To ask your filthy guilty pleasure food

The cake thread got me thinking - what’s your guilty pleasure food? Something that you objectively know is total rubbish but which you can’t get enough of.

I hold my hands up to liking chicken and sweetcorn pot noodles. I very very rarely have one but just occasionally, I do get the urge.

Also, dirt cheap takeaway pizza. The kind with non-specific tasteless cheese and tomato puree.

Cheesy chips. I don't have them often but it's my ultimate comfort food. Skin on fries in the airfryer followed by mountains of cheese and garlic and herb dressing drizzled on it. It's soooo much better than the kebab shop stuff you get after a night out.

Cheesy chips with instant gravy. Delish

Condensed milk straight from the tin with a spoon.

Those frozen toad in the hole for 1 with tinned spagetti hoops ☺️

I do that!

Campbells condensed mushroom soup. Cold out of the tin with a spoon. Sometimes with buttered toast to dip in it.

Smash with mayonnaise

US here… spaghetti and meatballs (Italian sausage but it’s rare to find it delivered here) and garlic bread.

Here’s the guilty pleasure part.

It has to be delivery spaghetti and meatballs. Not that great. As I said delivered and it’s a Friday night after a long week with a bottle of wine. I twirl the spaghetti and put it on top of the garlic bead and take a bite.

Heaven.

Clearly this breaks all rules of decorum and I won’t admit to this outside my husband. But it’s the best thing ever!

Sugar or banana sandwich, must be good crusty white bread and lurpak butter.

I love McDonald's cheeseburgers.

Are they unhealthy? Yes. Are they plasticky? Absolutely. Do they look remotely like food? Of course not.

But that serotonin release when you get a mouthful with a gherkin in it! It's second to none.

A calorific creamy pasta dish with cheesy garlic bread and chips. Carbs, carbs and more carbs with cheese on top 😍

Corned beef sandwich with tomato sauce. The bread has to be cheap, white supermarket stuff and the corned beef from a tin. DH swears it’s dog food.

Oh my god yes! I never thought I'd know of someone else loving this.

I go all out now and get a double cheeseburger with EXTRA pickles... Heaven.

Half a bag of cheap chicken nuggets with mayo and tomato sauce

Cheesy chips and gravy, absolute filth

Rice pudding - Ambrosia if possible, but cheap supermarket own brand will do at a pinch - eaten cold, straight out of the tin. It's been my go-to indulgence for more years than I care to remember.

Also, thanks to an American friend, fried leftover macaroni cheese. It's an absolute game-changer.

A slice (or two) of fried white bread with two fried eggs atop it. Fucking yum. And there's me wondering why I take statins for my cholesterol

That looks fit

I used to love the Chicago Town microwave pizzas- I know they are awful but used to be so, so good. I hadn’t had one in years and thought I’d ‘treat’ myself-they’ve changed the recipe 😒

I like to get a tin of curry (Sainsbury's do my favourites) and eat that on its own. Occasionally I'll make some rice or naan to go with it, but I'll just eat the tin by itself most of the time.

Bloody delicious.

It's been two years since I stopped eating ultra processed food, so these days my guilty pleasure is white sourdough bread.

Meatballs, tomato sauce, cheese and golden syrup in a buttered roll 😋
