Of course, everyone has to do something, so this is light-hearted.

But which jobs would be red flags for you and you can't imagine going out with someone who does this?

Mine would be-

Tory MP/aide/minister- or anything to do with the Tory party
Scaffolder
Stripper
Porn star
PT/fitness instructor/gym owner
Nightclub owner/ manager

Interesting to hear yours!

How many bent coppers do you know personally? Hmm.

If you’ve actually read my comments, it should be extremely clear that I have zero inclination to know any police officers ‘personally’. Doesn’t change the repeated findings of institutional racism.

I also don’t personally know any arms dealers. Doesn’t stop them existing, either.

Willtheraineverstop · 21/05/2024 17:43

Dated a firefighter once, NEVER again.

Anyone who worked away more than being home would be a no for me.

Simonjt · 21/05/2024 17:43

Police
Forces or anything that required working away for more than 2-3 weeks a year
Slaughter house/butcher
Someone who does PIP assessments
Politician
Huntmaster/anyone involved
Working in horse or dog racing
Animal testing

‘Institutionally racist’ is not ‘a few bad apples’. That kind of minimising is part of the reason they get to keep being institutionally racist, homophobic and misogynistic.

The majority of police in this country do not ‘risk their lives everyday’, and they do their jobs for a quite decent wage and excellent benefits - not out of some noble desire to ‘protect the public’. Additionally, DH CHOSE to be a police officer. He wasn’t drafted. There was no coercion. And he chose to remain a police officer.

You don't know what you're talking about I'm afraid.

So, you don't know any Police Officers, you've never been a Police Officer, but you think you know more than myself, who has actually been a Police Officer for 5 years and who is married to a Police Officer who has been one for 20 years?

Got to love the armchair know it all's. Give your head a wobble.

OneThreadOnly · 21/05/2024 17:52

Police - I would be worried sick every time they were in work, armed forces or fire fighter for the same reason.

Politician - couldn’t believe a word they said, regardless of colour.

Sex worker - that’s cheating surely.

Baliff - sorry but no.

Dj - most have a raging coke habit.

Beekeepers. Yes, they are right SOBs. And bees aren’t much better.

It's because of honey not being vegan 😂

Do you turn to rapists for a balanced view on rapists?

SingleMummyHere1 · 21/05/2024 18:12

The only job I'd struggle with is someone who didn't have one really.

Boomer55 · 21/05/2024 18:15

I wouldn’t care what sort of job anyone had. I look at the person. Having said that, anyone unemployed would put me off.

SingleMummyHere1 · 21/05/2024 18:15

aridiculousargument · 21/05/2024 11:59

I couldn’t cope with the OINK OINK OINK in my home either, tbh

Jesus.....how embarrassing.

JohnofWessex · 21/05/2024 18:18

I think its not so much the job but the mindset that comes with it

Anyone who regularly goes on business trips.

I’m a 30 yo management consultant at a big 4 firm. It has SHOCKED me how prevalent cheating is on work trips. The number of sad men (clients and consultants) who just want to get trashed on these all expense paid dinners and then go have sex with any willing participant….

Even the boring, overweight middle aged guys.

Sometimes I feel like a Geisha on work trips.

Sorry to that's still the same, @groyard

I used to travel a lot pre-kids - I had hoped that would change 15 years on.

Marleyandme71 · 21/05/2024 18:28

Well no, I wouldn't. I would happily slate rapists all day long. However, I wouldn't slate rapists all day long, and then call one for help when I'm in trouble.

And its a stupid analogy anyway. ALL rapists are bad people. Are you really saying that ALL Police men and women are bad people? If you woke up at 3am, and someone was bashing your door in, would you call 999? If your child went missing, would you call 999? If you were attacked would you call 999? I wager that you would. And when you make that call, a Police Officer will come to your aid, even if that means placing their own life in danger.

ILikeItWhatIsIt · 21/05/2024 18:43

I'd be a little put off a spy too, it'd be weird not knowing anything about their work life.

Some people think that ALL coppers are quite bad because they cover up for, work with and tolerate some of the biggest scum bag cunts you'll ever meet.

That's why I wouldn't ask one for an unbiased view of policing, because they're all at least a bit tainted by association.

Same would apply for any discussion on the controversial aspects of any job.

But as evidenced on this site again and again the cops are the biggest and most routine Not All Coppers Are Like That's out there

I generally find public sector workers to have an entitled mindset.

KnitFastDieWarm · 21/05/2024 18:54

I’d always have said no military men. Until I met DP, who is a gem. Tbh I’d still say no military men - he’s my exception 😁
