It’s June. The sky is constantly grey. It’s raining all the time. Don’t get me started on the wind. I had to put the heating on this morning. God it’s depressing! Is this climate change in action or am I remembering Junes of the past with rose-tinted shades?! I can’t afford a holiday this year and I’m aching for some vitamin D :(

What a lovely story @Flickersy, did she find any?

No, luckily they got away with it! But she was convinced she'd be walking to the church in snow.

For 50 years we chose to do nothing about climate change. Now we just need to live with the results - exactly as expected.

Seriously. Take a day off.

KarenOH · 12/06/2024 08:46

Def not rose tinted. Last few summers the paddling pool was well established.

an grateful that I’m not battling to get sunscreen on DD before nursery every day!

NashvilleQueen · 12/06/2024 09:01

We have had previous Junes where the weather has been a bit rubbish as we have with every month. But I think the issue this time is that we had a shit March, April, May and June and it's hard when you're constantly under water or in jumpers.

positivewings · 12/06/2024 09:22

Bit chilly and gloomy had rain all day yesterday.
I don't mind the weather at the moment it's quite nice.

fieldsofbutterflies · 12/06/2024 09:26

Gorgeous blue skies and sunshine in Cumbria and has been like this for a week or so now! Makes a change from us getting the worst of it all the time 🙈

TattedBarley · 12/06/2024 16:03

Just seen a Met Office report saying we could be getting overnight frost with temperatures hitting freezing level 😳

According to the Met Office there were 600 incidences of ground frost in June last year ...

Most of Europe has been crap, other than Southern Italy, Spain and Greece. The jet stream hasn't moved this year. No-one really understands the jet stream, even before climate change.

South Sardinia is nice, I am currently still by the pool..... Sorry everyone.

Maybe in June, but last July was awful. I genuinely think that the next few weeks will bring summer for real.

It will be nicer later. Cool spring means hot summer in most cases.

July was rainy but it wasn’t cold! I remember it pissed down all of DDs birthdays but we still didn’t need coats.

although not sure what’s worse - hot rain or cold rain!

I actually don’t mind hot rain, I’d happily sit out in the garden with it 🤣 cold rain just makes my bones ache!

I had the heating on last night.
first time I’ve done that in the middle of June.

Same here. I feel I’ve failed because I was adamant I wouldn’t.

I remember the first time I went to Sydney and discovered you could in fact sweat while walking in the rain. Felt unnatural!

SudExpress · 13/06/2024 09:52

I'm in the south of Italy and literally up until this Monday, the weather and temperature was more April than June. Nobody was going to the beach and I was taking a coat and brolly to work.
Then on Monday it went whoooosh and hit 34 degrees and has only dropped slightly since.

shadylane · 13/06/2024 09:55

Climate change. In the UK we can expect cold, wet days interspersed with ridiculously hot days. Seasons are long gone. Flying and owning an SUV clearly too important. Oil companies have fucked us.

marmaladeandpeanutbutter · 13/06/2024 10:28

My heating is on today for the first time in a while.

Mischance · 13/06/2024 10:30

It's the wind that is the problem here - it is pulling the temperature down and making any venture outdoors a real pain.

I have covid - I just want to sit in the garden on a sunlounger and quietly recuperate whilst getting some fresh air - no hope of that here.

PadstowGirl · 13/06/2024 10:57

June is always shit.
My sister married in June, it's rained every day onher anniversary and she's been married 22 years.

@SudExpress Don't tell me that! I thought Southern Italy meant guaranteed sunshine in the Summer months. We're travelling down there in September with minimal luggage so hoping to pack mostly shorts and t-shirts. Although I'm currently seeking out a lightweight packable waterproof coat I was hoping to only need that when we get back to Northern Europe (if at all!)

UndertheCedartree · 13/06/2024 11:18

We've had quite a bit of nice weather over the last few weeks here.

This morning was lovely and sunny, only 18c but felt warmer in the sun. It's clouded over a bit now.

But yes June is Summer.
