In case it upsets Scotland

Ffs! Have we actually become this divided and petty that we're going to get angry at an English man for supporting his country during a football tournament?! I'm sick of it

A spokesman for the party has denied that this happened.

Honestly, as a Scot, I couldn’t give a fuck if an Englishman wears an England shirt.

Mrsjayy · 26/05/2024 08:58

If he wants to be prime minister he has to be impartial and a football top isn't impartial he has to be seen on everybody's team.

Where did you see this It I'm sure the headline wasn't to "offend scotland ffs" if it was then that's on you for reading nonsense.

Mrsjayy · 26/05/2024 08:59

I mean as a Scot I also couldn't care less.
.

Aurle · 26/05/2024 09:01

The daily mail is the only source for this that I can see? It’s more than likely bullshit

A football top isn't related to the government at all - it's a man supporting his country at a sports tournament

I've just had a search yes just the Daily mail !

Jessie21 · 26/05/2024 09:05

It's been on the news channels too.

pantsalot · 26/05/2024 09:08

As a Scot, I would not care a jot. He's English why wouldn't he support England?

which one?

NeverEnoughPants · 26/05/2024 09:11

Don't blame Scottish people for this (if it's true). According to the article, it has come from his advisors - I guess there might be one or two Scots among them, but us Scots haven't come together to make this an issue. That's entirely on him and the people he chooses to have around him.

Has it I had bbc breakfast on I didn't see it.

ExtraOnions · 26/05/2024 09:14

Another bullshit story … the Right-Wing are clutching at straws. Luckily this sort of thing only really bothers your “little Englander” Reform party types, who won’t be voting for him anyway.

It’s the kind of nonesense story that Joe Lycett was planting in the press, to show his easy it is to spread a lie

backaftera2yearbreak · 26/05/2024 09:14

🙄

how long till this madness is over again? The man English ffs. Of course he should support his team. Jesus. Im Scottish, only the SNP will care! The rest of us not so much.

I mean this, if he has been advised its will imo be more about impartiality than offending the Scots .

Football tops look bloody awful on most people, especially plump men over a certain age, so that seems sensible.

This.

I’m a Scot. I couldn’t care less. But I can imagine the SNP would (pretend to) foam over it with a view to riling up the hard of thinking amongst us.

pootlin · 26/05/2024 09:19

Give it a few months, soon it’ll be time for them to claim again that people can’t say Merry Christmas in case it upsets Muslims.

weebarra · 26/05/2024 09:20

As a Scot, I don't care.

With pictures of "winterfest" lights in some random town!

Onda · 26/05/2024 09:24

I'm in Scotland, also voted SNP for as long as I can remember and I wouldn't care in the slightest.

LongSinceGotUpAndGone · 26/05/2024 09:24

I'm of the opinion that football shirts look tacky worn anywhere other than the environs of a football pitch. He should wear 'smart casual' when he is on campaign. Entirely up to him what he wears when he is not on official business.

Yes it really would not look becoming on Sir Keir. England really need a new colour of shirt, the white and flashes of red clash horribly with the typical English complexion.

Misthios · 26/05/2024 09:25

I'm Scottish and couldn't give two hoots, but for the love of god spell the man's name correctly.

KEIR.

CranfordScones · 26/05/2024 09:26

It's the SNP that he's mainly contesting with - and that's exactly the sort of pettiness they love to incite.

BuyOrBake · 26/05/2024 09:27

I'm Welsh.

I think it's totally reasonable for Kier to wear an England shirt to support his team if he wants to.

What would upset me is seeing him wear a Welsh one🤣
