What would your children be called if you gave them the name you came up with as a boy/girl?

I would have a Ryder (male) and a Zola or Nova.

Came up with them when I was probably 15/16.

Not horrifically horrendous but I would now be disappointed had I become a teen mum.

Ziantha and Renisenb both are characters in books. Both my children actually have standard popular names

Conniebygaslight · 28/05/2024 16:57

When I was little I like Danielle for a girl, Daniel for a boy. Leanne/Leon the matchy names. When I was a teen, I was obsessed with the surname Smith as a first name and thought I was super cool….🤣🤣

schoolsoutforever · 28/05/2024 16:59

Ooh nice thread!

My favourites were Clover (What Katy Did - I think...?), Lois (from Superman I assume) and Laurence for a boy (Little W I think). Still quite like them but put off Laurence because of the Fox man.

PrincessHoneysuckle · 28/05/2024 17:01

Andrew and Kimberley

Clawdy · 28/05/2024 17:01

Aviva and Fritha!

GentrifiedJen · 28/05/2024 17:03

I was obsessed with the Walton sextuplets when I was a child

I dreamed of having six little girls called Elizabeth, Rebecca, Susanna, Josephine, Caroline & Philippa. Occasionally I went one further than Mrs Walton and added a seventh called Katharine 😂

Grazyna80 · 28/05/2024 17:08

Scarlet , for a girl (O’Hara from gone with the wind ) boy Jonathan ( Harker , from Dracula. ) still love those names.

Marylou62 · 28/05/2024 17:09

I was having 4 girls called Kizzy (from Roots)
Scarlet (Gone with the Wind)
Megan (Thorn Birds)

I read all these books before I was a teenager.

And Lily (both my Grandmas)
I have one DD with one of the names!
I wasn't having any boys
I have 2...

Sudename · 28/05/2024 17:10

Lyn and Rick!

akissbeforebed · 28/05/2024 16:22

I would have a daughter called Saffron.

Me to! Loved it from ab fab 🤣

Rookangaroo4 · 28/05/2024 17:12

I loved 2 boys names since I was about 17 and both my sons have those 2 names with the other one as their middle name . I had my first son at 27 and 2nd at 35, an 8 year gap between them and I still didn’t come up with any names I liked better .

OzziePopPop · 28/05/2024 17:14

I only had girl names, it would’ve been Atlanta-Marie or Scarlett. I do still like Scarlett!

BouleDeSuif · 28/05/2024 17:15

Tara, Emma or Joanna (I was into The Avengers as a young teen, mostly because I had a crush on Diana Rigg)

Damian, Daniel or Pierce.

I didn't use any of them.

Dollmeup · 28/05/2024 17:15

Nicola, Jackie or Natasha ( which I would shorten to Tash).

I was a child in the 90s lol.

I can't remember if I had any boy ideas.

TeamPolin · 28/05/2024 17:17

Stacey (which I hate now)
Owen (which is DS's name!)

TheSproutOfWrath · 28/05/2024 17:21

Alice, Geraldine, Dorothy and Nigel.

My children have none of those names! Although my bump (daughter) was Alice until I gave birth and I decided it didn't suit her 😅

RobertaFirmino · 28/05/2024 17:27

Madonna if a girl, Kenny if a boy.

SilverSimca · 28/05/2024 17:30

Gary and Scott. Guess which decade I was a teenager...

RuthW · 28/05/2024 17:32

Keely
Kylie
Kelly
Kayleigh

I wasn't going to have a boy.

NameNew · 28/05/2024 17:35

Joanne or Karl. Not keen on either of those names now

VainAbigail · 28/05/2024 17:39

I wanted Crystal. Because they’re shiny and sparkly (said by my 10 year old self!!) so it was a pretty name. I never chose Crystal when the time came!

Barleycat · 28/05/2024 17:39

Mortar and pestle (twins)

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 28/05/2024 17:40

Leaf, River and Peace.
Very disappointed not to have been allowed hippie names.

CultOfRamen · 28/05/2024 17:42

Tospyornottospy · 28/05/2024 16:47

I loved Daphne from either Mallory Towers or The Twins at St Clare’s (can’t remember which), and also from the same I was keen in. Gwendoline and Willemina (spelling?)

I had a very very long list of pretentious names I liked, none of which I used (my children will thank me) Like a PP Persephone was on there, as was Cornelius and Montgomery.

I am cringing as I type

I love Persephone 😂although it is my cars name not my kids 🤣

15 y.o
me would have called my kid Charnie-Leigh and probably decked her out in rockports and a striped Fred perry jumper.

thank god I had a little more life experience by the time my kids came along 😂

Lilacdew · 28/05/2024 17:45

When I was about seven or eight I wanted a boy called Oliver - which is okay I suppose - still very popular.
And a girl called Gillian. No way.

This was the Seventies, so I've had a lot of changes of taste since.
