To ask your filthy guilty pleasure food

The cake thread got me thinking - what’s your guilty pleasure food? Something that you objectively know is total rubbish but which you can’t get enough of.

I hold my hands up to liking chicken and sweetcorn pot noodles. I very very rarely have one but just occasionally, I do get the urge.

Also, dirt cheap takeaway pizza. The kind with non-specific tasteless cheese and tomato puree.

Yes but I think this is because I'm about savoury filth and nowadays more and more sugar and sweeteners are added by manufacturers which ruins it for me as all I can taste is sugar. Tried to have a dinner of onion rings this evening but were far too sweet, ditto ritz crackers and even non sourdough bread is too sweet. Biscuits and crisps also have a weirdly overly sweet flavour these days, so ginger nuts are a thing of the past. It basically means I only eat wanky sourdough, spanish olive oil crisps and the like which is too expensive and poncy to qualify as filth. I'd give toast and dripping a go though, haven't had that in decades

Yes this, youve hit the nail on the head. Everything now tastes too sweet, I no longer enjoy it like I used to. I've gone off store bought pizzas, so make my own and they're amazing. Nothing beats home made bread. I make most of my meals from scratch and they're lovely. Shop bought meals taste too sweet for me.

Bread and dripping . Gorgeous!!!

Doughnuts. Not ring ones, they're boring - jam or cream ones preferably. I can manage 3, but usually manage to stop at 2.

Take that back!! 😆 Plain ring sugar doughnuts (especially the warm ones from a dodgy looking van at the seaside), must surely be among the most scrumptious foods on earth?!

Womblealongwithme · 30/05/2024 13:00

Also just remembered my favourite student meal - super noodles with a tin of chicken supreme. Made one tin last two meals as it was a bit pricey. Surprisingly.

MyWhoHa · 30/05/2024 13:01

A Fray Bentos pie

LeaderBee · 30/05/2024 13:32

Hot Dogs

You know the ones...99 pence for 8 of them in a jar of brine.
They're gross but every once in a while I have a hankering for them in a bun with some fried onions and mustard.

ScattyGinger · 30/05/2024 15:27

I love bacon, cauliflower cheese and cranberry sauce toasties, or baguettes.

Abbyant · 30/05/2024 15:28

i got these pretzel, caramel clusters from Costco and I could eat the whole bag in a night. Incredible bad but worth it.

BigDahliaFan · 30/05/2024 15:31

M&S cheesy wotsits. I don't buy them as I'd eat the whole bag and turn orange.

Never seen supermarket tinned chicken curry or tinned semolina.
where can I buy these please. I love dark chocolate most biscuits and cake.
nothing gross though.

tinned chicken curry is in the tinned meat section - corned beef, Fray Bentos pies. Semolina is near rice pudding.

Emmz1510 · 30/05/2024 17:23

Another vote for chicken and mushroom pot noodles!
And a crisp sandwich. Or more accurately ‘a piece and crisps’ as us Scottish people call it’.

Getonwitit · 30/05/2024 17:30

A piece and crisps with a wee forkful of chicken and mushroom pot noddle in it as well is pure heaven.

Soosi · 30/05/2024 18:04

Auburngal
thanks but was looking for a supermarket rather than where on the shelf.

maxandru · 30/05/2024 20:40

Crunchy nut cereal with chocolate milk instead of normal milk. Absolutely delicious!

Crunchy nut cereal with chocolate milk instead of normal milk. Absolutely delicious!

Also the really fatty bits off roasted beef or lamb joints. Or the skin off roasted chicken.

Cattyisbatty · 30/05/2024 20:46

I can’t eat this anymore due to health issues but I loved a bag of cheese quavers with a can of Diet Coke!!

MrsClatterbuck · 30/05/2024 20:56

Also muesli with milk and tinned grapefruit. Can only have rarely as I am on a statin

Astrabelle · 30/05/2024 21:30

GoBubbles · 29/05/2024 22:37

Are you me? I pour some olive oil on the top.

Ohhhhh...improved recipe!!! must try that😉

Spottyhousecoat · 30/05/2024 21:53

Mine is a bit minging- half a tin of cold beans mixed with half a jar of silverskin pickled onions, eaten in the kitchen where no one can see me!

Sometimesright · 30/05/2024 22:07

Cinnamon and raisin bagal with butter marmite and smoked bacon & brown sauce delicious!

Segway16 · 30/05/2024 22:17

I don’t think I’ve ever felt guilty for eating any food. It’s there to be delicious.

But if you mean what less than healthy food do I love to indulge in occasionally… my favourite is a decent bottle of red wine and a cheese board to myself.

I also like a Bombay bad boy pot noodle (extra Tabasco).

Createausername1970 · 30/05/2024 22:21

Very boring in comparison to the rest of the thread.

White bread, butter, raspberry jam.

I don't like it as a sandwich with another slice on top, just as a single slice. I might eat multiple slices though.....

unmowngrass · 30/05/2024 22:48

I am probably a bit too fond of Coca-Cola. Anything else...food is still food. Sometimes fed is best, and sometimes that includes yourself. No shame.

AmIEnough · 31/05/2024 09:34

Treeslets!!!

TheDumpling · 31/05/2024 13:54

OMG it sounds gorgeous!
