdrumstool · 11/06/2024 19:31

It was 8 degrees here in West Yorkshire this morning.. Said real feel 4!!
I'm used to crap Summers up North but it is rubbish this year..

DontStopMe · 11/06/2024 19:32

I've just been watching some tennis from Nottingham, the poor spectators were all huddled together, wrapped up in big coats, hats and scarves.
I do hope it warms up a bit for Wimbledon - I've got tickets for the qualifying.

PTSDBarbiegirl · 11/06/2024 19:32

It's roasting in my back garden in central Scotland. Sitting outside in shorts.

FieldInWhichFucksAreGrownIsBarren · 11/06/2024 19:33

I am so so tired of it, heating has come on a couple of mornings over the last few days. Really doesn't help that I have a Mum that lives in Cyprus who feels the need to complain about how hot it is over there -boo fucking hoo 🤨

tillyandmilly · 11/06/2024 19:33

we have had sun every day down south - albeit a few clouds - balcony doors open - its been lovely and not stifling hot - around 18 degrees which is perfect for me - 🌞 love the UK weather - would hate to live in a country where its constant sticky heat!

NeedthatFridayfeeling · 11/06/2024 19:35

Yeah I've had the heating on a few times to stopped things like towels getting fusty and still wrapping in a dressing gown. Majorly pissed about the weather 😡

I think it varies massively where in the UK you are.

Today I walked the dog in a t-shirt.. I mean I was wearing a t-shirt, not the dog, it was glorious and sunny and warm. Then it spit a bit. But then went sunny and warm again.

I've still got the tan I got from the Fair I was at last weekend.

I'm in the midlands, seems we've been having it pretty good compared to other places.

CoraPirbright · 11/06/2024 19:38

Hot water bottle and vests still here. Depressing. Just hoping for not-horizontal-rain and something above 20 degrees for July/August. Not asking for the world 🙄😁

Roselilly36 · 11/06/2024 19:38

I am totally fed up too. Weather really affects my mood.

D3vonmaid · 11/06/2024 19:38

I’m personally of the view that many people have false memory syndrome about June weather, and expect “flaming June” to be here by now. However I was at Glastonbury 1998 and have never forgotten just how cold, wet and rainy England can be in “summer”. Also think of Wimbledon, and why they had to put a roof on, after rain stopped play so many times.
That said, it is bloody freezing at the moment, I’ve been sat under a blanket whilst working from home.

LumiB · 11/06/2024 19:42

The su n is where it always is just cant see it or feel it. 🙄😬

We had periods of sunshine so it's not all bad and yday at 6pm it was clear blue skies after the rain went.

You can still get vit d even on a cloudy day as the uv light still comes through

May I ask what temp you have please?

I think Tube commuters often measure by how many days we need to freeze our water bottle before the commute. Even last year I’m pretty sure it would have been three if I’d been commuting daily. The rest of the month was probably around 20c. Not the cold weather we have this year.

Gallowayan · 11/06/2024 19:45

Sunny and dry here on the west coast of Scotland. Cool breeze from NW. Highest temp today 13C. Generally weather has been similar to what everyone else is describing. The wind does not usually come from the north in June but that has been the pattern here. Climate change?

ILikeALemonWedgeInMyGin · 11/06/2024 19:47

I'm in the East Midlands and could see my breath this morning on the school run. Genuinely tempted to book 2/3 days in Spain.

twilighteaser · 11/06/2024 19:50

Pissing it down here in North Italy. We've had the wettest summer ever recorded so far. It even snowed last week in the Alps! It is hot when the sun's out but we've had rain all day or big storms daily now for weeks. Usually by now it's sweltering and we can't sleep or work, so for that side of things I prefer the rain. Never had to use my dryer in June. I feel very sorry for any tourists that are here right now.

Evenstar · 11/06/2024 19:57

I’ve got my heated throw on again and I have got my thick full length winter leggings back out 😭 we’re going to a festival on the 20th and camping 🥶 praying it warms up

wishuponastar1988 · 11/06/2024 19:58

It's miserable. A memory just popped up on my Facebook and on the 11th June 2023 I was sat in the park with my baby in the sun having a picnic. Tonight we've had the heating on!

BasilParsley · 11/06/2024 20:01

On the cusp of the south east/south west coast border here. It's been fucking miserable for months.

We have had a bit of a tease of the sun now and then but the wind continues to blow cold and negates the sun's warmth unless you find the supreme sheltered spot.

I have lit the wood burner every evening since last October because it's so fecking miserably wet and cold

This morning, the central heating turned itself because the temp was so low....

My dd was born that year. I remember bringing her home and the weather being foul!

tobee · 11/06/2024 20:10

It's only just been the D Day anniversary (June 6th). That was put back 24 hours because of poor weather conditions. The night itself was only just a bit better.

I remember many rainy cold starts to Wimbledon; in the days when the championships used to start in last week of June.

Anyway, it could easily pick up any day now. And could still be a great summer. I'm choosing to be optimistic but it's quite hard to imagine.

Furrydogmum · 11/06/2024 20:13

My puppy keeps staring at me in horror when I put her on the back step to encourage her to wee outside, should have got a Husky! West Yorkshire and it is pretty wet and chilly although interspersed with sunshine and gorgeous blue skies earlier today.
