The Australians hate women and girls?

It’s just come to my attention that there’s an Australian ‘satire’ 🤢 about a private girls school. The lead character is a girl played by a middle aged man. WTAF?? How is this ok?

‘… her character is written and acted by a thirty-nine year old man, projecting his own (outdated and dubious) idea of what teenage private school girls are like onto his performance. But whatever the reason for Ja’mie’s portrayal, there is no doubt that she is meant to be someone we cannot feel sympathy for and should not feel sympathy for. Lilley justifies us in laughing at Ja’mie, justifies us hating her. And by default, he opens the doors for us to hate on all teenage girls: the shallow, self-obsessed other to our purported multicultural and progressive society.

I hesitate to call Ja’mie: Private School Girl a satire, because its primary effect is to completely dehumanise and ridicule a single teenage girl to the point of hatred, rather than saying something about the mechanisms and ideologies that make her so revolting. At its best the series is puzzling and somewhat distasteful; at its worst, I think it does damage to the image of the teenage girl that real-life teenagers have to contend with. In a society that already has some very derisive views on what teenage girls are, I think we can do without Lilley’s attempts at satire, and some more novels like Beauty Queensinstead.’

The girls school thread where you insisted at least one female poster was a man, simply because they dared disagree.

I can’t remember?

From the Australian Strategic Policy Institute:

‘Australia’s 2022-23 National Plan to End Violence Against Women and Children described violence against women—often a physical expression of misogyny—as ‘a problem of epidemic proportions’.

As Attorney-General Mark Dreyfus said in a recent major speech: ‘We have a crisis of male violence in Australia. It is a scourge in our society and it must end.’ ‘

Dreyfus calls on men to 'step up' to stop one woman dying a week from domestic violence

The nation's chief lawmaker has asked men to step up to stop women dying every week in a "crisis of male violence".

What are you banging on about? An old tv show you've never watched, and a country you have little to no knowledge about. It really is preposterous.

Meanwhile in the U.K. it looks like a (possibly) incoming gvt - good old Labour - will be bringing in self ID through the back door.

Meaning -

Single sex spaces can’t be protected if a man can call himself a woman following a quick sign off online.

No data collection or crime statistics will be accurate if a man can call himself a woman following a quick sign off online.

Any man could access any women and children’s spaces ‘legitimately’ following a quick sign off on line.

And more. What a joyous situation.

We still broadcast Mrs Browns boys, which is also pretty misogynistic. Sadly, all nations think laughing at men dressed as women is 'funny', regardless of how offensive it is to some people. It doesn't make all Irish and British people anti women.

Don't worry, MN keeps records for all to see...

Coincidentally have you considered that the reason all your threads turn into a show of rude and aggressive posts (and the fact you need to change your username every few months) is maybe a you problem?

The person she was referring to as 'Ken' wasn't even called Ken, or any version of Ken, nor were they male. They simply disagreed with OP and happened to have the word 'kein' in their username.

Well, isn't that an Australian man in your post, stepping up to make a call for change? Isn't the prime minister of Australia, and many of his government ministers, who are working on the National Plan to End Domestic Violence... Australian men?

If "The Australians" all "hate women and girls" how is this so?

God it was a joke. Or flippant. ‘HumourM3’ was being awful.

Oh well such is life!! 🤷‍♀️😁

A quick Google Translate of that username would have made its meaning clear. But no, OP went for the cheap shot instead.

It wasn't a joke because it wasn't remotely funny.
It was a cheap attempt to discount the view of another poster.
Labelling them as men, awful, and the other things OP (and other posters) said was all just to shut down opposing views.
It was clear to see.

‘Coincidentally have you considered that the reason all your threads turn into a show of rude and aggressive posts’

It’s always from a certain group of people with certain beliefs, motivations. Keen Labour fans usually. Guess you’re one, what with your subtle username. Like a little school bully gang, sad really. 🤷‍♀️

If I could be bothered I’d go back to the thread and quote posts from people being aggressive and rude towards me and others. I never was. First I genuinely thought the poster was a man, called Ken. Then I realised it wasn’t Ken at all but kein. Which I quipped sounded like Ken in Irish. Was a joke. Made me laugh anyway. Dear oh dear. The fact that x days / weeks later you’re trolling me about such insignificant stuff, is inexplicable really. Each to their own.

Meanwhile fck women’s rights, right?

The 'explanation' didn't make sense last time and still doesn't.
Nobody is trolling you either, merely pointing out a trend in how you post.

Who is it offensive to? I literally do not understand how anyone can be offended by Mrs Brown boys?! I mean it’s boring but that’s about it!

Got some bad news for you I'm afraid, I'm not a big fan of Labour either tbh. Not sure how that fits your narrative but hey ho.

I like how you've suddenly forgotten how to quote posts my when replying to me. Are you're trying to hide the bit that shows you accusing other posters who disagree with you of being a man?

It's almost as if you're partaking in the "plain fact denying - or fact twisting" you claim to hate 🤷‍♀️

Modern generations appear to have mislaid any form of a sense of humour. Everybody has to be oh so serious and look for the bad in everything.

It's beyond tiresome.

From the Global Citizen Report:

Australian Men Rank Among Most Misogynistic in Western World: Other countries surveyed include Turkey, France, China, Russia and South Africa.

There is a huge difference between starting a discussion based on recent statistics and using your ignorance of a 10+year old satire to smear a nation @Greengablesfables.

You said "Australians hate women and girls". This does not support your assertion as it is not about Australians as a group.

It’s offensive to comedy! The least funny thing I have ever watched, the jokes were signposted from so far away you could navigate a ship by them.
