To ask your filthy guilty pleasure food

The cake thread got me thinking - what’s your guilty pleasure food? Something that you objectively know is total rubbish but which you can’t get enough of.

I hold my hands up to liking chicken and sweetcorn pot noodles. I very very rarely have one but just occasionally, I do get the urge.

Also, dirt cheap takeaway pizza. The kind with non-specific tasteless cheese and tomato puree.

US here… spaghetti and meatballs (Italian sausage but it’s rare to find it delivered here) and garlic bread.

Here’s the guilty pleasure part.

It has to be delivery spaghetti and meatballs. Not that great. As I said delivered and it’s a Friday night after a long week with a bottle of wine. I twirl the spaghetti and put it on top of the garlic bead and take a bite.

Heaven.

Clearly this breaks all rules of decorum and I won’t admit to this outside my husband. But it’s the best thing ever!

That's..... Just fairly normal

Fried bacon grill (from a tin) slices in cheap white buttered bread, with loads of ketchup on the side

Favouritefruits · 28/05/2024 09:14

Salad cream and chilli sauce sandwich on fresh white bread😍

tiger2691 · 28/05/2024 09:15

Cake/ biscuits with my curry instead of rice or naan bread.

Chip butties/waffle butties with vinegar and tomato sauce.

Cheese n onion crisps butties, loads of butter and soft bread. Ideally with Tayto but usually Walker's.

SilverBirch99 · 28/05/2024 09:16

I'm a proper slag for cheese so a goats cheese tart with a side of the most creamy, garlicky dauphinoise you can imagine.

MintyCedric · 28/05/2024 09:23

Tinned spaghetti hoops (has to be hoops) with mini sausages in a bowl with triangles of thickly buttered white toast.

Used to be Pot Noodles, but then I got put off by that disgusting advert they did recently with the sucky noises. Honestly made me feel sick and I just can't look at a Pot Noodle now without thinking about it.

BUT now I've discovered Maggi 2-minute Noodles, so I'm hooked on them instead - masala flavour, haven't tried others yet. They are SO MUCH tastier than a Pot Noodle as well (although they don't come in their own pot, but that's not really a problem now that I'm not a student any more and actually own crockery).

Highly recommend you give them a try if you're a Pot Noodle fan - they're equally shit nutritionally but they taste better 😋

Left over lamb shish kebab the morning after when the bread has soaked up all the sauce and juices.
Deep fried cheap sausages, the type you get in a greasy spoon cafe breakfast.

White cotton wool bread, apricot jam, Brie, crispy bacon, microwave until Brie starts to melt. Scrummy!

SheepAndSword · 28/05/2024 09:41

Love a cheeseboard!

Potato waffles. Packet Thai noodles. Instant mash.

jotex · 28/05/2024 09:46

Plain hotdogs cooked in the panini maker :/

That sounds amazing!

I love a proper spaghetti carbonara...but sometimes.. I get a craving for the deeply unauthentic carbonara that a cafe near me used to serve.

It was basically pasta smothered in cream and streaky bacon and parmesan...so comforting.

ThankGodformythermos · 28/05/2024 09:51

Chip shop battered sausage, chips and curry sauce - haven't had it for aaages but always a winner 👍

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 28/05/2024 09:52

I wouldn’t say they’re exactly an addiction, but I usually keep a couple of those Fray Bentos tinned pies in, for the occasional days when I really just CBA to cook. Dh and I have one each, just with frozen peas, and thoroughly enjoy them.

I do bacon and brie on a panini with butter on one side and apricot jam on the other.

Also brie and finely sliced black grapes.

Cheese strings. I can demolish a pack of 8 in one go quite happily.

I also like instant chicken noodles.

BroughttoyoubyBerocca · 28/05/2024 09:57

Frozen ready meal chicken curry with white bread and butter is up there for me.

if takeaway a dirty KFC, with a g&t. Then all evidence of this is removed and none needs to know.

MintyCedric · 28/05/2024 09:58

For all the people adding apricot jam to their cheese and bacon…I can highly recommend mango chutney as an alternative.

BoomBoomPop · 28/05/2024 09:58

Chicken and mushroom pot noodle
bbq beef supernoodles
crisp sandwiches

none of which I have often but do get the odd craving and it doesn’t go away until I have what I want lol

Astrabelle · 28/05/2024 09:59

Tinned tuna
Straight out of the tin and standing up by kitchen sink
Pure bliss

IHopeYouStepOnALegPiece · 28/05/2024 10:02

Ramen noodles (I like a particular brand but you do you) with the seasoning packet sprinkled on top. Important part is that you don’t cook them and eat them like crisps
