You know those little things in life that people like to morally police and make you feel guilty about but you just can't muster up the shit to give?

This is a confession thread. I'll start.

I don't give a shit that you supposedly shouldn't feed bread to ducks. I don't care. Don't eat it then. People have been feeding them bread for decades and now we're supposed to bring them organic bloody walnuts or something? Or some other crap they don't want that doesn't float?
They can have my slightly mouldy bread and be grateful.

Over to you.

Killing ducks doesn't faze you then?

Get over yourself

Yeah that's not something to be proud of. And before you start, I won't get over myself. Bet you feed horses as well.

Perfect28 · 31/05/2024 22:57

Surely OP if you can't be bothered to feed an animal something suitable don't feed the ducks at all?

Uhohsummoned · 31/05/2024 22:57

Me too op. When it all became more of a thing not to give them bread our local duck pond population was becoming less. The council put a sign saying bread was fine to keep them alive.

SomeBollocks · 31/05/2024 22:58

Beside the point I know, but feeding bread to ducks is actually fine - in the winter they really need the calories. Ideally wholemeal. Not mouldy though! (I know you don't care OP, just putting it out there...)

Personally I don't care about the state of my nails (hands or feet)

MonsteraMama · 31/05/2024 22:58

Yeah this is not going to go the way you want it to OP. Most people don't have any interest in bragging about the ways in which they are selfish and ignorant.

Beautifulbythebay · 31/05/2024 22:59

For the ignorant among us..

Things you're supposed to give a shit about, but you don't.

I don’t care about men in women’s toilets

EarringsandLipstick · 31/05/2024 23:00

No eat OP, that's awful.

To knowingly give an animal a food item they shouldn't have isn't the light-hearted admission you seem to think.

I know lots of people still aren't aware, and that's different.

Sorry, what?

Lilacbluebells · 31/05/2024 23:01

This thread 😂 🦆 I don’t care either. I have them chopped grapes once and they ignored it and just swam towards a family with bread. It’s fine. I also give the manky bits of DDs toast to a crow on our lawn who seems most happy with this arrangement.

ReggaetonLente · 31/05/2024 23:01

Pandas.

They aren’t that bothered about continuing their own species so why should we care. They refuse to have sex with each other and have to eat about four times their own body weight per day. It’s unsustainable! Let them go extinct!

sf99 · 31/05/2024 23:02

You realise not feeding them at all is an option, right.
You give them food you've been told is harmful for them because it makes you feel good to feed them??

Bumbleebeetree · 31/05/2024 23:02

You're probably better off not feeding the ducks at all if you feel like that 🤨

XDownwiththissortofthingX · 31/05/2024 23:03

The environment.

I'm not going to be here by the time it becomes a debilitating issue, so meh, couldn't give a single shiny shite.

Wanting to wear clothes made out of natural fibres. I have no idea what fabric my clothes are made from, I just get what looks nice

PleaseBePacific · 31/05/2024 23:03

I don't give them mouldy bread but I feed ducks and birds bread all the time. Also had a sign from local council saying it's fine to feed them bread!

To be honest I don't care about much of the shit people care about. But it mostly only affects me, so ...

Me too, I've tried grapes and peas, they don't want it. They want the bread 🍞 🦆

I'm not making them eat it and thry are grown ducks, they can make their own choices

I won't add my feelings towards it... but total backfire of what was meant to be a light hearted thread to a nation of we love ducks.

i also love ducks and my children and I buy a massive bucket of duck food of Amazon and it last us a year

Whycantiwinmillionsandsquillions · 31/05/2024 23:04

Ok here goes.
Other people’s children and pets.
I’m really not interested in your (none cute) dog. Neither your (very none cute) baby.

Cabinet1278 · 31/05/2024 23:04

At our local duck pond I once saw a whole colander worth of spaghetti just tipped for them. It still was in the circular shape (you know when you’ve left it a bit and it congeals)…

Lilacbluebells · 31/05/2024 23:04

Feeding them bread is fine. Ducks 🦆 are not going extinct any time soon.

I really don't think it is, even in winter. It's not part of their diet.

In fact, feeding too much of any item to ducks is a problem. The ideal is small amounts only.

Apart from it doing nutritional harm, it can encourage rats, who prey on the young.
