No, I don’t think a Labour government will set the world on fire, and I’m not particularly excited by the prospect but BLOODY HELL I can’t wait to see the back of this lot.

Stick them all on a plane to Rwanda.

I’ve got everything crossed that Rees Mogg in particular loses his seat.

OFFS. ENOUGH! Self ID was brought in UNDER THE TORIES. If they really cared about that issue, they wouldn't have allowed it to happen.

But it wasn't implemented fully like in some other countries. If any gov is going to push it through it's the one that employed a teenage boy as their minister for women.

needsomeadvice22 · 23/05/2024 09:36

Fuck the tories. 🌹

needsomeadvice22 · 23/05/2024 09:37

They've already said they don't have a magic wand and it'll take years to undo the Tory damage, they've owned it.

But in 4 years they can make positive changes and the start of bringing the country back up.

Anything is better than another 4 years of the tories.

WalrusOfLove · 23/05/2024 09:43

I dislike both tbh. My main fear with labour is being taxed to the hilt and yet not really seeing any tangible improvement in anything.

The Labour Party chose Jeremy Corbyn as their last leader, an antisemite who supported terrorism

Yes, and he has now been kicked out of the party and will have to stand as an independent, so it’s clear that Starmer has made an effort to show that the party has changed since then. What have the Tories done to show they have changed since Truss last year? And since Boris, they’ve had a parade of appalling scandals where they have not removed the whip or sacked the MP in question.

Many of the antisemites from the Corbyn era are still MPs such as John McDonald and will stand as Labour MPs in the next election. What effort has he made to show the party has changed when we still hear daily antisemitism from many Labour MPs?

As to what the Tories did about Liz Truss - they replaced her as leader after 43 days. Bojo was replaced too and is now no longer an MP. What “scandals” have there been since Liz Truss where people haven’t lost the whip?

it’s ok to support the Labour Party (no doubt as your union does). But pretending it’s something to do with past leaders is just silly.

Their stated policies now (and tbh their leaders) aren’t terribly different. I have concerns about aspects of both parties proposals.

What did they do about known fuckwit and obvious liability Liz Truss? They made her Prime Minster and gave her the keys to the Treasury for long enough to put up everyone's mortgage. 43 days when she shouldn't have had 43 hours.

Boris resigned, but there are plenty of people in the Tory party who would love to see him come back. He tried to be PM again in 2022 even after partygate and all the lies, corruption, putting a Russian agent in the House of Lords, Chris Pincher etc! And he got the nominations. Absolutely batshit.

What “scandals” have there been since Liz Truss where people haven’t lost the whip?

William Wragg, the guy who was blackmailed with pictures of his dick into giving up MPs personal phone numbers didn't have the whip removed because Rishi said he had a apologised. Wragg resigned the whip himself because it was so ridiculous. That was, like, last month? Have you already forgotten?

I'm not a Labour supporter.

I find Labour really uninspiring ansi have concerns that they will promote gender ideology which is contrary to women’s rights. So not bothered- id rather just not have change (not that I think there will be significant change anyway

You're really happy to have five more years of this government?

So what was your post for?

it’s called an online discussion, people add their own thoughts and commentary. sometimes those thoughts and commentary reflect people’s feeling of being caught between the devil and the deep blue sea.

youngones1 · 23/05/2024 10:57

Starmer has as much charisma as a boiled potato.

Tiredalwaystired · 23/05/2024 11:02

Johnson had tons of charisma. Didn’t mean he could do the job well.

I don't care about his lack of charisma. I'm sick of personality politics. I care that a PM does the job as well as possible.

Electing people on charisma is what’s got the country into a mess in the first place.

@Loubelle70 well i would class half the mothers in my street as scroungers! Kids by all different dads, never worked a day in their lives ( and never intend to either) sit on their fat backsides out the front of their houses drinking and smoking all day long while their feral children run wild! Kids are always filthy and eating sweets while their mothers complain how skint they are yet they always have cigarettes and cider!! There are whole families with generations of people like this that expect the rest of us to fund them!

The average Tory voter outlines their reasons for doing so. Says it all really.

Darnley · 23/05/2024 11:25

And replace them with more corrupt incompetent fuckers ?

Boomer55 · 23/05/2024 11:29

Helloandgoodmorning2 · 23/05/2024 00:57

I am old enough to remember Labour being in power twice. I had such high hopes for Blair, he was an excellent speaker and I believed every word he said. I learnt my lesson and have been disapointed ever since. I and all my family and politically savy friends will be voting for Reform. I cannot vote for any of those mainstream clowns.

If you believe Tice is an honest and truthful would be MP, you really aren’t that savvy.

frankentall · 23/05/2024 11:29

Gettingbysomehow · 23/05/2024 08:34

I'm wondering if Sunak has such a massive ego he assumes he will get back In easily or if he's just had enough because the plotters are out for his blood and want him replaced with yet another PM.

I think it's the second one.

frankentall · 23/05/2024 11:30

Darnley · 23/05/2024 11:25

Where could we find anyone more corrupt and incompetent?

I don't think it will be the landslide people think, there are many voters like me who are currently 'homeless' no one has won my vote yet.

There is also a very silent majority like my parents who will never vote Labour.

People were saying exactly the same on here about Labour landslide at the last election, and look how well that turned out

frankentall · 23/05/2024 11:33

WalrusOfLove · 23/05/2024 09:43

iamwhatiam23 · 23/05/2024 11:36

@crackofdoom if you had bothered to read my pp you would see that i am not prepared to vote for either the tories or Labour 🙄

RafaistheKingofClay · 23/05/2024 11:22

Electing people on charisma is what’s got the country into a mess in the first place.

Exactly. I want competence, diligence and integrity, not whoever will put up the most entertaining performance on some TV panel show.

SocksAndTheCity · 23/05/2024 11:41

frankentall · 23/05/2024 11:30

Never say never. Nobody thought it was possible to make Priti Patel look rational until they found Braverman.

Darnley · 23/05/2024 11:42

All of them. Our political system is useless and needs complete overhaul.

MartinsSpareCalculator · 23/05/2024 11:49

DistinguishedSocialCommentator · 22/05/2024 18:20

Then move and see what Labour has to offer you - just look at labour coucils and their council tax rates😂

I chose 2 random neighbouring towns. Walsall is Tory led and Wolverhampton is Labour led.

Council tax is higher in Walsall under every band.

So what's your point supposed to be?
