No, I don’t think a Labour government will set the world on fire, and I’m not particularly excited by the prospect but BLOODY HELL I can’t wait to see the back of this lot.

Stick them all on a plane to Rwanda.

I’ve got everything crossed that Rees Mogg in particular loses his seat.

I will be voting Reform as will many family, friends and work colleagues.

Both the Tories and Labour have together completely trashed this country.

Time to give another party a go.

<runs and hides behind sofa 👀>

The Tories losing votes they really can't afford to lose to Reform just makes the election outcome more certain. 👍

Well I know absolutely nothing about labours policies. I’ll never vote for them anyway. I suspect our area will swing back to Lib Dem. I’m not sure I’ll even bother voting. This country is fucked and none of them are going to sort it out. Will probably end up paying even more tax under labour.

I know bugger all about politics. Why is lib dem never mentioned? Are they awful?

They are my constituency and have been really good

Edited

I’m no political expert by a long stretch but I think their current difficulties stem back to them entering a coalition with the tories, something a lot of Lib Dem voters (like me at the time) found galling. And although I actually think they are the reason that the Tory government was not as bad at first (with the real shit show starting when the tories got the majority) they do not feel a trustworthy choice to many who feel betrayed by what happened. Also they then stood as a party that would keep the UK in the EU which I imagine alienated some of their voters.

All that being said if I was in a constituency where a tactical vote for Lib Dem was the one to beat the Tory then I would vote Lib Dem no question.

What a fucking defeatist attitude. Nothing would ever change if no one voted. This is how Brexit passed, because too many never bothered to vote "because it'll never happen anyway!"

Find a party who you mostly agree with, vote for them. It isn't difficult.

Feel a frisson of excitement for the night of 4th July as you look through this list of predicted Tory seat losses (note Johnson has already gone).

Oh do fuck off dear.

would you rather Labour loving benefit Britain hand out all your hard earned money and high taxes to the scroungers???? Because believe me, they will and worse!!

I don’t particularly like our current Tory government. However, a Labour one will be hugely more damaging.
this country is screwed!

Explain who you class as 'scroungers'

iamwhatiam23 · 22/05/2024 21:35

@Loubelle70 well i would class half the mothers in my street as scroungers! Kids by all different dads, never worked a day in their lives ( and never intend to either) sit on their fat backsides out the front of their houses drinking and smoking all day long while their feral children run wild! Kids are always filthy and eating sweets while their mothers complain how skint they are yet they always have cigarettes and cider!! There are whole families with generations of people like this that expect the rest of us to fund them!

Callipygion · 22/05/2024 21:47

BusyCM · 22/05/2024 17:40

Sadly my constituency will still vote for them 😔

Mine too. Daily Fail territory, sadly. Bastards.

We've had a Tory government for the last 14 years. You must be annoyed at the Tories taking all your hard earned taxes to fund that cider?

@noblegiraffe i think both tories and labour are vile! The tories go for the easy targets like disability benefits and Labour hand out money left right and centre to any fucker that wants some!

I don't think the Tories have left any money for them to be actually able to do that.

Vote for whoever you want, but please don't make this a single issue election. That's what they want! And never forget..

Parties at Downing Street while our 999 call centers weren't allowed to share snacks over Xmas shifts

No PPE for our nurses and doctors

Discharges to care homes

"Let the bodies pile high" (Boris)

Barnard Castle 👀

100,000 excess deaths

Illegally shutting down parliament to prevent diplomatic process on Brexit

Two PMs who were never elected

24 hour waits in A&E, people are dying in the waiting rooms

Shortages of medication, food, small businesses going bust.. BREXIT :/

Classrooms without a permanent teacher. Schools with no resources.

No GP appointments. No dentists for so many.

Nurses using food banks.

7% mortgages and a crashed economy

25,000 company insolvencies in 2023 - the highest rates in 30 years

Absolutely useless and unaffordable public transport

Ever decreasing promises on climate change efforts

Inhuman treatment of the most vulnerable in our society

The UK is the lowest ranking it has ever been in the global corruption index - "This sharp fall in the UK’s score is a powerful indictment of a recent decline in standards in government and controls over the use of taxpayer money"

And we can't go swimming because our rivers and our seas are FULL OF SHIT while water companies have made record profits

Corruption, dishonesty and contempt for normal people is the Tory legacy.

LadyHavelockVetinari · 22/05/2024 22:27

I like the optimistic attitude on this thread but I honestly just feel despondent. The whole system depressed me. Yeah, I want the Tories gone. But when we wake up on election results day it will either be to find ourselves with two decades of Tory government or to find a frankly uninspiring government whose main policy is not being two decades of Tory government. I don't know, I guess I have a few weeks to muster up some excitement.

RafaistheKingofClay · 22/05/2024 22:33

Schools literally falling down

Increased number of children living in poverty

Increased levels of homelessness

Record numbers of people, including those in work using food banks

Largest drop in living standards on record.

Stunted growth in children probably as a result of many of the above.

So much corruption the governments own anti corruption tsar quit because there was too much of it

Being in contempt of parliament (more than once)

Slowly getting rid of as many of the parliamentary mechanisms for holding the government to account as possibly.

RafaistheKingofClay · 22/05/2024 22:35

How? Gunpowder plot 2024?

I don't think there has ever been a time when the political class across almost the entire the western world has been so uninspiring and some of them downright dangerous.

hcee19 · 22/05/2024 22:51

I am at a loss, none of them ever do what they say, in their manifestos. Who can we trust, we need a Prime Minister who puts the British people first, who really cares about our country. Stop sending aid to countries that don't need it, how about using that money to keep everyone in the UK, with a roof over their heads, ensure no-one suffers with a freezing home in the winter and, can afford a decent meal. Look after our veterans with the dignity and humanity they deserve. The UK, cannot save the world .
Illegal immigration, needs to be dealt with, & it hasn't been because immigration does not affect all these MP's...l bet they don't struggle to find a school for their children, or pushed down the housing list as immigrants are more important, etc etc....This country needs a complete overhaul, but l don't believe any party will do a decent job....they are in it for themselves....it's a bloody disgrace

The Tories have had 14 years to get things right. Fourteen years! And what do we see? Housing crisis, rack-renting, rivers full of sewage, carers being persecuted over pennies, honest post office workers treated like criminals...that's just off the top of my head. The Tories are the party that punches down. Time to give Labour a chance.

TimeFlysWhenYoureHavingRum · 22/05/2024 23:11

1000 times YES!
I hope the evil Tory Party is destroyed once and for all. And with them the corrupt media that has been feeding the beast and brainwashing otherwise decent people for the past 40 years.
A fresh start is what we need. I just hope Labour have the courage to make the real changes that will make a difference.
We await the manifesto with interest!
