What would your children be called if you gave them the name you came up with as a boy/girl?

I would have a Ryder (male) and a Zola or Nova.

Came up with them when I was probably 15/16.

Not horrifically horrendous but I would now be disappointed had I become a teen mum.

Leia and Luke.

I quite liked the idea of Indiana Joseph as a boys name.

I really think that says enough.

I loved Jimberly as a teenager, but unfortunately dh was convinced it was going to become too popular, so that got vetoed 😕

Was this a typo for Kimberly? I’ve never heard of Jimberly!

Imnotticketyboo · 30/05/2024 21:46

Phoebe and Nate. Both family names. I still love them tbh but for long winded reasons (largely that my wife didn't want her child's name to rhyme with hers, and then didn't want 3 of us with an 'ee' sound at the end of our names) we went with other family names. Reckon my son would have rocked being a Nate. DD wouldn't suit Phoebe though, so half worked out.

I still love Clover but couldn't get my husband on board 😅

@schoolsoutforever yeeeah I loved WKD! Clover and Elsie <3 the rhyme about Elsie was so cute!

PissOffJeffrey · 30/05/2024 21:52

Jack for a boy.

Anna or Gabriella for a girl.

Quite sensible considering I was about 14 at the time.

LauderSyme · 30/05/2024 22:06

I would have had girls named Isabelle and Aurora and boys named Thomas and James. DC has one of these as a middle name.

BonnyT · 30/05/2024 23:11

Sodapop, Dallas or Ponyboy, after reading SE Hinton's The Outsiders. Thank Christ I wasn't a teenage mum, for so many reasons, but mainly my name choices back then!!

CrispieCake · 30/05/2024 23:33

Leslie (Boy/girl), Oswald (boy) or Janet (girl).

Neither of my children have any of these names, though I understand Janet is on the up.

Lila878 · 30/05/2024 23:42

Rainbow Brite & Michael

I was mildly obsessed with the names Cannagan, Cade and Tino for a boy when I was a teen 😅 the only girl's name I've ever really obsessed over is the name I made up at 17, swore I'd give it to my first born daughter and did finally get to use it at 28.
Glad I stuck with the names I picked for each of them, or my 2nd boy would have been Stark or Binx 😂 daughter I had no clue what to call her if she'd been a boy but Rowan and Elliott were high on the list. I found a lot of the names I liked for my first, weren't a good fit by the time I had my 2nd, and same for the list from 2nd to 3rd.

I always liked Emily and Finn. My son's middle name is Finley. His 'dad' said no to Finn, I actually didn't want to name him what he is named, but I couldn't imagine him as anything else now

aandrelax · 31/05/2024 17:46

I was obsessed with the programme Sister Sister and wanted twins called Tia and Tamera

I also loved The Sound of Music and wanted 7 children, one called Louisa

I haven't used any of these names in real life but I still think Louisa is pretty

GaslitlikeaVictorianparlour · 31/05/2024 17:55

Jordan for both after Tom Cruise's classy, beautiful artist girlfriend in Cocktail.
I share my date of birth with Katie Price so had no idea what kind of a journey this name was about to go on.

JazbayGrapes · 31/05/2024 18:06

Andrew and William were my favourite boy names.
Eventually I married Andrew. We have William.

verabarbleen · 01/06/2024 19:36

@WilliamButt aww i have a 3 year old Elizabeth 🥰

ASongOfRiceAndPeas · 02/06/2024 21:53

Mine were Morgan for a girl and Chase for a boy 🙈
I also loved Jaime for a girl

MotherOfVizslas · 02/06/2024 22:03

Summer and Levi!

JoniBlue · 02/06/2024 23:05

Summer & Levi are good ones!

MayonnaiseOnMyChips · 02/06/2024 23:06

Penny and Ziggy

whatsoccuringnow · 02/06/2024 23:23

Belinda or Jessica for a girl

Justin or Sebastian for a boy

I didn't use those names or anything similar. They smack of the 80s to me now!!

Freeasabird76 · 02/06/2024 23:32

Samuel Benjamin for a boy
Cheyenne for a girl

Cherubs4 · 02/06/2024 23:45

I was convinved I'd have twin called Sophie and Sally. I used to write short stories about them.
For a boy I wanted Sam after my doll little Sam

justjuggling · 03/06/2024 00:27

Angela as that was the name of my cabbage patch doll! 😂

Crazycatlady79 · 03/06/2024 02:20

Boys names I loved as a child were Philip, Patrick, Louis and Theo. Girls names were Kate, Tempany and Polly.
I used none of these!

Okbyethen · 03/06/2024 02:31

I was 100% going to call my daughter Trinity (The Matrix) 😄

Glad I grew out of that one!
