im writing here litreally from observation of a few threads.
One the other day was about a song lyrics which was wrong being about anal sex and some of the posters made out the word sex was crude.
on one today about a women with a hangover all the comments was on 7 year old shouldn’t have been left till 10am.
there was one about a women missing a wedding with a newborn and many people were commenting saying the dad should come back that night (because imagine a women having to look after kids on her own for one night)

i read Mumsnet regularly and I find nearly every other poster to act as if they are middle class have a husband who works a good job. Have never left a child unsupervised for half a hour up to the age 10….

i don’t know if it’s me (I’m a single mum council flat which is temporary) but it seems everyone on here acts as if they live comfortably large houses if you read a thread in houses everyone’s got a en-suite I got 3 people in one room 🤣 and I’m not jelous I had a horrible life that I’ve left now have a degree and nearly a home of my own and I’m really happy just wondered if it’s fake Reply’s , fake OPs or that genuinely the demographic of users.

OP posts:

Obviously there are fake posts on MN, but having quite a big house and busy children, a husband with a good job, and/or a good job yourself - these are not at all unbelievable or unusual things, so I don't know why you would think people are lying. There's a big class and socio-economic range on MN, but there are definitely plenty of financially fairly comfortable middle class people. Why wouldn't there be?

I cannot bear ensuite bathrooms. Just a partition wall between my plopping and DH inadvertently listening? And then a bedroom full of poopy smell and mould-inducing shower steam? No thanks.

YaMuvva · 27/05/2024 15:38

The hangover thread is hilarious. Posters claiming the 7yo has a “ruined childhood” and that he’s a “young carer” - all because ONCE he took his mum a biscuit and some squash 😂😂 I have NEVER met people IRL who’d say anything like this. Even the very odd people I know wouldn’t trot out this shite. I can’t decide if people on here REALLY think that and must suppress their true selves IRL, or if they don’t think that and, for whatever reason, just enjoy sticking the boot into every OP they come across.

I had an en-suite on our last home. I hated it, and essentially cordoned it off. Because yes it’s like having a poo in your bedroom and the smell comes through too

I don't think that posting by @RishiSunak is really him.
There's something not quite right about it...
It makes one wonder if you can you trust anyone these days? 🤔

😂

the80sweregreat · 27/05/2024 16:15

I've never had an en suite and proud of this fact ! 😂 it's my badge of honour

Ciderlout · 28/05/2024 00:19

Fake? Probably a few but I take most posters as genuine.

Deluded and bonkers? Aye, there’s many of these people about!

Mothership4two · 28/05/2024 13:20

Having a wry smile at the posters who 'know' who is or isn't genuine or can easily spot a fake or trot out percentages of fake v genuine on MN. In reality they have no idea - just like the rest of us. We can all make a best guess, but we don't know for sure.

Why wouldn't you use downstairs loo for poo and just use en-suite bathroom to shower and pee?

TheaBrandt · 28/05/2024 13:39

En-suite a Life saver now I’m up 3 times a night for peri menopausal bathroom trips 🙄

Mothership4two · 28/05/2024 13:45

Going off topic, but I think en suites that are in a completely separate room to the bedroom either part of the original build or a converted room generally seem to keep noise and smells out. Unlike ones put in to existing bedrooms with stud walls which may be whiffier and not as sound-proof.

Edited

I see people claiming that it must be fake because "no mother would smoke weed around their own toddler" I know of at least 2 people who did just that and I get irrationally wound up by those posts lol like they are calling me a liar because I happen to know people that they claim don't exist 😂

Not if you just poo in another bathroom. I use my en suite for showers and middle of the night wees. We have 2 other bathrooms but we also have 5 people in the house so the more showers the better really!

Dweetfidilove · 28/05/2024 14:13

There is some fakery, but I don’t think that represents the majority of the posts here.

I live in a HA property in Zone 6, but we’re surrounded by houses the likes of which people describe on here.

Of my daughter’s friendship groups, three of the girls’ live in a minimum 5 BR home - all occupied by 2 adults and 2 children and with individual en-suites. The only difference to MN threads is that 2 of the moms have high flying careers and the third a very good career.

I may not be not live that lifestyle, but I appreciate it does exist, so don’t assume people are faking it on here.

Everyone lives 'rurally' and on aibu yesterday people were supposedly going about 4 big holidays in a year!

Some people have enough money to do that though. Some people are rich, Some people are poor. Are rich people not allowed to have problems or post in the internet?

I live rurally. Why do you assume that's a lie? I genuinely don't understand.

And im sorry OP but where i live, every single house has a small ensuite! Estate built in the 80s, the non estate houses round here are actually bigger and some will have two ensuites. Or more.

My yacht has five ensuites, not counting crew quarters.

Is it one of those tiny yachts for poor people?!
