In case it upsets Scotland

Ffs! Have we actually become this divided and petty that we're going to get angry at an English man for supporting his country during a football tournament?! I'm sick of it

This is right up there with the 'you can't hang an England flag' shit the tabloids are so fond of. Do people really fall for this shit?

I don't even see the logic of potentially offending the Scots. If it was England v Scotland I could see why he should show impartiality but why should Scotland care if he supports England over Spain?

He's English. He should be able to support his team.

If he wants to be prime minister he has to be impartial and a football top isn't impartial he has to be seen on everybody's team.

Where did you see this It I'm sure the headline wasn't to "offend scotland ffs" if it was then that's on you for reading nonsense.

Yeah. This. What if they were playing against Wales or Scotland or N Ireland?

This story/thread is from before the election, when Scotland were still in the tournament.

JaggyJumper · 13/07/2024 22:10

I would be surprised if anyone in Scotland cared that an English man is wearing an England strip

Well, yes. Thank you for answering a different question to the one I asked by telling me something I already know!

Ah, I see, thank you.

Westfacing · 13/07/2024 22:14

PMs, princes, presidents etc surely wear suits at such events!

Thevelvelletes · 13/07/2024 22:16

Couldn't care less..as long as he's good at the day job.

Cooper77 · 13/07/2024 22:30

I'm English, but it wouldn't have bothered me if Gordon Brown had worn a Scotland shirt when he was the British PM.

I'm Scottish and was AGREEING with you. FFS. I thought it's us who were supposed to be easily offended.

I've just had a search yes just the Daily mail !

It has been a very quiet week in politics. They need to find SOMETHING.

Edinvillian · 13/07/2024 23:36

I'm Scottish, I don't care. Would be funny if he wore a Spanish one though 😆

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 13/07/2024 23:39

Surely not that many men of his age would wear and England shirt anyway?

I support England I wouldn’t wear the shirt either.

Xenia · 14/07/2024 12:03

I don't mind at all what he wears although if it were a palestinian flag shirt or ban the bomb or whatever that might not be wise.

(Plenty of men his age will be wearing the shirt but it probably depends on their social class as to whether they do or not).
