To ask your filthy guilty pleasure food

The cake thread got me thinking - what’s your guilty pleasure food? Something that you objectively know is total rubbish but which you can’t get enough of.

I hold my hands up to liking chicken and sweetcorn pot noodles. I very very rarely have one but just occasionally, I do get the urge.

Also, dirt cheap takeaway pizza. The kind with non-specific tasteless cheese and tomato puree.

Potato waffles and dairylea slices in cheap white bread sandwiches

lollipoprainbow · 28/05/2024 07:35

Egg and bacon salad with fried bread and tomato's and mayo

A half baguette stuffed with homemade coleslaw and lots of crispy bacon

User214263 · 28/05/2024 07:45

Hash brown and sausages sandwich on cheap white bread with loads of ketchup. Perfect for a hangover.

Those little microwave chocolate puddings you get in the chiller section of the supermarket.

I haven’t been able to find Marmite in Italy since Brexit, so I’ve had to get creative with my cheap baguette and thick butter.
Soy sauce
Bouillon powder
Miso sachet
Bisto
and guiltiest of all, cooked in the dirty frying pan dregs.

DGM used to call it “dripping”.

therealcookiemonster · 28/05/2024 08:08

a great big mumsnet salad ofc. I try to just live off hemp and chia seeds most of the time 😂
no I don't feel guilty eating. we only live once and I love my food. packet ramen, parathas dripping in ghee, deep fried delicious things, icecream all goes in my gob without the slightest twinge of guilt

Another one here for the buttered rich tea biscuits 😋
Also crisps sandwiches...the crisps have to be cheese & onion flavour!

Idontjetwashthefucker · 28/05/2024 08:24

If you mean chicken & mushroom pot noodles OP then I'm totally with you, with cheap white bread and thickly spread butter. Yum

Newestname002 · 28/05/2024 08:30

I love a really good meaty, slightly herby, fat pork sausage. In a full English (I've been known to go out of my way for a good sausage-y breakfast without the weird additives some of them come with..). Also in a nice fat ciabatta panini with egg and roasted baby tomatoes. 🌹

VincentVanGoth · 28/05/2024 08:36

tin of spam, fried till crispy and in a sandwich with tomato sauce

Beautiful3 · 28/05/2024 08:40

I was thinking this the other week. I used to adore certain things, e.g. spicy crisps and dairy milk. Now I find I don't love anything anymore! Last night I had a piece of dairy milk, and thought that's nice. But I didn't love it or want any more. Anyone else find this happen to them too?

Cheap Brie (the one that never ripens and is unnervingly firm) with apricot jam. Eaten with a sharp knife in wedges in front of the telly. Pretend you aren’t going to eat the whole thing until you have to “because it’s not worth leaving that little bit”.

Wheredidileavemycarkeys · 28/05/2024 08:55

Chocolate eclairs. I know there’s nothing unusual about eclairs but I can (and do) eat several in one go.

margymary · 28/05/2024 08:57

White toast with butter then peanut butter then apricot jam then sprinkled with sultanas.

Rubyupbeat · 28/05/2024 08:57

Chip shop chips, smothered in vinegar, with mahoosive doorsteps of bloomer.

Jeannne92 · 28/05/2024 08:58

Dried noodles in the little packets that you boil for 5 mins. with the sachet of flavoured salt (and god knows what else.)

Wotsits, when I have a cold. Sadly they are not available where I live.

Bird's Eye cod fish fingers, the whole packet with a dab of ketchup and frozen peas. Haven't had it for years but have hankerings every so often.

A type of industrial 'brioche' that is round and composed of wheels of sweetened dough with a type of custardy layer (vertically) swirled into each wheel, and a bit of water icing dripped on top. About once a year I buy one in a hormonal hunger pang and feel both delighted and disgusted as I tuck in.

lollipoprainbow · 28/05/2024 08:59

Sausages with onion marmalade and peanuts!

FriedSprout · 28/05/2024 09:01

Cheddar and syrup sarnies
Crisp sarnies

Both on white bread 🥰

Notimeforaname · 28/05/2024 09:04

Crisps dipped in spreadable cheese.

Preferably Wotsits and Charleville cheese spread but will take anything if desperate.

Neveranynamesleft · 28/05/2024 09:04

Cheese slices with butter on crusty tiger bread.

spiderplantmum · 28/05/2024 09:05
