Just having a laugh with the kids as DD4's first word was Cheese!

She had done the usual babbly stuff and we did all the usual "Oh that was dada, that was mama" thing, but the first honest to goodness word she said that we recognised without a doubt was Cheese! Luckily it was a weekend and we all heard it otherwise I dont think anyone would have believed me!

She was in her high chair, I gave her her lunch and said "ooh cheese!" and she said it right back. It was her favourite food, still is!

Hit me with your weirdest first words!

DN’s first word was “mine”. Not good at sharing with his older brother! 😂

Magpiecomplex · 19/05/2024 22:23

DH's was apparently digger. Construction site on the other side of the road from their house. Older child was Yes, younger was There, always accompanied with a pointing finger.

Letsbuildazoo · 19/05/2024 22:36

My son's were bubble/pop. He just really liked when we blew bubbles in the garden.

80smonster · 19/05/2024 22:52

‘Bubba’ which was actually ‘bubbles’. We were obsessed with our hot tub at the time and so was DD.

ilovepixie · 19/05/2024 22:54

My nephews was car, followed quickly by cop car, his first sentence was Oh no cop car crashed while banging two cars together!

MrsALambert · 19/05/2024 22:56

DS1 was apple and DS2 was sheep. DS1’s second word was cheese though. Apple and cheese for a very long time before any other words came out

Pettyman · 19/05/2024 23:00

Mine was “Roy Orbison”

Bbq1 · 19/05/2024 23:10

Ds talked very early but his first word was, i think, Duck.

Pablova · 19/05/2024 23:11

Younger brother was slow to walk and talk, he mostly sat on the floor grunting.
At 14 months he shouted ‘Wellies please’ so my mother went to put his wellies on and he took them off her, put them on himself and ran out the door squealing byeeeeee.
To this point he had not spoken real words or walked AT ALL.

longdistanceclaraclara · 19/05/2024 23:14

Dts both had shoes as their first word. They still are obsessed with shoes.

ItsFuckingBoringFeedingEveryoneUntilYouDie · 19/05/2024 23:17

DS1 was Cheers. With cup clinking.
Guess he must have seen us doing it once too often.

Thelnebriati · 19/05/2024 23:17

DS was a late starter and his first word was a complete sentence. Scared the living daylights out of me. I said something really stupid like 'I beg your pardon?' in a Hyacinth Bucket type voice.

Saisong · 19/05/2024 23:31

We had 'uppy' (up, as in pick them up) from DC1 and 'pah-coh' (pine cone) from DC2.

DC1 then managed 'umina-moff' (hummingbird moth) a few months later when we were in holiday in France and surrounded by the bloody things. DC2s claim to family fame was reading out loud 'wee-fee' when they saw Wi-Fi on a sign at about age 2.5. Had no idea they had were starting to read!

Clevs · 19/05/2024 23:42

Not the first word but was one of the first few... "charger lead" 😂He went through a phase of being obsessed with plugs and leads!

mondaytosunday · 19/05/2024 23:51

Son was 'nana' for banana - he was a cheeky monkey and loved bananas.
My DD was also 'more' as I suppose I kept asking her if she wanted some more.

Kelpie78 · 19/05/2024 23:56

My little girl's first words were No, Dad, and cheese. Very clear and really young. She still loves cheese.

Cocopogo · 19/05/2024 23:57

DS was four months old when he started talking. He said “hiya” and “baba” at that age. Took considerably longer until he said “mama” though!

TheBirdintheCave · 20/05/2024 21:16

Son's first word was 'cat' but his second was 'tractor' 🤷🏻‍♀️

JoleneTookHerMan · 20/05/2024 21:21

We had bag.

Mr Tumble's Spotty....

(Cue)

''Baaaaag''

Investinmyself · 20/05/2024 21:24

Can’t remember her first word but first sentence at 18m old was ‘name’ going bed now.

Zoflorabore · 20/05/2024 21:28

My DD’s was “corn” at about 9/10 months as she had grabbed my corn on the cob mini a few days before and absolutely loved it, she was having them a few times a week and they’re still one of her favourite foods now she’s 13.

off topic but she was a very quick talker and she came back from nursery one day aged 2 and said “my head is fucking chocker” which she had obviously overheard from someone. When I rang nursery they said it was the 3rd complaint saying the same.

Originalusername89 · 20/05/2024 22:04

Dd's was 'hat' but sounded like 'ass' for a good while 😂

She's 3 now and and never leaves the house without a hat on!

blackcherryconserve · 20/05/2024 22:11

DD1s first word was book. She's now a published author of her own books!

Sunflowermoonbeam · 20/05/2024 22:14

Same here, cheese was ds first word.

JoanThursday · 20/05/2024 22:15

ItsFuckingBoringFeedingEveryoneUntilYouDie · 19/05/2024 23:17

DS1 was Cheers. With cup clinking.
Guess he must have seen us doing it once too often.

Exactly the same here! My DS would hold aloft his Tommy Tippee with dramatic flourish, inviting us to 'clink'.
