DP called me a middle class racist

Whoswhoof · 31/05/2024 20:02

Just now. Discussing the upcoming election. Both always voted labour. I said I’m voting Tory in the upcoming GE for a multitude of reasons, some of which come under the bracket of gender identity, kids sex ed, general tightening of illegal immigration, not taxing private schools. I explained you kind of just have to vote for the party that most aligns with your beliefs as you’re never going to agree with all of them (I don’t agree with a lot of Tory policies, but the ones that are important to me are relevant)

DP then jokes “So you’re a middle class racist now!” Then says only joking. DP will be voting labour.

Aibu to think this is quite out of order?

Maybe educate dh that 1 in 4 women are raped or sexually assaulted. We need to move heaven and earth to protect women and girls more not less.

Has anyone worked out where Starmer’s magic money tree is yet? How is he going to pay for some of the stuff that he is talking about? Already backtracking on not raising taxes! At the end of the day the public are going to pay because there is no spare money.

Brexit and Covid broke this country, most of Europe is in the same financial position as a result of this so it was not just the Tory government that caused it, they were just the management team. The country chose Brexit, most people didn’t stop to think about the consequences and financial implications of leaving, where is their sense of responsibility for this?

Covid was crippling to the economy, how quickly people forget this, yes some money was wasted in the hasty decisions that were made but remember how the government supported businesses to pay their staff, how they supported employed people to stay at home, keep their job and get paid for doing nothing. Not every country did this.

i think a lot of Labour supporters are naive to think that Starmer is going to fix everything that they are hoping for, he hasn’t even mentioned most of their wish list and has been less than clear about how he is going to pay for any of it.

pay attention folks, listen carefully to what all parties are saying and don’t just rely on what you have done in the past because politics and policies have changed a lot.

It’s still a vanishingly low risk

And when you take into account other factors the rewards far outweigh the risks.

Everyone can make up their own minds on how important this so called ‘vanishingly low risk’ is.
A risk to 51% of the population is extremely important in my view.

I imagine raver is a man and doesn’t give a damn. Seems completely confused by the subject.

Having said I'd be pretty shocked, he hasn't handled it well if it is something that is a deal breaker for him then he should have had a sensible discussion and then made a decision if he wanted to leav the relationship

For some people being politically aligned is hugely important, for others not so much.

No, answer @MrsSkylerWhite and say what you love about Rwanda

Eh? Sorry @RaverQuavers, don’t understand your question.

If it helps, there’s nothing whatsoever that I love about Rwanda?

I wasn’t asking you a question.

Merely pointing out @Polishedshoesalways was yet to answer your question around how she found her time living in Rwanda

@Polishedshoesalways since you love Rwanda so much and care so deeply about protecting your daughters from rape or sexual violence I wonder if you’d happily send them off for a year.

Please bare in mind 12.8% of women in Rwanda fall victim to sexual violence compared to just 3.3% of women in the UK.

Your daughters would be far safer in a UK prison next to a trans woman than living in Rwanda.

But let’s not allow facts to get in the way of stupidity

However, he agrees with private education, so he can't be much of a Labour supporter?

Several Labour MP's include Diane Abbott sent their DC to independent schools. Maybe they can't be Labour supporters either if that's how you measure Labour support.

Says the woman who thinks Rwanda is some paradise

Fun fact women are far more likely to suffer sexual violence in Rwanda compared to the UK

MrsSkylerWhite · 01/06/2024 00:21

What on earth has women’s’ safety got to do with sending immigrants to the fabulous Rwanda?

Are you basically saying that immigrants are dangerous and not to be trusted?

Livelovebehappy · 01/06/2024 00:22

RaverQuavers · 31/05/2024 23:04

I think suffering with limited understanding is a prerequisite for those who vote Tory

I think it may be you, unfortunately, who is getting a tad confused here. I'm not a Tory supporter, which had you read my posts, you would have understood. But I'm guessing from your post that you're a Labour supporter, in which case I'm probably overestimating your capability of comprehension......

My dds are going to a different African nation this summer not dissimilar to Rwanda, so your timing is impeccable.

So you are a trans activist, that explains a lot.

RaverQuavers · 31/05/2024 23:35

Of course you have.

I work for the MoJ and have more than enough awareness of the issue you are claiming to be raising here.

Doesn’t change the facts that you are incredibly unlikely to be a victim of rape from a trans woman.

If you fear rape in prison maybe try to raise your daughters well enough they don’t end up in one.

Again, factually you and your daughters will be worse off under a Tory government. Those are basic facts unless you’re mega wealthy that is.

Doesn’t change the facts that you are incredibly unlikely to be a victim of rape from a trans woman.

The risk of rape from a transwomen is 6 times greater than the risk from a so-called 'cis' man. www.fairplayforwomen.com/criminality

Study suggests that transwomen exhibit a male pattern of criminality • Fair Play For Women

When looking at ANY CRIMES committed by all trans people there is a slightly higher risk of crime compared to the general population.

We’re in a very privileged position in that we’ll be fine whoever gets elected next month but we live in a very economically disadvantaged part of the country and whilst I wouldn’t call DH racist if he voted Tory, I would think less of him. I work with several local charities and our service users’ lives are so much harder than they should be due to 14 years of incompetence so I really struggle to understand how anyone could vote for more of the same.

I thought the left was friendly and cuddly and caring.
all the attacks
all the patronising remarks.

Corbyn himself went to private school.

I'm no fan of Corbyn, but how was he meant to have un-done that? How can it be hypocritical to be against something that your parents decided for you?

(And FWIW it didn't do him much good anyway, I think he got two E's or something at A-level.)

Plenty in the Labour Party have had the benefit and privilege of a private education, it’s just seems so hypocritical to me.
