Our lovely FTB 🙄have requested wheelie bins be included after generous discount… many unreasonable requests met!

AIBU to leave dead nan ashes under the floorboards & take the wheel bins as a summer plunge pool for the kids 🫣

Wtf - who pays money for bins and leaves them to greedy buyers!? I would rather ship them off to moody Doris 3 doors down than leave them full of our shit by donating the time, effort and money it took me to order them. Then Doris can tell them I thought they was cheeky fuckers and enjoy not composing her sour grapes

I want info on what the buyers have done to piss you off so much. You are literally seething.

Strictlymad · 17/05/2024 06:56

I’ve never heard of paying for bins before? I thought they belonged to council? And I’m sure contract says (I know ours did) that by law you must leave lightbulbs! Our seller took hers and we moved in in January in the dark!

2024istheyearforme · 17/05/2024 06:57

The wheelie bins aren't yours. They belong to the council that lease them to the house. Yes you leave them when leaving a property

NigelHarmansNewWife · 17/05/2024 06:57

I think you need to let it go - the negativity is radiating from your posts and it won't be doing you any good. Leave the bloody bins and move on. Literally.

I've only ever heard of paying when replacing the original that's gone missing/been damaged beyond use and the council has already provided a free replacement to which the same thing has happened. Where we are you can get an additional bin for garden waste for free but pay extra council tax for it to be emptied.

mynamechangemyrules · 17/05/2024 07:00

I can't believe I'm moved to comment on this, but that's how petty my life has become 😂
My parents live in a 'non wheelie bin' area and were fed up with the foxes raiding their rubbish, so they bought wheelie bins to store bags- they have to lift bags out for bin days! So the bins are theirs. But even in that situation I feel that the bins now 'belong' to the house as it's very situation specific the whole bin situ, non..?! So they'd leave them.
YABU

I thought DM was the most unreasonable woman in the world when she insisted on taking her own bins to the new house, and returning the new house’s bins to the old house.

Clearly I was wrong.

NigelHarmansNewWife · 17/05/2024 07:01

@Strictlymad - when we moved into our last house, some of the light fittings had been removed, leaving bare wires, not just the bulbs. Luckily we had some lamps.

PotatoPudding · 17/05/2024 07:02

Where I live, the bins are owned by the council but maintained by the occupant. We only own the brown bins, which we pay for ourselves.

sarahc336 · 17/05/2024 07:02

I've never heard of anyone taking the bins, surely everyone just leaves them and you get the new bin and at new house?

Why would your neighbour want 2 sets of bins and why would she want to get involved in your petty behaviour towards her new neighbours? Chances are she would give them back as soon as new neighbours move in. Also she might not turn out to be as moody once you've gone!

Wolfpa · 17/05/2024 07:02

Wheelie bins are left as standard your reaction is unreasonable. As far as leaving your Nan’s ashes under the floorboards no one cares they will just go with the rest of the dust there

LiquoriceAllsorts2 · 17/05/2024 07:02

Wheelie bins provided by the council, belong to the house (well technically probably the council but provided specifically for that house). You can’t take them with you

This has got to be a piss take, no one take a wheelie bin with them.

Or use them as ‘plunge pool for the kids’ ffs!

PrincessTeaSet · 17/05/2024 07:05

This situation is entirely of your making. You didn't have to agree to their offer or agree to sell to them at all. The fact that you did suggests there weren't queues of people wanting to pay more. So why do you think they are cheeky

leafybrew · 17/05/2024 07:05

greenlettuce · 17/05/2024 04:04

We left the wheelie bins and wouldn't have dreamed of taking them, our seller left the wheelie bins and I would have been very surprised had they taken them. Maybe it's different in different areas. I am really surprised the buyer even asked as I would have assumed they would be left.

They probably asked because the sellers have been awkward AF throughout the whole process.

There may some cunts around in this house sale, and it might not be the buyers....

Aloneinmanchester · 17/05/2024 07:05

You’re just pissed off because he negotiated a discount and you’ve included that he’s a FTB so that he can be mocked for being so unreasonable. It’s totally normal to expect the bins to stay. Get over it.

taybert · 17/05/2024 07:07

Maybe your buyers have been incredibly unreasonable with a list of demands but you haven’t posted any of them here. Even the “discount” bit- it’s completely standard practice (in England anyway) to negotiate on the asking price, and if you accepted that negotiation then that was up to you, it doesn’t make them cheeky or greedy, if it wasn’t a reasonable ask you could’ve said no.

shakeitoffsis · 17/05/2024 07:08

This is completely normal why the hell would you take the wheelie bin with you.

This! And they've specified it either because they don't know that NO ONE would remove the bin or they have picked up on your aggression towards them and aren't taking any chances

nothingsforgotten · 17/05/2024 07:11

Vistada · 17/05/2024 03:27

You sound like a nasty piece of work. I hope they pull out on day of exchange.

Would serve you right

I can't help but agree.

Another one of those posters who thought the thread would go their way, it hasn't, but they won't admit they are wrong.

Oblomov24 · 17/05/2024 07:12

I never get this: we take the light fittings. Why? They don't fit your new house. Probably. Nor will the toilet seat. I strongly dislike such shit.

Oblomov24 · 17/05/2024 07:13

Every hotel, every friends house I've ever been to, I've never seen the same toilet seat or light fitting yet.

CandiedPrincess · 17/05/2024 07:13

Wouldn't even cross my mind to take a wheelie bin with me. How odd!
