No, I don’t think a Labour government will set the world on fire, and I’m not particularly excited by the prospect but BLOODY HELL I can’t wait to see the back of this lot.

Stick them all on a plane to Rwanda.

I’ve got everything crossed that Rees Mogg in particular loses his seat.

Wow. So they’ve finally siphoned off all they can. I’m just thinking of that film where they open the bank vault and there’s jusT nothing inside

OFFS. ENOUGH! Self ID was brought in UNDER THE TORIES. If they really cared about that issue, they wouldn't have allowed it to happen.

Self id was NOT brought in by the Tories at all. May wanted it but it was dumped. The GRA however was brought in under Labour and Dodds considers it one of their finest achievements.

As opposed to a man who's done fuck all about changing the law

Bye bye Tory bastards. Thank you for ruining the country try not too do too much more in the next 2 months.

So you would support Starmer sacking off the GRA then? That the Labour govt brought in? Because he won't do that - he's all about making it even easier to identify as the opposite sex.

ACynicalDad · 22/05/2024 18:41

I'm generally Tory, but it's time for a clear out. I hope they aren't decimated, I don't think huge majorities are good for anyone, but can't see Rishi being PM on the 5th July.

Me neither. They need to sort themselves out though if they are even going to be an effective opposition.

Then move and see what Labour has to offer you - just look at labour coucils and their council tax rates😂

I can't! I'm a poor fucker in social housing 😂

This is one of those posts that makes me smile and then instantly sad. It’s likely sinister enough to be the truth of the matter.

I'd actually have some respect for him if he really believed this, but he doesn't.

I won’t vote for the Tories but I’m not voting for any party that thinks a person can change sex or that a woman can have a penis so who do I vote for?

I don’t think it’s worth determining your vote on that basis, tbh.

However you feel about it in terms of ideology (and I make no judgment), people in the UK can legally change their sex. They’ve been able to do so since the Gender Recognition Act was passed into law; and the UK was required to enact that law (or a broadly similar one) by the European Court of Human Rights.

That’s likely the main reason the Tories haven’t tried to make any actual changes to relevant laws.

Sunak, or whoever else, can tell you “of course women don’t have penises” all he likes but it’s just pandering.

In terms of actual legal reform, likely the biggest changes that could be hoped for are amendments to (or the replacement of) the Equalities Act to clarify and/or expand the scope of single-sex spaces but that is likely wrought we complexities too, hence (again) no reforms under the current government, regardless of what they profess to believe.

The Tories had pledged to make changes, but have not done so. Labour have made a similar pledge but, to be perfectly honest, I’ll be surprised if it’s on the immediate agenda when they come into power.

Tory stronghold, where I am.

fettybord · 22/05/2024 19:19

Registering for postal vote right now!!!

CranfordScones · 22/05/2024 19:20

And you really think that in 10 years' time Labour will be regarded any differently (assuming they last that long)?

I can't wait for the preening virtue signalling of a government desperate to be the first to appoint a female cabinet minister with a penis. Perhaps he/she/they will even be a Minister for Women. Not for any good reason - just to wipe people's noses in it. That's the mentality of petty spite you're voting for.

Thats the spirit

Where i live is a stronghold too but these feels different. I just hope we can get a candidate willing to have a crack at it here - the last election so many people tactically voted.

RickyGervaislovesdogs · 22/05/2024 19:34

Tories hold this area, Tory cllr lives by us but I always vote Labour and put a poster up in the window and he always knocks and tells me to remove it. (I work for the LA). 🤣But I don’t give a fuck.

Pin0cchio · 22/05/2024 19:35

Im doing myself an Election Playlist.

Do you hear the people sing
Times they are a changing
A change will do you good
Talkin' bout a revolution

Suggest more please, clever folk of mn

Oh do fuck off dear.

would you rather Labour loving benefit Britain hand out all your hard earned money and high taxes to the scroungers???? Because believe me, they will and worse!!

I don’t particularly like our current Tory government. However, a Labour one will be hugely more damaging.
this country is screwed!

Pin0cchio · 22/05/2024 19:40

And what exactly have the tories done with our hard earned taxes? Oh yeah made their mates richer while public services have literally gone down the sewer.

But Jeremy Corbyn will be here soon with Labour have no plan.

noblegiraffe · 22/05/2024 19:44

What is interesting is that while there are people attacking Labour, no one is seeking to defend the Tories from the charge that they are corrupt, incompetent fuckers.

Because everyone knows it's true.

Yes the Tories are currently hopeless and need to sort themselves out. Labour though...bloody hell are they awful too.
