To not like cake.

I just don't see the attraction of cake. I don't like anything spongey or fairy cakes or tarts or anything.

I'm not virtuous. I'm overweight for my height as I love savoury things/ wine/ cheese/ carbs.

It's definitely not about trying to be 'good'. I just don't like it. But cake seems so everywhere and popular. I went to my mum's friend's house today and the cake she had made came out straight away. I feel rude saying that I don't like it - and I did have a small slice to be polite, but I just didn't and don't enjoy it.

I think maybe it's a texture thing. Anyone else?

Homemade ... I meant bad hygene thoughts put me off.

( predictive text changed it!)

You’re in the minority. A slice of cake is a very normal thing to offer a guest. I love cake

I really dislike cake - well the sponge part anyway. I just scrape all the gooey insides out and eat that.

Even worse than cake is pastry. Never eat the rotten old depressingly beige stuff. Just yuk.

We should be friends. I only like the cake bit and leave the gooey inside stuff/ icing etc to the side.

Between us, we’d only need to buy one slice. Think of the money we could save at cafes!

I've just remembered there is one cake I like but you can't get it anymore, Sara Lee Black Forest Gateau - now that WAS a cake 🎂

i love Black Forest gateaux! Gutted it’s out of fashion!

My friend doesn't really like sweets things. She prefers savoury food. I think cake is bloody marvellous. We both had our bodies' response to sugar tested through Zoe. She could handle sugar exceptionally well - tiny blood sugar rise. I handled it exceptionally poorly - massive blood sugar high, massive low. We wondered if this biological difference affected our food preferences. Basically, I get a massive "hit" from the sugar, but she doesn't .

I love cake! Especially homemade, because it's better and has proper ingredients and I'm not a hygiene-obsessed germophobe <disclaimer - having actual OCD is obviously a different matter>. I work in a school and will very happily eat cookies and cakes made by the students and have done for decades with no ill effects!

Also, buttercream is good but only if there's not an excessive amount of it and it's made with actual butter. The 'buttercream' you get on bought cakes, that's made with vegetable oil, emulsifiers and artificial flavouring is grim!

I don't like cake much either. Love savoury food and definitely not teeny tiny 🤣
I really don't like the dry claggy way it seems to clump in my mouth. Coated in sticky icing makes me honestly heave.
All made worse by no one ever believing me when I say I don't like cake.
My sil who is cake obsessed went to huge effort to make a birthday cake for me as it happened to land on a weekend all the extended family could get together. I don't mind a straightforward victoria sponge so said that would be great. She turned up with a huge chocolate thing covered in ganache and when I politely declined a piece had a right strop.
Cake people are a bit strange.

Agreed! DM is not a cake fan. Her friends literally get angry with her about it. Cake lovers, please just learn to live and let live 🙏🏻

Not a cake fan either, but there's not much I wouldn't do for a slice of cheese or unattended sausage roll.

However I do love an occasional cornflake cake, boudoir finger or trifle sponge. See 'sensory seeking' Wink
