Just having a laugh with the kids as DD4's first word was Cheese!

She had done the usual babbly stuff and we did all the usual "Oh that was dada, that was mama" thing, but the first honest to goodness word she said that we recognised without a doubt was Cheese! Luckily it was a weekend and we all heard it otherwise I dont think anyone would have believed me!

She was in her high chair, I gave her her lunch and said "ooh cheese!" and she said it right back. It was her favourite food, still is!

Hit me with your weirdest first words!

Not my child and equally was absolutely just random noises being strung together but my friend and I were looking after another friends baby once and he said 'murder' very clearly. I secretly count this as his first word, even though I do realise it was just a coincidental joining of sounds.

My DDs was ‘shiny’…we were in a craft shop, and tbh she’d spent a lot of time in front of The Shiny Show as a small baby as it reliably distracted her from colic.

She’s 19 now, and if she ever has kids I would lay money on their first word being ‘cheese’ 😁

My nephew used to make this dub a dee noise so my sister used to say cup of tea. A month later he looked up when HV was there and my sister offered her a cup of tea and my nephew looked up at just under 5 months and said very clearly 'cup of tea'. HV was very surprised.

Order.

I lived at parents home with DS. My DB used to watch Parliament and we assumed it was from the speaker.

DS's was "fiend"

We used to say that all the time to him because he was so cheeky and knew how to wind up his sisters. He still is a wee fiend!
