To ask your filthy guilty pleasure food

The cake thread got me thinking - what’s your guilty pleasure food? Something that you objectively know is total rubbish but which you can’t get enough of.

I hold my hands up to liking chicken and sweetcorn pot noodles. I very very rarely have one but just occasionally, I do get the urge.

Also, dirt cheap takeaway pizza. The kind with non-specific tasteless cheese and tomato puree.

It used to be Mini Kievs all the way here, but the quality is too rank now even for a slob night. They used to be delish and a treat at the pub with chips and salad back in the day!

GotAnyGrapeswaddlewaddl · 28/05/2024 10:55

Pork Scratchings-smell awful , taste divine

Seedy bloomer cut into a doorstep. Remove a bit of the middle to make a small hole. Fry it in smoking hot oil with an egg in the middle.

So unhealthy but absolutely gorgeous.

I've never felt 'guilty' about eating it though. I probably have one every few months as my cholesterol is slightly raised.

We use to call this dish 'egg in a nest'. Haven't had it for years. Think I will give it a try.

LegoFootPain · 28/05/2024 11:09

Nutella straight from the jar with a spoon

Wotsits dipped in salad cream

And crisps are less a guilty pleasure and more of an addiction. I never go a day without eating them.

I'm reading Ultra Processed People - this thread makes a lot of sense as a co-read!

Used to be supernoodles with baked beans for me or a greggs sausage roll.

IDontLikePinaColadas · 28/05/2024 11:22

Chicken super noodles with peas and loads of grated cheddar - YUM!! I have a secret stash of them hidden at the back of the cupboard for when the craving rears its head - it's not often, but when it does strike nothing else will do.

Chocolatepeanutbuttercupsandicecream · 28/05/2024 11:23

McDonald’s! Especially a cheeseburger happy meal with a chocolate milkshake (and if I’m feeling really classy, a shot of Bailey’s in the milkshake..)

supermarket tinned chicken curry, oven chips and warburtons white bread and butter. i only eat it when i am in on my own.

I'm fully with you on that!

Tescos do the best canned chicken curry! I think it's delicious!

I've never done it with chips, have always done it with rice, but can completely see how your version would be top-notch! The bread as well. YES PLEASE.

Therealjudgejudy · 28/05/2024 11:28

Bombay badboy pot noodle.

Maccies Fillet o fish meal, with pickles and chocolate milkshake

wutheringkites · 28/05/2024 11:30

I can't believe buttered toast and cheese boards are considered to be filthy guilty pleasures.

CultOfRamen · 28/05/2024 11:34

I live in remote Australia and whenever someone I know is travelling to uk, or we are meeting family from uk wherever in the world I make them bring me 50 packs of Batchelor super noodles. 25 chicken chow mein and 25 mild curry.
also packets of butterscotch angel delight.
im currently out of supplies and a small part of me has died.

Dearg · 28/05/2024 11:37

Warm Aberdeen Buttery, with melted butter and sliced cheese - blue cheese even better.
Heart attack on a plate.

eileandubh · 28/05/2024 11:43

Yes, a cheese board isn't a guilty pleasure, surely?! In my child brain, it's still the restrained and faintly superior adult alternative to a massive creamy Proper Pudding.

Malt loaf with generous slabs of butter, that's a guilty pleasure. Making 'too much' cream cheese frosting for a carrot cake oh dear shame to waste it and then eating what's left = guilty.

Cantonet · 28/05/2024 11:46

A warmed up croissant filled with Parma ham plus a slice of maasdam cheese.
Nothing else added - just perfect.

Cadburymonster · 28/05/2024 11:50

The little Mr Kipling apple and blackcurrant pies warmed slightly and covered in squirty cream.

Campbells condensed mushroom soup. Cold out of the tin with a spoon. Sometimes with buttered toast to dip in it.

Try the concentrated soup heated, knob of butter, garlic, as a pancake filling….

KreedKafer · 28/05/2024 11:59

wutheringkites · 28/05/2024 11:30

I can't believe buttered toast and cheese boards are considered to be filthy guilty pleasures.

Or goat's cheese tart and potatoes dauphinoise! 'Filthy'? Really!?

As I said above, one of mine is eating a box of Ritz crackers all in one go, like it was a packet of crisps. Spread with Primula cheese if possible.

Also a massive fan of doner kebabs, Pot Noodles, tinned custard, Carnation evaporated milk, cold Domino's pizza for breakfast, Flaming Hot Monster Munch, Haribo Star Mix, Friji milkshake and Greggs' sausage, cheese and bean bakes.

Also basically all food you can buy at shit seaside resorts (bags of hot doughnuts, sticks of rock, those red sugar dummies, cockles and whelks with vinegar, a double cone 99 with a flake and glowing red sauce, and blue Slush Puppies).

DP greatly enjoys a Fray Bentos pie. He also likes a battered smoked sausage and chips from Scottish chippies.

maddiemookins16mum · 28/05/2024 11:59

I apologise in advance for this horror BUT I really like that chicken in white sauce you get in a tin, with white rice (and heaps of black pepper).

HumanRightsAreHumanRights · 28/05/2024 11:59

Proper Middle Eastern Baklava.
The classic version, not the one with honey in it.

None of us seem to have any self control if it's in the house.

Noseybookworm · 28/05/2024 12:03

Bbq beef supernoodles
Packet mash potato with grated cheese and fried onions
Cheese findus crispy pancakes (sadly no longer 😢)
Chicago Town 3 minute in the microwave pizza
Pineapple jam sandwiches

FluentRubyDog · 28/05/2024 12:05

Cheese toasties in a press sandwich maker... had to give the said sandwich maker away or have my coronary arteries read me the riot act far sooner than expected... now I allow myself a small one in a hospital Costa if I'm waiting more than an hour between appointments (NOT in cardiology). Heaven.

Merluzzo · 28/05/2024 12:14

Thick white bread, toasted, spread with butter and marmite and smothered with cheesy baked beans.

For pudding a thick slab of malt loaf with Philadelphia cheese.

peakygold · 28/05/2024 12:15

Banana sandwich; white bread, overripe banana, butter about 2cm thick.

Colourofspring · 28/05/2024 12:24

Crunchy nut cornflakes with cream 😂 I’m a recent-ish vegan and to keep my craving going, I now use elmlea plant cream - it’s much the same really!!

cloudydays2 · 28/05/2024 12:30

Chip shop chips with lots of salt and vinegar topped with curry sauce....amazing.

Also partial to a bombay badboy potnoodle and and pickled onion crisps 😏
