What would your children be called if you gave them the name you came up with as a boy/girl?

I would have a Ryder (male) and a Zola or Nova.

Came up with them when I was probably 15/16.

Not horrifically horrendous but I would now be disappointed had I become a teen mum.

Beatrice Eustacia. Luckily I have boys.

LadyHavelockVetinari · 28/05/2024 19:24

Vivian and Gabriel. Very glad I got 15 years to develop better taste!

Scarlettpixie · 28/05/2024 19:26

If I’d had a girl she would have been called India. I also liked Scarlett.
Another boy might have been Raphael.

Edited to say I just realised you said the names I came up with as a child.

I had Victoria for a girl and Marcus for a boy. Not sure where they came from!

Aviva and Fritha!

Aviva is a bus company round my way 😂

Clawdy · 28/05/2024 19:53

I know! It's an insurance company too!

motherofawhirlwind · 28/05/2024 19:57

Quinn, Niall, Malachi, Owen, Benji and then Savannah, Sienna, Serena (triplet girls, obvs). The other 15 were going to be adopted, so I may not have been able to choose....

I have one 😆

verabarbleen · 28/05/2024 20:00

All
Of my baby dolls were either called Josh or Rachel!

AdaColeman · 28/05/2024 20:04

I would have had a Sebastian, or my other favourites were Rupert (Brooke) and Siegfried (Sassoon) but all vetoed by the then husband, who wanted to name the baby after himself, though I vetoed that.

elliejjtiny · 28/05/2024 20:06

I would have named my children after the characters of my favourite tv programme at the time. So neighbours and then friends. I wanted Scott or Charlene when I was about 15. My mum was horrified. I do have an Ezekiel, and a Joey!

BobbyBiscuits · 28/05/2024 20:10

I loved Nova for a few years quite recently!

When I was about 9 I loved Nancy or aurora for a girl and Spike or Leo for a boy.

I liked Brodie for a girl for ages too...

flyinghen · 28/05/2024 20:32

I remember saying I wanted to call my kids rainbow

HolyMoly24 · 28/05/2024 20:36

As a young child I always said I wanted girl and boy twins called Kyle and Kylie. Can you imagine pahaha

GandDiva · 28/05/2024 20:36

Erin. I wanted it for my 1st 19 years ago but had a boy and still favoured it when I had my 2nd 11 years ago but had another boy!

utilitarianism · 28/05/2024 20:38

Probably around age 9 or so I thought Veronica was the most beautiful name ever. My bff at the time was planning to name her theoretical future daughter Gabrielle.

Scirocco · 28/05/2024 20:41

Random for a boy (from the Chronicles of Amber). Ophelia for a girl (from Hamlet). I had... issues.

AlltheFs · 28/05/2024 20:45

When I was really young - Brittany or Brittanie (why?!) I remember endless writing it in awful bubble writing. It was wasn’t Britney and was before Spears anyway so can’t blame that. Must have come from 90210 or similar. Cringe.

As an older teen - Lauren

DD is Felicity so nowhere near really!

TribeofFfive · 28/05/2024 20:50

When I was a teen I was adamant I was going to have a girl then a boy; Stacey & Alfie.

Alfie isn’t so bad but no longer a massive fan of it but Stacey 🙈

Meggie, after the girl/woman in The Thorn Birds. I loved that film.

I appreciate this 😂

I go to weekly sensory class with my 10 month old and there is a baby boy Ryder and a girl Nova!

Yellowhammer09 · 28/05/2024 20:51

I would have a son named Felix. Now that I have a son, the name got pushed down to fourth in the ranking. If I have triplet boys next time I'll have my baby Felix..!

Enko · 28/05/2024 20:54

Alexandrine
Beatrice

None of my daughters are called this

maras2 · 28/05/2024 20:59

Che Jagger.
Me and DH were fantasising about our future (this was in 1968) when we were very young.
We calmed down a bit and called our kids a less 'hippy' name.
Said kids are in their 40's now, me and DH still together and still wonder 'what if'?
And then having a little chuckle. 😆

Thewalrusandthecarpenter · 28/05/2024 21:00

Cybele

JR (as in Ewing)

Mortar and pestle (twins)

😂 love it!

MissScarletInTheBallroom · 28/05/2024 21:42

I would have an Alexandra, which was actually on my list when I was pregnant.
