I have just been listening to his speech at Clacton today about DDay and patriotism and it's all hot air and bluster and nonsense and honestly WHO COULD POSSIBLY VOTE FOR THIS IGNORANT CLOWN?!?

OK but seriously anyone who is tempted, please tell me. I genuinely cannot understand it.

Typo in thread title edited by MNHQ to make it clear the thread is about Farage, not a garage

I think we’re all missing the important point here.
The McDonald’s milkshake machine is working in Clacton! Let’s all get down there quick!

OneFrenchEgg · 04/06/2024 19:52

You can only vote for him if you live in Clacton though?

Katemax82 · 04/06/2024 19:52

custardlover · 04/06/2024 19:47

Do you understand why?

Yes, because my husband is getting more right wing as he's getting older

Blackcats7 · 04/06/2024 19:53

Total knob. The only upside to Reform is as a twat identifying service.

Farage
ExtraOnions · 04/06/2024 19:54

Racist Bulllshit “whole streets in Oldham where they don’t speak English”

if he’s that bothered about Oldham, why is he not standing there ?

I live in the NW, my town had a large population from Asia… and I don’t give a toot if they want to speak a language other than English to each other.

Are they only “British Values” (whatever they are), if you say them in English ?

I’ll tell you exactly who votes for him … People who want to blame other people for their bad life choices.

TimeFlysWhenYoureHavingRum · 04/06/2024 19:57

If the people of Clacton elect him they will be without an MP for the next 5 years as he will obviously try to continue his TV career and American side hustles.
I can't even see him turning up to Parliamentexcept for photo opportunities and symbolic votes.
Can you imagine him doing a surgery and listening to his constituents noise complaints, benefit disputes and planning objections???
He does not give a shit about them!!!

I don’t care for Nigel Farage but the woman who threw a milk shake at him should be held accountable. It’s not acceptable to behave like that.

I wouldn’t be surprised if she hadn’t been paid by Reform to get publicity. It felt like a 90s style publicity stunt like Gayle Porter on Houses of Parliament.

FrippEnos · 04/06/2024 19:57

MrsSkylerWhite

Assault? Bollocks. The nasty piece of work can wipe a bit of milkshake off.

It is classed as assault.

Movinghouseatlast · 04/06/2024 20:00

Utter cunt.

Because Brexit has gone so well, hasn't it Nigel?

armwrest · 04/06/2024 20:00

yes immediately thought publicity stunt

FrippEnos · 04/06/2024 20:00

Posters should by now know how he is managing to get in

1/ he is a master manipulator.
2/ He claims to listen to the people and promises to do something about their fears.

You can't do anything about 1 but if politicians actually gave a damn they could stop him from getting so many people on side by listening to these areas and doing something like increasing investment and getting jobs in those areas.

GwenogJones · 04/06/2024 20:12

I've just seen on twitter (so I don't know how true) that the milkshake thrower might have been Emily Hewertson - who is the girlfriend of the reform party press officer.

The papers are saying she said her name was Victoria .

Whenwillitgetwarm · 04/06/2024 20:18

I have friends who live there and he’s got a chance. They complain about immigration but if you go there, there are no immigrants.

They complain about the state of the country, but can’t connect the dots between Brexit, voting for right wing parties and no money being put into local social services.

Its deprived and very right wing. It’s like the ‘Upside Down’ in Stranger Things but the Thatcher’s Essex version where you have the ‘TOWIE’ Brentwood at the top, nice houses, nice cars, holidays in Dubai at the top, and the Clacton at the bottom with benefits, flag waving, disdain for education, no need for experts, self declared patriot but working cash in hand at the bottom.

AmpleFatball · 04/06/2024 20:19

Reform are polling about as well as UKIP did at their peak. The most favourable forecasts see them getting maybe 1 seat. He’s a 7 times loser at General Elections.

Yes, he played a role in getting a referendum on Brexit but - as has often been the case - he seems to get news coverage well in excess of his actual significance.

And I do rather feel that they should be called Reform Corp. rather than the Reform Party. There’s something so gross to me about a political party being set up as a private corporation that is controlled by one man.

Churchview · 04/06/2024 20:22

I agree @AmpleFatball . He owns the majority share in Reform UK. It's not a political party it's a business.

soupfiend · 04/06/2024 20:22

It amazes me that people are quite happy for someone to be assaulted if they dont like them

I dont like him, in fact I would say it verges on hate for the damage he has done to the this country and my local area

But it doesnt justify assault. In the same way I felt about John Prescott having eggs thrown at him, or was that a milkshake as well, cant remember

I dont expect to be assaulted in my day to day job, and I have been, because my profession is a bit of a hate figure profession and therefore its not acceptable no matter who it is.

Not true, it's an 'only fans model' from Clacton

ExtraOnions · 04/06/2024 20:27

He had a milkshake thrown at him … not because of his vile politics, because he courts publicity, and opportunists want to hang onto the coattails of that.

ExtraOnions · 04/06/2024 20:27

It doesn't matter. No one asks to be assaulted

AmpleFatball · 04/06/2024 20:30

I hate Farage but the milkshake throwing is idiotic behaviour and I don’t condone it at all.

It’s also good publicity for him so seem pretty counterproductive.

EffortlesslyInelegant · 04/06/2024 20:31

It is obviously true that nobody ASKS to be assaulted but in the case of Farage it ought really to be made compulsory. I'd happily be arrested/charged/banged up just for the sheer joy of throwing milkshake at the fucker.

ExtraOnions · 04/06/2024 20:31

Hiyhooo · 04/06/2024 20:29

I never said he did

He wants to be careful about the language he uses about other people though, they could well insight hate crimes

ageratum1 · 04/06/2024 20:32

Ther stated aim is to destroy the Conservative party at this election and then make a serious attempt in 2029
