Our lovely FTB 🙄have requested wheelie bins be included after generous discount… many unreasonable requests met!

AIBU to leave dead nan ashes under the floorboards & take the wheel bins as a summer plunge pool for the kids 🫣

This thread is such a prime example of people just posting away without even reading the posts directly above. Let alone wondering what the last 18 pages might have covered that their contribution is adding to.

I know, it's so annoying! Just reading the first page would let people know that there are councils that don't shower residents with wheelie bins and don't start police chases when they're taken.

Every time there are new posts I'm hoping to find out what's wrong with the word nan 😂

ThePearlSloth · 19/05/2024 12:36

The weirdest part of this to me is the idea that leaving your nan’s ashes and your cat behind would be some sort of revenge. Most normal people love their Nan and their pets 👀

Pherian · 19/05/2024 15:31

Why on earth are you petty ? Your house is selling during one of the hardest Financial Times most people will ever experience in their lives.

of course you should leave the wheelie bins.

stop being ridiculous.

bakebeans · 19/05/2024 18:22

Eh? Are u for real?

Here4thechocs · 19/05/2024 18:34

Yu sound like a very nice person, OP .. NOT 🙄

ErinBell01 · 19/05/2024 20:34

The offer for a house usually specifies what is to be included in the sale, and I would think it would include the bins. It would never occur to me to haggle over bins, the buyers should have every expectation of having bins at their new house - and so should you! If everyone took their bins with them when they moved it could cause chaos - different areas have different sizes and colours of bins!

T1Dmama · 19/05/2024 23:11

Take the bins… leave the bins…. Don’t think it matters all that much…. Or tell them you’ll only leave them for £X….

I find it disturbing you’d consider leaving your poor nans ashes behind though, why keep them if she meant so little little to you…. Scatter her on some roses somewhere!

Emmz1510 · 21/05/2024 18:32

Since when is taking wheelie bins when you move a thing?? Unless you have purchased extra bins (is that a thing??) they belong to the local authority don’t they?

Noglitterallowed · 21/05/2024 18:43

Who in their right mind moves house and takes the bins!!!!! Absolute loons!!! Did you take the lightbulbs and wallpaper too 🙄

Abbyant · 21/05/2024 18:47

Tbf there was no wheelie bins at the home we’ve just bought and it cost me £20 for a general rubbish bin but the recycling bin was free, however I think the bins were originally stolen rather then taken with the owner as the property was empty for several years

MibsXX · 21/05/2024 22:00

I rent, and have had to move 8 times in the last 11 years, min wage and no one has left the bins in the new homes each time, so thats 11 lots of new bin purchases on min wage... the ones I have now are going with me

DreamyKoala · 21/05/2024 23:44

I bought a new house last year and inherited 5 bins

2 recycling
2 general waste
1 garden

I feel rich

Maybe you are in an area they charge for bins. Most areas don’t and you inherit what the previous owner/tenant had

Well I would hope so else someone somehow has been ripping me off royally! At 140 a set, on top of punishingly high council tax charges for less and less actual service each year, these cumbersome recepticles are most definately coming with me next move, no more Miss Bin It Off Gal!

Sunnyandsilly · 22/05/2024 05:56

Wheelie bins are normally provided free the very first time by the council, subsequent replacements charged for.

ive never encountered anyone whose taken their bins either, but if they did, then every replacement there after would need to be paid for.

ooooohnoooooo · 22/05/2024 06:02

Where we live (london borough) the bins are NOT council owned. If it breaks you have to buy a new (expensive one).

We do get given free recycling and food waste bins which stay with the house but the actual wheelies are privately owned and often taken when people move out.

We also pay £80 a year on top to get the garden waste bin emptied.

Isn’t that the same everywhere. The first ones will have been provided free and then every replacement paid for? I’ve lived in several Uk locations across the breadth of the country and that was the deal.

So mumsnet has spoken, I’ll leave the bin. As people have suggested, we live in an area which do not provide bins and we’ve purchased it. Our new property doesn’t have one either.

maybe this is a massive drip feed but the discount is for a cat flap that can be seen in pics, seen in person and was negotiated after a survey (which didn’t show much!)

so maybe I’ll leave them nan & the cat.

Why did you continue to sell to them if they’re being dicks?! I’d say see ya and put it back on the market!
our council deliveries the wheelie bins and general recycling for free, but you’ve to pay for the garden waste one…. I’d take anything I’d paid for, but obvs where I am I’d leave the black wheelie and basic recycling bins as that’s provided for free..

Nope we had to buy ours for new build

Leave the bins, as requested. But take the wheels.Grin

Or, even better, one wheel.😈

What on earth is wrong with people like you. Pettiness over a wheely bin (which by the way anybody normal wouldn’t even think twice about leaving with the house) I’ve heard it all.

If house builders want to provide new homes with bins they have to buy them from the council round here.

Flyhigher · 22/05/2024 16:18

Cannot believe the amount of traffic on wheelie bins!

CostelloJones · 22/05/2024 16:20

Who the fuck is taking their wheelie bins when they move?

RideMeSidewaysWasAnother1 · 22/05/2024 16:23

Cress/grass seed over the carpet. In all seriousness, if the bins came with the property then rule of thumb is they're left. Iff you bought them (and can prove so) they are yours to take.
